I'm a happy 2023 Model Y owner. AWD Extended Range Battery. I agree not worth the money. I run in Chill Mode most of the time. I'll switch out of Chill if I have the need for speed.
Also think Tesla should offer it for monthly pay, maybe $10-20/mo it'd make a lot of owners happy and bet they would end up with more revenue.
As a new and first time MYLR owner, I do not have the acceleration boost. It is still the fastest car I have driven from a stop, that includes thirty years of driving police vehicles. Not only is the initial acceleration awesome, the acceleration is very responsive at highway speeds. The acceleration boost is tempting but I’ll stay with normal for now.
Agree…but it is tempting. 2k is a lot though.
I avoided a rear-ending by a pickup truck because I floored the accelerator and had instant torque with my 21 Model 3 LR with Acceleration boost enabled. I even have the dashcam video to prove it. I was approximately 6 inches from being hit. If it had been my previous ICE-V, I would have been hit.

Budgeted it in. Pick color? Could. Add rims? Naa...acceleration boost? Yes.
Good point. I went “cheap” with no upgrades on my MYLR…..still fast at 4.8 0-60 with the same “free” color, black seats, standard wheels, but $2K for that speed is a deal vs paying for the nicer red or blue paint.
The best value for the referral program that quickly ended. But used my first referral for this package and don’t regret it. Great value for the points. Really only $600 if you compare it to getting 4000 free supercharger miles. What used my second referral for
I purchased the acceleration boost for my 2023 MYLR. I've ridden motorcycles my whole life so it was worth it to me.
I also got it free via a unique bet with my coworkers. The bet was I would purchase the acceleration boost and put it up against every employee's car.
If I defeated all of them they would all chip in and pay me back for it.

P.S. I orchestrated this to occur on the day of the company's annual picnic. That way if I didn't win I could get a refund within the refund window! 🤣
Silly question. What would you have to do if you lost, other-than you having to pay for the upgrade?
My coworkers didn't know that the upgrade was refundable within 48 hours.
So they thought if I lost, I was out the money for the upgrade and was stuck with it.
Other than that, there wasn't anything else to lose.
I planned on keeping the upgrade anyway, but was confident that I'd win.
Although if the upgrade truly sucked, I would've refunded it. Fortunately it didn't! 👍
If I discover I want it bad enough, in a year or two I'll buy the boost, I think it's a fair deal, but I mostly drive in CHILL mode, anyway. In CHILL you still get nigh instant acceleration, just not as much of it, and I'm hoping (dreaming?) to get 43K miles on my first set of tires, 12K so far.

I got one referral and I bought the boost for my model 3. I love it. It’s fast. But the model 3 is faster than the Y. So it was definitely worth it.

I understand why Tesla charges this much. It ups the percentage of chance that a failure of a motor component or battery component will occur. They need to cover that additional warranty cost.
However, Tesla may now have numbers that show that there really aren't that many more warranty claims. If so, if I were Tesla, I would lower the cost to $300 dollars and rake in the money!! Everyone that owns a model Y LR would pay that. How many hundreds of millions of dollars would that be for Tesla?
Speaking of software, I heard the other day that with a recent Tesla update, we can have multiple LightShows on a single USB drive and I got that to work just fine. Then, I read that you can partition a USB drive used for TeslaCam use and LightShow use so you don't have to open the glovebox and swap USB drives. I use a Samsung SSD T500 drive for my TeslaCam, but can't partition it for adding the LightShows. Does the T500 not allow partitioning?

My Model Y came with it when I purchased it. Would I have purchased it myself ? Umm that’s honestly something to think about, but I did purchase FSD for 2k.
Does adding the boost reset your current standard mode to chill, and the current chill mode [slowest] goes away or do you get all three modes?
You only get two modes. Best guess is that the charge controller in the car can only save settings for two modes. So when you upgrade, the acceleration boost overwrites the firmware.
2 modes: Chill & AB, Standard goes away.
I got mine for free with a referral before referral bonuses went away. Love it, but I wouldn't pay 2k for it.
I have a 22M3LR which already significantly quicker than a MYLR. I recall the hot rod days 50 years ago, $2000 (2k then was a lot more than today) then might gain 1 tenth of second. Getting 6 tenths would have been much more. My M3 is scary fast compared to as you say almost everything on the road. Me, I won't spend the money on the acceleration boost, and I have the money. As my car is, there are limited opportunities to actually unleash it fully.

Model Y is the fastest vehicle that I've ever driven however spending another $2000. No. Around $750 maybe. Too bad they don't have a monthly subscription like the FSD so I could check out the difference first hand.
Subscriptions makes stuff a lot cheaper for one for two software upgrades in Teslas makes a lot of sense as a feature not everyone need the faster speed
You're better off just getting the performance model. It's a bargain compared to the long range with acceration boost.
How dose it effect your battery?
Doesn't physically hurt the battery at all. It just drains it a lot faster when you SEND IT! 🏎️⚡⚡⚡⚡⚡⚡⚡
Thx for sharing. The worst is the full subscription to FSD. when you sell the vehicle it will only be the good graces of Elon let you keep the function for your next Tesla. (If you're lucky) There is the monthly subscription for $99 but they could have made a killing by making it transferable.

Got the same car, waiting for the ludicrous patch to make it 2.5s (i'm hoping)
Give me a zero to sixty in 7 seconds. A 120 MPH top speed, and a 400 mile range. Zero to 80% charge in 10 minutes. It's not too much to ask.
Now if this was available on my MSP... :-/

This is inaccurate, 0-60 is 4.2 seconds and 3.7 with the boost

Your numbers are for the Model 3 LR that you were thinking.
