I didn't end up commenting on the last video but I did agree with the person who was mentioning that the background of episode 2 was a bit distracting at times. I think this episode did a much better job of having something moving in the background for visuals but without distracting the viewer at all. These are such fun videos. You're very informed about cards and you keep pulling ones I've never heard or of never thought about for more than a couple seconds. Really enjoying them so far! Keep it up!
Admittedly I don't play it as often as I should (a lot of time my mana base actually can't support it since I only have like a pain land and a cairns land that can make colorless), but to me seeing that title was like "Unplayable Card - Cyclonic Rift" :P
Love the show concept. I do think this card is maybe not a good fit for the theme, since it is pretty obviously playable for the second mode alone. That said, you do cover a lot of reasons why it is a contender for non-colorless decks.
@@Unplayable-MTGI do think it’s too playable, multi colored decks have stuff like pain lands which can run colorless lands, sol ring, thought vessel, mind stone and such are also common enough
Also personally I dig the background. Not sure why people find it distracting, I much prefer this over a lot of the stuff I see out there with other channels.
Wow, fast turnaround on video output, don’t burn yourself out! Really enjoying the videos. Maybe Grip of Amnesia could be considered for a future entry? I thought that card was crazy powerful as a kid, due to not understanding that an opponent could choose to remove an empty graveyard, so the first casting of it would take the wind out of any future castings.
I run it in my Hapathra -1/-1 token deck. Not only i can lower power with the counters, but counter sorcery is much better than you think. Vast majority of board clears are sorceries, and not white/blue decks might use it as board protection
You mentioned tokens able to sac at instant speed is good but the scions sac as a mana ability so its even better, you didn't mention that so just thought I'd say that here.
I think its a sideboard ace for legacy. Doesn't counter suprem verdict, unfortunately. But hydro and pyroblast are useless to it. Maybe a must have for Eldrazi or other tron decks.
Warping Wail ... has seen some less play in my decks but back when it came out it played it a bit more, loved it in Mono Green decks most probably cause they have the easiest way to search up colourless producing lands.
Really like your deep dives aswell as challenging some commander-stats. Slick production skills in terms of font, centering, presenting card images etc. The background is better, but something's off. When you talked about lands - it fit. But everything else? Also your end-of-video-music is too loud compared to your voice (why even put music over your voice?)
This is great feedback. I'll keep working on the background for sure. As for the music, good call. I think I just like the song so I tried to include more of it? But you're right. No need to overpower my voice. I really appreciate your suggestions!
@@Unplayable-MTG hearing that song beginning and end ties it all together. Do you know what a sidechain is? You might aswell do your outro and let the song play afterwards
I think you are overrating the card a bit. While you make good points you need think what kind of deck would want this effect. You mention Maha as an example but Maha decks already play cards that all creatures -1/-1 as static ability. Why would I want a exile one creature when I can just lockout creatures entirely? Playing 15 colorless sources in a mono black deck isn't free either. Black decks often love maxing out coffers value and random utility lands make that harder.
I see your point, but I think you are still underrating it. In Maha, for example, there's no guarantee you draw a -1/-1 effect. And even if you do, what are the odds no one can remove it? Redundancy is important, and this is instant speed. Also, according to EDHREC, only about half of Maha decks even run Cabal Coffers, and most of those also run Urborg... I imagine many of those decks could find room for Warping Wail. I'm not saying it should appear in 100% of all Maha decks, but certainly more than it appears in now. And you're not even considering the 'counter target sorcery' mode, which Maha decks could almost certainly take advantage of.
I mean, the worst card is Great Wall. A Wood Elemental can theoretically still win you the game, One With Nothing has niche combo potential (even if other cards often fill the same role better). Great Wall just hoses plainswalk. Which last time I checked, I think there were roughly 6 cards in Magic's 30 year 10,000+ card history that have or grant plainswalk (plus or minus probably a few "choose a land type"-walk, but still) and most of them are also pretty bad.
Never underestimate the power of color break counter spells.

Thank you for the positive feedback and I'm glad this background was better! If you have any other suggestions, please share them :)

If only this could counter Cyclonic Rift :(
I've played Warping Wail in my mono-red Daretti deck for a long time, specifically for countering board wipes.

Hmm, maybe Warping Wail is TOO playable? Fair point.
@@Unplayable-MTGI do think it’s too playable, multi colored decks have stuff like pain lands which can run colorless lands, sol ring, thought vessel, mind stone and such are also common enough
This is actually awesome. I've never considered half these interactions. I'll have to keep this card in mind for future decks.
This time you nailed my whole Raggadragga deck haha
I would call this anything but unplayable! I've ran it for years and it still works today.
Also personally I dig the background. Not sure why people find it distracting, I much prefer this over a lot of the stuff I see out there with other channels.

Hell yeah Warping Wail, low-key a true pre-2018 Commander staple (in my playgroup)

Good point! I should have mentioned that in the video.
I'd love to hear what you could do to make Shaman's Trance or Radiate more viable
I've added both to my list :)
Good to know that everyone uses aetherhib's hypergeometric calculator, lol
very neat channel you got here, friend
Thank you :)

How about Screeching Griffin?
This spell is good, but I don't run sol ring or utility lands lol
what format would this card be best in?
I really only play casual Commander at this point, and that's where I would recommend it!
Null elemental blast is arguably better imo
Sure, but I'm not exactly saying it's the best colorless counterspell, just that it's worth playing :)
Circu, Dimir Lobotomist is absolutely non-command card, unplayable 100%.
I'll add it to the list!
Why is this in an unplayable video?

Vhati il-Dal
Yep, I mentioned him in the video. Definitely a slam dunk with Warping Wail!
What you need to find is the worst card in all of Magic and see if it’s usable, find a real stinker

Hah, you're right... That is really bad. I'll add it to the list (though I think that video will be very short!)
