I personally don't get Nelly. She complains, Heath and Cathy doomed other people by being unable to express their love to each other. Well, maybe they would be able too, if you didn't burn the letters?
There is also the matter of them being Fixers on a contract, she is bound to thr family till everyone is dead and T corp sells time so death isn't even an immediate option.
@@cream_stew Yeah but that doesn’t change her betrayal. Because just as she ruined Heathcliff and Cathy for her own selfishness. She was in a perfect position to do the opposite and help reconnect them, which would have accomplished the same thing. In the end she made the choice to make them suffer and she’s even more hypocritical for acting as if there were no other way or crap like fate is unchangeable, because if that were true chapter 6 would have never happened. She just gave up and made sure to drag everyone down with her.

@@cream_stew Yeah usually, I would just brush it off as classic selfish cityfolk actions. However, Nelly tries to justify herself, while having the gall to say she valued the times they had together.
Going back to what Faust said about how the knowledge of thr mirror worlds can utterly destroy someone's spirits, even if Nelly was happy, when we meet her in Canto 6 she is fully in the belief that she is FATED to be ruined. Its like try to stop a tsunami from destroying your beach house, and that sacrificing your neighbor would save you - she was blinded by sheer desperation @justanotherviewer9643
