Those who think Dokutah is evil misunderstood the story. They are a mastermind from a civilization that literally transcended mortality. They should have not cared, yet, they care. Dokutah has proven to be caring and kind-hearted, and Theresa saw it. Eracing their memory is not vengeance but an act of compassion: she saw Dokutah's care conflicting with the memories of their lost civilization's vision of future, she saw the struggle that keeps them down. Without that horrible memory, Dokutah can focus on the things they care about, on Amiya, on helping the Infected... Like in one of my favourite songs: 'Don't take for granted those little things. Those little things are all that we have'. Damn, I'm cutting onions again(
It was an act of compassion and a cruel trick at the same time. Doctor came to Theresa expecting her to punish him or to have to face his sins in some way but instead she outplayed him by removing the memories which made him give up on Terra - memories which, mind you, he was incredibly fond of and attached to. Of a civilisation which transcended mortality, a bond with Priestess beyond Terran comprehension, and a last-ditch plan to avoid the threat of the Observers many generations in the making. And no matter how Theresa cuts it, those memories are part of who he is and the decisions he makes. But she (probably) saved the world in her dying breath by "solving" Doctor's mental conflict in her - and Terra's - favour. For those of you who played Genshin's Fontain Archon Quest, Theresa erasing Doctor's memories distinctly reminded me of that scene where Neuvilette realises why Focalors had him appointed High Judge (so that he would have to maintain contact with humans for 500 years and would inevitably come to understand their emotions and bond with them, leaving him emotionally unable to judge them guilty of the sin of artificial life once he ascended to his true Hydro Sovereign power) and how he called Focalors a "devious one". I feel like Doctor would say something similar to Theresa if he met her again with all his memories recovered.

Me realizing terrans are from talos-ii (except sarkaz) and originium is why they got animal traits. Overall theresa misunderstanded doctor intentions and kal'tsit betrays her creator (doctor) for not supporting his goal. If she didnt confront him things wouldnt have been chaotic and violent because terrans are still primitive.
HOW have I just found this channel?? The Arknights lore is insane but incredibly hard to digest in word form due to time constraints and this event summary and lore explanation is exactly what I’ve been looking for! Time to binge all your other videos!
I am in the medical field and currently having my time consumed with all the hospital work. I have been playing Arknights since it was released 4-5 years ago, but recently I’m having trouble reading the event stories because the writing of some events are really such an exposition which takes too much time. I knew Babel would be THE event, and I patiently waited for a content creator who would relay the story in a medium that would be perfect given my time constraints. I was not expecting you. Thank you, my good sir, for this video. I hope you will continue to make AK content especially expositions on its lore. Will subscribe.
Yeah I open most of my videos on events with a lore exploration cause for a story summary it mostly just bogs it down Glad you enjoyed the video. Most of the content I plan to make going forward will be either covering events like this video, discussing characters or covering different lore topics like with the Feranmuts
This event was beautifully made, making me experience both hate and sadness. I love how we finally get(.....you said donkey gdmit...im still watching while reading this yes.)the full reason of why Kaltsit is pissed at us and what happened to our memories. I like how the self insert is not 'flawless' as most of these games nowadays make them out to be (in gachas at least) even ending up being a sort of an enemy (even if we regretted it) till theresa removes our memories. It was the doctors choice that made me feel anger with what they decided to do. Babel was such an amazing story, a depressing one, but a great one.
I really couldn't be angry with his choice, and, under the same circumstances, I may have done the same. Although who these, "Observers" are is not fully defined, they have no doubt brought untold destruction of billions of lives in the previous era. As the doctor said, these were friends, family, everything, taken by this insurmountable (by THEIR measure) entities that they found for untold years. Having all that weight, the hope of an entire civilization, your civilization, square on your shoulders, just to cast it all away for, by their measures, a bundle of species that are untoldly primitive. If these Observers are truly the threat the Doctor described, then Theresa truly would have doomed all sentient life in the long run.
Thank you for making this! I'm someone that enjoys the arknights story but doesn't really love visual novel type storytelling (and the winding dialogue), so it's hard for me to get through the story in game. I'm only able to pick up the lore and general story from community discussion, which is unfortunate since the story of this game goes so hard. Your explanation video is definitely something I really appreciate, and you presented everything super concisely and it was very easy to understand! I would definitely watch more of these if you continued to make them in the future for new events that come out (and i would love one for lone trail if you haven't done that yet)!
it’s exam season for me so i’m glad i was able to enjoy the lore behind the event without actually having the time to read it myself subscribing! this explanation was very well made
I just finished reading Babel last night so im glad i was finally able to watch your recap. Thanks a bunch for this video, it was nice being able to get a summary of the event after getting so much lore revealed in the event.
Thanks for uploading this story summary and I'll be subscribing for more of your future content. I really enjoyed the Babel event and it's nice to have a good video to come back and re-watch the events. Do you plan to do Recaps of older stories from Arknights or just the new ones coming up?
I might cover them eventually. Likely I'll cover stuff as it becomes relevant again like if it gets a sequel or if I think the story is worth covering after all these years have passed
I am now commited. I didnt read ANY of the chap stories since like half way into chap 1, but you bet your ass I came back to read all of Chap 14 on release day.
I have been seeing this video for 1-2 weeks now and well I guess I got what was bargained - *"Babel Badly Explained"* So many bad skips and no actual continuation to the events that were shown that would 100% make anyone who didn't actually read Babel confused in my honest opinion. If anything I do agree with your outro.
Thank you for saving my ADHD-induced, story-skipping brain from missing the story of Babel. I played the event knowing how lore-rich and emotional it was, and was excited to experience it. However, events just have too much dialogue when I just want to get into gameplay, and I often end up skipping it. This recaps the event perfectly, or at least I assume so from what I've read in-game and heard from others. I felt the entire range of emotions after listening to this retelling. Nice job.
Now i can understand why telescope was used in the 4th concept trailer instead of the headbanging ones they used before. The future of arknights feels like its building up for hope rather than war. Like the beginning of the end.
Babvel brought me to my knees, with my eyes crying rivers so that not even the tissues could stop it, just thinking about it hurts, even as im writing this im tearing up. I will never ever do a re read as that would devastae me even further and I sincerely hope that we, the doktor never regains his memories.

hypergraph gotta be the best cook I have ever seen when it comes to world building. Goddamn can't wait for endfield and all the mysteries it will show us in the future.
Out of all the events arknights has put out, some of my favorites are related to the pre amnesia doctor, or Babel era, where we see what the past is like for the characters, from darknights memoir with W prespective, to Vigilo that is going back and forth with the pre amnesia and post amnesia doctor and how we see doctor who has their memories eraised still retains their intellect and later memories regarding Priestess, and finally leads to Babel which by far the most emotionally driven (and ptsd inducing) event from the trilogy. Doctor wasnt a good person, but his love for the people in Babel especially Amiya and wanting to help her even after what he did to Theresa says that he truly cares. Theresa eraising their memories is their last revenge and also a way for doctor a second chance as a blank slate, where they can shape a much better future.
Wasn't a good person? Really? From reading the Vigilo and the Babel event, that's your take from this? Even THERESA herself knows Doctor is a good person, despite everything, the English community truly has some incorrect takes at times, and this is one of them.
I want to see the full circle of Amiya being given the responsibility in Babel, and then accepting that responsibility in chapter 14. Avoiding the use of clearer language to avoid spoilers regarding Babel (even thoe this vid does the job for me kind of)
honestly after this event, I like Doctor even more. our guy is one conflicted mofo and I am HERE for it. Torn between sacrificing a lot of people he just met, one person who is their daughter's new best friend, or all 13k years of sleep/ waiting for results on the experiment he was growing.
@@SeishinTekukutsu You think the players care? These nutjobs would sacrifice their own race for Terra if they were in that same position; it's why 99 percent of players condemn the doctor; they let their hearts overrule their brains.
I find it a little fitting that you don't mention the assassins in detail in this synopsis. Their identities, their apparel their words, just as they had hoped, they were forgotten by history. All of them were heroes of Kazdel, who out of love of their homeland did the unthinkable, and cursing themselves in the process. All the way to the end, they only held respect and reverence for their King.
The assassins forgotten to history. Only the individual responsible for the death of Theresa is remembered. Very fitting considering that was their intended purpose. Only Theresa remembers their names and she isn't alive anymore
I can't even begin to explain what i feel about this event. Calling it cinema feels so little now for how much I've said it in this game. I need to find a phrase stronger for upcoming events they'll cook
i already middly traumatize by this game long ago when my lovely Yelena go to eternal rest, but this new chapter really make me thinking.. is this just another civilization war? i don't hate past doctor action because from the perspective of the first civilization their actions are something that needs to be at least that what i believe to be. doktah in every literal means no humans being but the fact in the current time doktah(we) have this much attachment to people on RI and Terra is fascinating. at least at the end this is new beginning for current civilization, but for first civilization? maybe an END. So eager to next chapter of the story or the connection between terra and tallos II.
I still don't fully understand what originium is, it turns things into crystals that contain data of what it was? So how does this help the old civilization if they don't want to reverse it?
@@Silvercruise the old civilization want originium to cover the entirety of Terra and bring about the assimilated universe. It'll allow them to effectively live in a matrix like paradise free from the constraints of mortality
I know I'm late but I'm interested in your thoughts on the fact that when Doctor woke up PRTS searched for signal in various locations, one of which being Caerula Arbor - the same name that is used for IS#3. Since as we learned Originium was supposed to preserve life and somehow unify? doctor's race once again is it possible that Seaborns are the aftereffect of this or am I overlooking something important?
It is pretty interesting that we are getting it confirmed outside of IS3. The seaborn are the remnants of The Doctor's races terraforming campaigns on Terra. The terraforming process was something that happened prior to the events that led to the originium project. So overall it's nice that people who haven't read the IS lore can get some of the information fed to them
She is not a donkey , she is a Cautus " Cautuses have the traits of leporids (rabbits and hares), which can be seen from the shape of their ears. They do have tails, which is largely unnoticeable due to the short length. They are often nicknamed "rabbit " .
One of the saddest parts of this event was how Theresa recognized and knew the names of all the assassins that were attacking her. They all used to be her close friends and colleagues
Do forgive me but I find myself unable to forgive Theressa for wiping Doctor's memories. Unlike most people, it's Theressa I'm condemning, The Doctor who is trying SO damn hard to do this ten thousands years task, with a ,I dare say, PLANETARY WEIGHT on his small shoulders, gone, just like that. He's dead, all that sacrifices just for her to foil it all. I'm fond of our current Doctor, but just like how Kal'sit and and the current fandom are condemning Doctor for killing Theressa, I'm condemning Theressa for "killing" this Doctor...
Welp.... let's just recall what 'Babel' means in the myth. It was destroyed by the God since human beings share the same language and wants to reach deepes sky, where the God is actually is. Why must Theresa die? From Doctor's perspective who still by then was harnessed by the Lynchpin, she had stepped into THE one triggering taboo.
9:26 on that note, Ascalon being a background character of her own story also feels very on the nose since she's always in the background protecting Amiya and the doctor. I liked it.
Ascalon had well written rivalries w Scareye and esp Manfred, and I thought that was strong enough of a story for a supporting character. The fact that she's the ******** to Odda's ********, but Odda being oblivious to that fact, was also a sick irony. But you know what Ascalon did best? Being the capend to this story. The scene where she arrived back to an empty entrance hall in the landship, with Theresa never being there to greet her ever again, and her existential anguish at it all, it was the heavy note, the final curtain fall, that was needed to end the chapter.
Still want to know what that Theresa-shaped thing is that's following Theresis around in the present-day. It doesn't act like her, but it sure looks like her.
@Lendario0X It's from Evangelion. Uniting the entire world into one being. In this case, turning the entire world into one connected group of information rocks.
Imagine if Priestess would show up im the future, restored Doctor's memories and in Endfield we would learn that we are there because doctor went with his plan and eliminated life on Terra. And then both od them would come back to Talos 2 as finał villains
My hands are already bleeding Well, new story has fallen into the podium of the most depressing stories in the Arknights lore: 1st Babel 2nd Rhodes Island's Records of Originium- Rhine Lab 3rd FrostNova
Honestly, top 3 best stories in Arknights all around. Granted, that's not a high bar to clear in my book as I've been overly critical of pretty much everything HG has ever done with this game, but Babel truly stands out as a one in a lifetime wonder. Oh, it still has its share of issues and it's arguably long overdue but still, this is what peak Arknights looks like and the last time that happened was 3 years ago when Twilight of Wolumonde and Children of Ursus released. So yeah, I've waited a long time to relive that kind of experience. Read Babel, it's well worth your time.
Yeah, the story is a hard skip for me most 99% of the time. Even the stories that I DID read (Break Ice, Mansfield) were just good, not great. The best ones so far had been Who Is Real and Undertides, but even those pale in comparison to Babel. Babel is just entirely beyond everything that HG was thought to be capable of before.
This is what I was looking for, Thank you for summarize arknight story... In-game text too small and too much unnecessary word, made me ignore mostly of the story
24:58 you mentioned The Shard and showing the picture of the airship, for what i know The Shard is a tall tower on Londinium that capable of making Catasthrope. ive read similiar statement in my local community stating The Shard is indeed the Airship. am i missing something?
From my understanding the shard is the technology that the doctor gave Theresis that is capable of controlling Originium which is the fundamental process that went into building the shard airship. Basically they named the airship after the technology
is there any reference on when they mentioned the airship as The Shard? or its just a speculation because the tower and the airship is part of The Shard technology?
Well at the end of chapter 11 it's implied the two are connected. I suppose the shard would be the tower itself but it requires the airship so neither would work without the other. As the tower generates the catastrophes and the airship unleashes that energy

Me realizing terrans are from talos-ii (except sarkaz) and originium is why they got animal traits.
Overall theresa misunderstanded doctor intentions and kal'tsit betrays her creator (doctor) for not supporting his goal.
If she didnt confront him things wouldnt have been chaotic and violent because terrans are still primitive.
seems like depression never escapes us eh
but the darkest times also has the brightest stars ( I SWEAR DOKTAH U BETTER MAKE IT COUNT AMIYA AND THERESA TRUSTS U)
The depression will only make the resolution sweeter
Or the resolution will be more trauma
Who was cutting onions when I went through this the first time. Love your videos. Would like for you to do these for all of the stories!
This event is the biggest lore dump and depression train I've ever read in a game. 10/10 will cry in the shower again
@@virgondust the shower cry is a rite of passage for all Babel readers
HOW have I just found this channel?? The Arknights lore is insane but incredibly hard to digest in word form due to time constraints and this event summary and lore explanation is exactly what I’ve been looking for! Time to binge all your other videos!
Yo. Good to hear. Hopefully you enjoy some of the older videos
Yeah I open most of my videos on events with a lore exploration cause for a story summary it mostly just bogs it down
Glad you enjoyed the video.
Get donkey jump scared
Don't know about you, but that tittle is wrong.
This has been better explained than anything I have seen.
@@dokutahblob thank you kindly

I need more arknights story/lore explanation like this. keep up the good work
Thank you for making this!
I have a video done on Lone Trail although it is a year old now so be warned
it’s exam season for me so i’m glad i was able to enjoy the lore behind the event without actually having the time to read it myself
subscribing! this explanation was very well made
Good luck on your exams
If you get time after them I'd recommend experiencing this event yourself
I just finished reading Babel last night so im glad i was finally able to watch your recap. Thanks a bunch for this video, it was nice being able to get a summary of the event after getting so much lore revealed in the event.
Yeah it was definitely better to watch this after experiencing it for yourself. Glad you enjoyed it
stories like this makes me appreciate the "normal" characters in the story
normal being, living their own life, free from the suffering and depression
all of this lore and there's more to come ! ! Can't wait !!
great video! i didn't have time to read the whole event, appreciate the clear summary :)
Man, thank you for this, really.
Babel is a fucking Masterpiece.
I'll miss Theresa
Thanks for uploading this story summary and I'll be subscribing for more of your future content. I really enjoyed the Babel event and it's nice to have a good video to come back and re-watch the events. Do you plan to do Recaps of older stories from Arknights or just the new ones coming up?
I might cover them eventually. Likely I'll cover stuff as it becomes relevant again like if it gets a sequel or if I think the story is worth covering after all these years have passed

One of the few times I read the event and I regretted it. My addiction to this game is now stronger

"I will never emotionally recover from this"
Many such cases
I am now commited. I didnt read ANY of the chap stories since like half way into chap 1, but you bet your ass I came back to read all of Chap 14 on release day.
what a banger video
I have been seeing this video for 1-2 weeks now and well I guess I got what was bargained - *"Babel Badly Explained"*
So many bad skips and no actual continuation to the events that were shown that would 100% make anyone who didn't actually read Babel confused in my honest opinion. If anything I do agree with your outro.
Reading gives me a stroke so I really appreciate your work
I wanted to come back to arknights after like 2 months, I ended up with depression and blankly staring at my screen on multiple occasions
10/10 game
Thank you for saving my ADHD-induced, story-skipping brain from missing the story of Babel. I played the event knowing how lore-rich and emotional it was, and was excited to experience it. However, events just have too much dialogue when I just want to get into gameplay, and I often end up skipping it. This recaps the event perfectly, or at least I assume so from what I've read in-game and heard from others. I felt the entire range of emotions after listening to this retelling. Nice job.
Thanks for the compliment. I'll see you next week sometime for chapter 14 lol
Doktah old code name is "Oracles"??? It's the same code name as Enfield endministrator! 26:31
Yeah I'm curious whether the Endministrator will actually be the doc we know and love. Honestly not sure how I'd feel about it
Yeah the Babel event was peak. I really enjoyed it. Also glad to see this did some great numbers.
Doubled my sub count on its own
Actually insane numbers
Theresa's impact on the doctor over such a short fraction of his lifespan cannot be understated.
Thanks for the video
Also peak event
I'm somehow glad Babel had ended, if not, each time I open the game, I would had heard BAAABURU, make me feel like I'm talking to an infant
Was crying and depressed for 3 days after finishing it would try peak depresso again 😢
I finished the event at 4am
Man
I was too depressed to sleep
I lowkey hope they make a movie for this event.
I pray
Like if the anime covers act 2 they gotta cover this
Now i can understand why telescope was used in the 4th concept trailer instead of the headbanging ones they used before. The future of arknights feels like its building up for hope rather than war. Like the beginning of the end.
Amazing explanation thanks man
The doctor made the correct choice - the future his people envisioned should not be sacrificed for the sake of another people.
Babvel brought me to my knees, with my eyes crying rivers so that not even the tissues could stop it, just thinking about it hurts, even as im writing this im tearing up.
Avoiding the use of clearer language to avoid spoilers regarding Babel (even thoe this vid does the job for me kind of)
@@semillon5229 well I don't know what happens in ch 14 I've only heard vague spoilers to try and maintain some sense of wonder in the new stuff
honestly after this event, I like Doctor even more. our guy is one conflicted mofo and I am HERE for it. Torn between sacrificing a lot of people he just met, one person who is their daughter's new best friend, or all 13k years of sleep/ waiting for results on the experiment he was growing.
Not even just 13k years, dude has the weight of his civilization bearing down his back because he got woken up ahead of schedule.
Please HG, a standalone anime movie of the Babel event and my life is yours
I can't even begin to explain what i feel about this event. Calling it cinema feels so little now for how much I've said it in this game. I need to find a phrase stronger for upcoming events they'll cook
I, too, like it when my gambling addiction traumatise me
It keeps me invested lol
Bable in a nutshell : Old man uses ultra big brain to game end demon lady
Summarizing Babel in one sentence
i already middly traumatize by this game long ago when my lovely Yelena go to eternal rest, but this new chapter really make me thinking.. is this just another civilization war? i don't hate past doctor action because from the perspective of the first civilization their actions are something that needs to be at least that what i believe to be. doktah in every literal means no humans being but the fact in the current time doktah(we) have this much attachment to people on RI and Terra is fascinating. at least at the end this is new beginning for current civilization, but for first civilization? maybe an END.
Thank you for sifting through the hours of filler and bad translation. HG Yostar should hire you as a translation underwriter, no cap
Where is the "badly explained" part?
WAS THAT ALSO A LIE??
Set their expectations low that way they can never be disappointed
Please keep making arknights story videos!
I shall do this
I know I'm late but I'm interested in your thoughts on the fact that when Doctor woke up PRTS searched for signal in various locations, one of which being Caerula Arbor - the same name that is used for IS#3.
Unlike most people, it's Theressa I'm condemning,
The Doctor who is trying SO damn hard to do this ten thousands years task, with a ,I dare say, PLANETARY WEIGHT on his small shoulders, gone, just like that. He's dead, all that sacrifices just for her to foil it all. I'm fond of our current Doctor, but just like how Kal'sit and and the current fandom are condemning Doctor for killing Theressa, I'm condemning Theressa for "killing" this Doctor...
This take would make the fandom really mad. lol
This event are so traumatic and so painful to the the point I almost regret putting my name as the doctor
A common sentiment
Welp.... let's just recall what 'Babel' means in the myth.
I liked it.
Yeah Ascalon is great. She does her job well and the event does a great job characterising her
Ascalon had well written rivalries w Scareye and esp Manfred, and I thought that was strong enough of a story for a supporting character.
War crimes war crimes war crimes 🗣️🔥🔥🔥
War crime simulator going crazy
I am english so I didn't read the story. So thanks for the video so I could watch instead of read.
Still want to know what that Theresa-shaped thing is that's following Theresis around in the present-day. It doesn't act like her, but it sure looks like her.
Ok they get inspired by not only Wh Fantasy ,xenogears but also neon Evangelion.
So originium is just the Arknights version of the Human Instrumentality Project? Wild.
The what?
@Lendario0X It's from Evangelion. Uniting the entire world into one being. In this case, turning the entire world into one connected group of information rocks.
@@namelessarcher3261 not a connection I made before but yeah pretty much
It's a little different in that it's for storing, not blending together.
And I think(not confirmed in game), that it's suppose to be reversible.
It's reversible but that's not the intention of the first civilization
I shall wait when this event gets animated into a anime
Traumamisu and Depresso combo
the theme.....the theme......the theme....
We eating good thus afternoon.
True
Its good to see how us the doctor became so hated
I understood this more than me doing the event itself, howwwwwww
In my head cannon priestess is the next villain or at least the over arking antagonist
In future events, she did alter doctors' memories before babel
I'm hoping she makes more appearances at the least. Cause seeing her and post amnesia doctor interacting will be very interesting
Imagine if Priestess would show up im the future, restored Doctor's memories and in Endfield we would learn that we are there because doctor went with his plan and eliminated life on Terra. And then both od them would come back to Talos 2 as finał villains
So, Theresa died to make sure her goals can have a hope of succeeding. We are the key to her goals.
As someone once said: "Looking happiness in Arknights is just like looking for a single piece of hay in a needle stack in a needle factory.
You'll find it but it'll cost you
My hands are already bleeding
Well, new story has fallen into the podium of the most depressing stories in the Arknights lore:
1st Babel
2nd Rhodes Island's Records of Originium- Rhine Lab
3rd FrostNova
I tries to read through this event myself, but I gave up after only two hours.
I cried on this event broooo

Pretty sure he shard and the airship is different thing
From my understanding the shard is the technology that the doctor gave Theresis that is capable of controlling Originium which is the fundamental process that went into building the shard airship. Basically they named the airship after the technology
is there any reference on when they mentioned the airship as The Shard? or its just a speculation because the tower and the airship is part of The Shard technology?
Well at the end of chapter 11 it's implied the two are connected. I suppose the shard would be the tower itself but it requires the airship so neither would work without the other. As the tower generates the catastrophes and the airship unleashes that energy
@@bionicfactory1the shard is the tower and the airship is the aim for the tower to unleash catastrophes at a desired point
