Nice video! This video has really been the first one that actually describes everything in detail. I've been fooling around with the same water issues on my 15 jku (also cooperhead perl). I haven't removed the trim yet, but might try the soapy water test. But I'm definitely replacing the door seal (driver & passenger).
Glad it helps! I spent probably 6 months or more messing around with the Jeep in various different ways figuring things out. The Mopar leak manual you'll find on Jeep forums should be step 1 for most problems. When it still can't be fixed with the manuals suggestions then this video is definitely helpful. I went through 2 full door replacement seals, a mucket seal, etc. until I finally popped off the trim (while having my son hold the water hose at the door in various spots from the outside) . Even then it took me a few weeks of diagnosing and trial and error. Let me know if you have questions :)
@@PhelixTheKhat the new door seal actually made the amount of water worse (even adjusted the strike plate due to closing issues). Im going to try the silicone/camper tape trick next.
@@PhelixTheKhat after the tape/silicone, the drivers floor is final dry! Now on to replace the passenger side door seal(might as well change it out too)
bringing my jeep to the dealership today for that issue since its under warranty. Hope they fix it, if not itll be this video that does. I do think it's either the A pillar or the Cowl bcs only the front half of the passenger side mat gets wet
just been trying to park it in the garage in throwing some cheap rubber weather stripping on the door frame for as long as it lasts. also the dealership will not fix it under any circumstances they will take 200$ an hour just to spray water at it to diagnose the issue. then after finding the issue will charge you extra@@foxfox9931
I have a 2017 Sahara Unlimited and very time it rains my passenger side seat gets wets. I don't know where its coming from. Can Anyone Help ME Please????
Good Video Man!! Bottom line, these Jeeps are a lot of fun, However I have had similar issues on a brand new 2020 wrangler. PAIN IN MY A....S It seems we chase these leaks around LOL. Eventually with Great efforts we get their. I didn't take it to the dealer only because of the time and inconvenience, and, their guys would of had to do the same thing, only with even no good results. I took mine the first time to them, lol , Well, they didnt do to great. Not fixed lol I think i finally have mine narrowed down. :} Mike Orlando Florida
my JK is a 2018 and started leaking just after the 1st year. Jeep as a company has had one thing going for it and that is the style. Everything else about Jeep is simply garbage.
Rich I totally agree with you on the style of the Jeep. Also, I love the versatility of the Jeep, but this leak issues with older and newer model Jeep’s are ridiculous! I just bought a 2017 Wrangler 2 weeks ago, I’ve taken it back to dealer twice. Solved the leak in drivers floorboard, rear passenger floorboard, but it’s still wet in front passenger floorboard after last night’s rain! Frustrating as hell!!!
@@lindalincicome4142 my guess is when people get in and out especially in a used one, there foot hits the liner seals slowly wewring it down or moving it causing this issues

A year+ in, and no leaks from the door to report. :)
How did you remove the door sill cover you mentioned at 0:35?

Do you recall what the thickness of the foam was that you put inside the door seal? Thanks
Are the 2016 JKU reliable? I'm thinking of buying one but there is no information regarding reliability.
Thank you so much that solves my problem
What is that plastic/metal cover with the warning label where the carpet should be at 1:52?
That's the "hot!" sticker on the floor board of the Jeep. It's under the passenger side carpet. :)

This amazing thanks so much!
If you need to alter the new seal in different areas then it defeats the purpose of replacing it.
Thank you

Started with an 83 CJ7.
Owned 13 different Jeeps since then and will never buy another modern Jeep.
They are simply trash.
