Cool idea man, was a good call adding the fuel mechanic to give the game a bit more depth. I would have joined if I had time. It's a shame, cause I love that jam theme.
I feel like theres an opportunity to turn the thing where you can press space bar mid level to change speed into just a normal mechanic, and then make something about overall time in the level. it could be a neat balancing act of moving fast to keep the time down and moving slower to make those tighter turns. and that would be amplified as the level constricts on itself as you play the level more and get used to it.
Feedback that’s too late to even matter, from somebody who hasn’t played the game: If the movement was tile based like snake and Pacman then 1 block turns would’ve been easier without having to make the shit slower, assuming you can hold-buffer turns. Possibly. When the stage is in the first stage, the screen transition every time you die is a bit much to look at. It appearing later makes sense since the level is changing back.
Tip for Beepbox: There's a menu with a bunch of different modes, and you were using "easy :)" mode. To get all the notes, choose "expert" mode. (I don't know if you knew this already, just letting you know lol.)
Thanks for letting me know. I'm pretty sure I switched to expert once but was thrown off by all the new notes and things. Though I might give it a shot if I make music in beepbox again.
Depends on what kind of music/art you want to make. If you are interested in retro/pixely stuff I can recommend Aseprite for art and beepbox for music.
Idea. Infinite mode that once you die in walls a apear. Then the walls get closer and closer by a multiplicative amount (diminisheing) until the change is irrelevant and you get your score.
If this was possible during the timeframe, which it definitely would not be, Id make a galaxy exploration game where every time you die, the galaxy shrinks
