I made this video 3 hours before they banned Mana Crypt. Trust me, I didn’t want to record this video again…

Why is people not using the real cards a problem? As long as people don't just proxy broken decks, I don't see an issue

Well, I would like to own the real cards because playing with printed out versions of those cards just feels weird. This might not be the best way to say it, but it’s like having a “fake” version of Lamborghini even though it looks exactly the same…
Again, this is not the best way to explain it, but that’s how I feel

A better way of explaining it is that there is little reason to be involved in any collectible hobby if you do not own or desire to own the collectibles. One of the main appeals of mtg is building a deck of real cards well enough that it can beat your friends. It would be like 3D printing warhammer figs and not painting them, but still trying to play with them against those that have purchased and painstakingly painted them. I personally do not care for proxied cards in commander, and will not play CEDH at all as I think it’s against the spirit of the game.

If their hobby is playing the game then the cards being seen as "collectable" would hold significantly less value to them. I see no issue with wanting to use all the tools of the game and proxies allow for that for a reasonable cost.

See i never got this argument what's the difference between someone spending 30 bucks to proxy a insane deck they made and spending 2 grand making it

@jackwhite1341 for me the value of a card is basicly what my lgs will give me for it to make my next deck

Kinda like other things in demand like stocks. Some are pennies, some are hundreds. They also tend to be more powerful. High end high performance cards cost more than economy low performance cars. Price fixing is not the answer. All they could do is flood the market enough to crash the value. It would be like inflation in the US. They keep printing more money it makes the money out there worth less until it is brought so low the collectable part of the TCG disappears and people move to another game.

You’re completely right. In that case, if printing out cards that players want to buy isn’t an option do you think it’s better to keep in using proxies (for example like demonic tutor) or is there a better solution?

@@loltroll123 yes I think proxies is fine for a playgroup you know. The brackets will put a lot of that expensive stuff in tier 4. I do think things in tier 2 & 3 will go up in price once players have optimized staples for the decks in those brackets

I also think so. Personally I wanna play in Bracket 1 because it will be the cheapest decks in edh and you play against others that have similarly strong decks

My local playgroup only proxies cards we own. It makes it a lot more fair.

I can agree with that. It just happens that someone has the most expensive cards, even though their deck isn’t that strong but it just feels unfair for everyone when people have the most expensive cards that they wouldn’t own anyway because they are expensive.

Ppl will always use proxies to play and real cards to collect. That’s why MTG is awesome - you can play the cards and/or just collect the cards

Yup but you get my point why if someone spent the real money to buy a deck (like my $150 demon tribal) and than someone has a proxy deck which cost nearly nothing it makes me as a player not want to buy real cards anymore and just use only proxy to play with.
