Spending another birthday alone but still with all y'all. No family left. I'm the last one alive. Another year gone by. I'm an old man that still loves music like this. I may not have much left in life. But I still have memories. I pray all y'all have an awesome 2016! Hope to be back next year. May God Bless you all!!

+fig1954 that's why I come here. I can still hear the songs of my Parents and also my Generation. There are not too many of my family members left in my Parent's Generation, and I miss them all so. These songs bring back a lot of warm memories.

This is a large group! Several of the instrumentalists in the photo have a capital E on their blazers, so they are apparently all members of the group. Many times, the vocalists are a vocal group with the group name & the instrumentalists backing them either don't have a group name or have a different group name.

Our Re-union was 12/2/16 and I was in charge of the songs.. The Louisville's Best has a CD and that was played 1st... Why not this is where the re-union was and where we grew up...

There are other versions of this song beside Dion and The Epics... The Channels from 1957 also did this song too... I added it to the top of my channel... It's seems by the comment page... The Channels was the best.... Take a listen and see what you think.... They all are great....

Yes this group is good.. But not my favorite.. How do you get a favorite version when they all are so darn good... The Channels was 1st...Then Dion..Then The Epics... then The Doo Wop Project...

Absolutely a splendid version of this song. I believe it was actually recorded in 1980, although the group has been around since 1960, and is still performing. I've never found out who the falsetto is on this song.

+sean godwin I think the most familiar covers of the Flamingos original (I think) version are The Channels 1957 version, and Dion and the Belmonts 1960 recording. In 1961 the Butanes attempted in the style of the Belmonts, and the Exotics did an up tempo version. Earlier in 1956 the Spiders did a version. The Sensations actually charted with a horrific destruction of the song, but the statute of limitations is probably over by now. More specifically to the Epics version, the song was extremely popular at Louisville sock hops and dances, and became a hallmark at performances of the Monarchs. The Epics arrangement is similar to the Monarchs style and really brings back memories of Louisville in 1964. I don't think the Monarchs recorded the song, but I do have a recording of the Monarchs from a sock hop at my high school in 1964. A really great vocal.

+sean godwin The Monarchs were essentially performing Dion and the Belmonts arrangement. In my view the Tenor background was a little overdone on their recording. I believe the Monarchs subdued the background for most of the song, and finished with a powerful Tenor finish, a classic Monarchs style. I think on this page you can access the Monarchs "Til I hear it from you", and "This old Heart". Great representations of Monarchs style DooWop & Rock & Roll..

+sean godwin Sean, I am not sure I have enough sense to upload the recording from Durrett High School. I could send if there was a way to get your e-mail. But try monarchmg on you tube. He is the incredible lead singer on the great Monarchs recordings. VinylNostalgia also specializes in Louisville music. Hope you enjoy some of these.

He didn't have to. These guys were just a cover band from Louisville. They were very good and very popular. All props to the Channels, for sure. Best always. PM
