If you grew up in Louisville in the 60's it was a privilege to go to Teen Clubs on Sunday and see these guys. Cosmo and the Sultans were one in a million.

311 was my boyhood home in Louisville. Tom "Cosmo" Cosden had purchased 317 on the same street.

J.T. Cosden, aka Cosmo whas one of the absolute icon and legends to come out of Lou. in the early sixties. His songs with the Sultans were among the best ever recorded by a local band. We had many groups locally such as The Epics, the Carnations and of course The Monarchs, but Cosmo stood out for his energetic performances. His songs the way he presented them kept his audience hopping, one of Lou.'s best. So sad we lost him last year at age 71.

Yes Cynthia I still live in Lou. Those of us who are from the early '60 generation were very lucky to be raised on such great local musical talent. They give us such greate memories of our early youth. My favorite group was and still is "The Monarchs". Their lead singer, Mike Gibson, had one of the greatist falsetto voices of all time. He occasionally is invited to sing with them. I'm a big fan of his and go see him as much as possible. WE were lucky in Lou. to have so many great bands.

Cosmo was the orginal lead singer of The Sultans, he decided to go on his own and formed Cosmo and the Counts. He was a great "Rock&Roll" singer, but never got national acclaim. He still preforms in town, mostly at John E's. He still puts on a great show. Everyone from the Lou. area who still remember him should go see him preform.

Almost all the R&B & doowop hits from late 50s-early 60s were controlled by NYC Mafia & hoodlums. That's why 99% of the hits were from NYC, Philly & Connecticut areas. If the mob controlled this great song it would have been a big hit. Great tune.
