The MSRP _is_ ridiculous, but at the price you can get these for in the real world it's a pretty good deal in my opinion. It's quiet, better looking than any of the competition(and I use that term loosely, because it doesn't seem to actually have any competition), and very well equipped even in standard form.
FYI these are super cheat now, even with hardly any mileage. Can anyone recommend a good looking hybrid that is not 100% electric? This is the only one I was able to find. I really like the Tesla but I travel long distances every weekend and don't' want to be stuck if super chargers are full.
hybrids by definition are NOT 100% electric. Most upscale models from the US, Europe and Japan have a hybrid version these days. I get the long distance driving thing and Teslas (if you do it all the time)n but you are missing out.
Unfortunately I think less than 4,000 have ever been sold. For 2016 they upped the performance a bit more but in February they stopped production. So I wonder if the 2016 year will be a collectors model in time.......
This thing has some tough competition, considering it does not perform relatively close to the Model S, Panamera Hybrid, or i8. In my opinion, it's not much of a looker either, compared to the aforementioned vehicles, or to the rest of Cadillac's arsenal. Nonetheless, great review. I enjoy the added personality while remaining fairly objective.
Waste of money. Battery only lasts 39 miles and is only 207 hp. The 87 hp 4 banger kicks on after the battery dies. This car is over 4000 lbs. There's a reason it only lasted 3 yrs
It still has the same HP on tap when the battery gets low, the car is still electric drive. Only if the battery becomes too low (engine doesn't keep up) does max power decrease.
I just googled this: GM made just 3,000 of these over FOUR YEARS! Who does that? Did they hand build them in Mary Barra's garage? Short sellers keep complaining that Tesla doesn't have enough demand? Have they looked at GM? Amazing.
peter schiltz It's not the fuel economy, it is the payments that messes it up. In Europe or other regions, maintaining the car will ruin you. With cars like these, you don't have much to pay annually.
Very sexy vehicle! Love it's low slung angled design! Rebadged Volt better take another look my friend this is an eye catcher! Saw one in person & now it's on my list! Don't Know how reliable or how maintenance is going to be & how often but I'll do my research. Anyone owns one who can give some pointers??
even in 10 years this will still lookg futuristic good, damn if i can get one in europe ... but for around 5-10 k you can get a beautiful peugeot 406 coupe, more italian roots, with a v6 and very nice interior
@@abelpendleton73 Couple reasons. They were way overpriced when they first came out, they were almost exclusively leased and they weren't different enough from the Chevy Volt drivetrain to warrant the premium. I know 2 people that own them and they really like them at the 20k price. I was actually selling Cadillac's when these came out. They were 75 grand and it was a tough sell. After a few months, g.m. offered fantastic leases on them ( relative to financing) that further undercut their value.
Love my 2013 blue Chevy Volt that I bought used for ten thousand bucks. Way more practical than an ELR, has a hatch, a lot more used parts out there, big aftermarket following.
Overpriced piece of garbage... For that kind of money I would take a CTV Vsport and STILL have money to spare! I can't understand who GM targets with this car (other than Beverly Hills housewives or green hipster wannabes)
37 electric mi!!!? Man I was thinking of getting one but Cadillac should have made 100mi E plus gas!! 5 hr charge time for 37 mi?? I expect a lot more from Cadillac!
How can GM stay in business when it keeps making these turkeys and still remain in business? Even when they have a winner in the Volt the don't advertise it and then complain about sales? Why would anyone buy this over a Tesla Model S? Inconceivable.

Recommend a 2018 Chevy volt, ~ $20k right now
Styling alone almost justifies the price difference. It's a beautiful car. But 76 grand? No, no, and no.

For the price, I'd take a Model S every time.
Pick up one used in great shape with around 35k miles for under $30000. Now that’s a good deal.
190 hp for 30k lmao and only 2 doors with a horrible trunk space and garbage infotainment
Anthony Smith the issue you is the electric battery only has 31-39 miles of like which is literally nothing then it switches to a 86 hp v4
Great review.

At 1:30 their right outside the C-17 production facility in Long Beach CA...now closed
80 to a 100k for a "luxury car" thats good on gas? Who the hell spends this kind of money and worries about fuel economy?

Those that care about their CO2 emissions but then there's Tesla..

Beautifully angular and punctuated design.

These are on the used market for the mid $20,000 with 30,000 miles
I wonder why they so cheap now

Model S, hands down. Cadillac needs to ditch the capacitive touch switches until they can respond to shit.
+GGamer720 yea it's pretty horrible.
At least you can get one a new 2014 IN 2016 that was built two years prior.

This car looks fucking cool
really fantastic..
see ya ELR! The CT6 plug in is faaaaaaaaaaaar superior
2024, $15k

Great value now.
How about mentioning the 80hp gasoline engine
It’s not driving the vehicle directly, it’s charging the batteries and/or driving the electric motor. I believe it also has some capacitors.

really like the exterior look and interior except infotainment.
What the hell 76 grand just for a starting price? Is Cadillac on crack??
Tom DeVito it’s for people who don’t take any time of work, so they can afford it 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
1:34 I admit I laughed. Good video sir
Would have sold to the Chinese as a Buick.
This was Cadillac’s answer to the Tesla Model S?
Nope, this was first...
1 star ALG rating.
Yes
WAY overpriced
Thumbs up.
206 horse power
what did he mean with those tax credits?
i get tax credits if I buy this car?
The last year for Cadillac was 1981,after that it was just a mess, better end the brand to avoid more embarrassment.
I'd rather save and get an i8
Even used, the prius prime is a better buy
Cadillac ELR, a swing and a miss! Who approves ideas this terrible? I can do so much better as a GMs CEO!
Poor design
it's crap. not fast, gets as much mpg as a base Subi Impreza
Unless u plug it in
But yeah the engine efficiency sucks. Prius Prime gets 55 all day and more with plugging in
This car doesn't make sense. It just sucks.
If it was cheap enough it would have been great.
