I’m a full time Graphic Designer, Game Dev, & UA-camr. I specialize in making cute, colorful games in Godot and telling my story through my videos. I also run my own little game studio called Firith. My dream is to hire my friends and make Firith a full-time job. I’m known for games such as The Keeyp, Wizbirds, Snomes, and Dewdrop Dynasty.

Y'know, it's quite interesting, that you are a part of a studio, while many game devs on youtube are either solo or not a part of any studios anymore, perhaps you can make a video sharing some experiences while working in it?

Oooo, I just had a great Idea: your a snowman, in the middle of summer. Each level you have a limited amount time before you melt. You have to traverse through the levels to get to a snow cloud. The levels show stages of the seasons starting from summer, and the end of the game is a winter level.
Thought I’d put it down because I’d probably forget later.

the editing is just pure gold 👌 and the gradual reveal of the tiles is such a spot-on concept, it gives real exploring vibes, and takes the whole design to the next level 😉 🔝🔝

i was about to join the jam, but now i saw it's a month long, and
a. that's super scary, because a month of work on a game is supposed to be a lot better then ill ever be able to do...
b. i don't have that much time, because i need to start working on something else im doing...

It's only a month long so people have enough time with their schedules. I generally only work on my game for a week for these game jams. haha Just because it's a month long doesn't mean you need to use the whole time. :D
@@Goodgis hmm yeah probably, but I still need to do the other project tho, and that one would DEFINITELY eat my entire month
From what Ive known a rogue-like is a game where you lose all progress after you die and a rogue-lite is one where you can get special upgrades characters etc and keep them even if you die
That's kind of true but kind of not haha. The most popular definition of a Roguelike is the "Berlin Interpretation". Rogue Basin has a great post on it.
Nothing kills scope creep faster then a deadline and best not to be late submitting to your own jam. Maybe you can unshelf Elf game for the Winter Jam. 👍

For the winter theme you could have made it related to the mouse king from the nutcracker
That's what I was going for. It's about mice and collecting cheese. I even had nutcracker music in the trailer! haha
Digging the content, may have to join the game jam session as my first ever. Curious, have you considered Unity instead of Construct? If so wdy think, if not whats keeping you from trying?
Oh, I've used Unity before. I've also used Unreal, Game Maker, Godot, and Pico-8. I've just never finished any of my games in Unity. I'll have to make a video on it to share my thoughts.

Top down as a limitation seems like it limits creativity too much. A big creative decision like that should be in the hands of the jammer that way you get more variety. A reasonable limitation would be a color scheme or a certain amount of levels or even an endless game.
Eh... ONE side project can't be that bad, right? :P

The Nutcracker. In The Nutcracker the villain is the Rat King. I remember that from Barbie in the Nutcracker.

How did a game create a genre of its own? That's quite something.

@@Goodgis this had me thinking, there aren't many other forms of media which can be defined as a genre and as the singlular. Example: Elvis Presley isn't a genre.. Perhaps you could make a genre defining game one day, you have talent, I'm not just saying that.

Game jem is one of the stuff i like the idia but i don't have plan to create one from meny reason
1. Even my small projects takes at least 7 days to created from myself
2. I like to improve my projects that means even if my project made from 1 day i still i create i few updates to improve the project
3. Most off my project is multiplayer i don't see meny games jem focused on mulplayer
4. The game jem has limited time that the most important i never do i game jem i don't want my project to by glitches or unplayable i want my project to be as best is possible with oute forshe my self from this

Yeah, it's kind of random whether or not people join. Our first one only had 7 people and our second had 270. Haha I'm not sure what happened.

@@georgedignum Probably Contruct 3, it's way easier and there is a free version of it.
you know you can make it so it only animates when the character actually moves

Are you talking about Squeaks & Squalls? It’s based off of the Nutcracker, and it takes place during winter. It’s hard to show all the detail with a few pixels haha
