- Offered for sale is this gorgeous example of the ultra-modern and incredibly efficient Plug-In Hybrid from Cadillac, a 2014 ELR in attractive Claret Crystal over Cashmere Leather and Alcantara. This is far and away the best looking hybrid vehicle on the market, and is loaded with technology and luxury befitting an original MSRP of over $75K. Power comes from a lithium-ion battery powered permanent magnet synchronous electric drive motor coupled to a DOHC 1.4 liter gasoline generator engine, flowing through a smooth CVT automatic transmission. It has regenerative braking ability, EV only, gas motor only, or combination drive (207HP). Safety features include lane and blind spot assist, radar cruise control, multiple airbags, Onstar, and more. Cadillac's CUE system adds navigation, Sirius/XM, Pandora, Bluetooth Phone and Audio, and a host of programmable features. Dual heated leather power seats, electric cup holder cover, soft-touch glove box, and more. Comes with 1 Master key, charger and case, and all manuals. Do not miss this one!
I know this ELR has long been sold, but the explanation of the modes is incorrect, so I will explain for people doing research for another one. The car does have an electric motor and gasoline engine, but it is propelled only by the electric motor. The gasoline engine spins a generator that creates the electricity to power the electric motor to propel the car. The gasoline engine does not propel the car. 'Tour' is the normal mode, the car runs on electric until depleted then the gasoline engine turns on to supply electricity to the electric motor. 'Sport' mode changes the acceleration so it is quicker off the line and very noticeable, when used correctly. In 'Mountain' mode the gasoline engine runs, to keep the battery at least half way charged. If it was previously depleted, the engine will run at higher RPM until the battery is half full, then it will maintain half level, to give electric boost as needed for hilly terrain. 'Hold' mode will start the gasoline engine to generate all the electric power for the electric motor, reserving battery power, for later when you want to keep the gasoline engine silent and off. At which time you switch to 'Tour', the engine cuts off, and you are total electric until the battery is depleted. Then the engine automatically starts, generating power for the electric motor. It is really the most practical way to ease your way into an electric car. They are fun to drive, and cheap to charge. Lots of places have free charge points. Great cars and a future collectible.
Great comment man. I just bought one this weekend and appreciate this info. I’m honestly pretty lost on the modes right now but I’ll keep this comment in mind for reference. Also where are the free charge points you mentioned? And if there are any other pieces of advice or tips you have please share if you don’t mind.
I just bought about 2 weeks ago….waiting for delivery!! I’m in Chicagoland and it’s in Central Florida. I can’t wait to drive it….got it for a great price…..I bought a extended warranty for my on security on upkeep….should be fun to own🤩
WOW 🎉 I could Totally see giving up HP 4 a stunning piece like this 😮
Your commentary had me and my Dad dying of laughter. Your analogies were so stupid and unique, yet so funny.
Is it still available I love it
Nice review. 😁💃✨👌👏
I always thought these were good looking cars. I remember seeing one for the 1st time pulling out of Dimmit Cadillac and was like oh wow what is that? Doesn't look like a plug in hybrid from the outside.
You forgot the secret glove box/compartment, behind the volume controls...
OMG, who hell is this guy?! Oh, that was 4 years ago.. compared to all the crap UA-cam's been spewing on my homepage lately, this was a very pleasant surprise.. brain surgery on leopards? ツ👍
❤️👍❤️🔥🔥🔥

This car was an overpriced joke when it came out. A car Cadillac would like to forget
Not in agreement that's a bulbous piece of crap, no wonder GM is in trouble.
