The Downfall of Hearthstone is Here!
Hearthstone is dying and I want to talk about how blizzard can prevent that from happening. This is my favorite game of all time and it makes me sad seeing how it is not as enjoyable as it was before.

ppl are also leaving BG because of new microtransactions. i'm so mad, i love this fucking game. it's just sad to look at. i'm also an overwatch and a starcraft fan
That’s why I think if they make BG pay to win the game dies on 99%
The whole point of mercenaries was to be grindy with pay to skip grinding. Gameplay was an afterthought.
Sorry.. Game is still ok, good, have players.. Will not die any time soon... I gave like 2000$ and i do not regret one second of me being addicted and enjoying the game for almost 9 years now
this, as long as you're having fun and enjoying yourself it really doesn't matter. A dying game would have long queues whereas in hearthstone it takes 5 seconds tops to find an opponent, at least on non legend standard
Bro just move on. HS will never be good and Blizzard will never create a good game again.
Hearthstone is dying for like 10 years
im coming back after i dont know 8 years.... and the game looks the same... evertyhing is the same... how boring.. Even rank system is so fking boring. Im not motivated to grind
The new nefr actually make Demons Seed now a tier 2 deck in the wild at best.
because there are no meaningful turns anymore, its just OTK, clear and instant effects. setup and planning is a thing of the past like this game is about to be.
Yes that’s why I feel like the community should say that they hate to play against these OTK decks that do nothing just board wipe after board wipe until they kill you in one turn.
wild s tier
I grinded Mercenaries and maxed out all characters for free and shortly after they introduced the Final Boss mode (forgot the exact name) the entire mode just started crashing as soon as I logged into it.... literally unplayable, can't click on anything, get to see main menu for 2-4 seconds before the client crashes. I kept coming back every day for 2+ months hoping they would fix it and I could continue farming worthless renown and coins but it just kept crashing.
I feel that the game mode is good in core but how you said, it has big problems that need to be fixed…
Sorry mate I have to do this. "mercanieries". Love your videos though

@forsensmotd6795 oh, the stats changed. It's 0 now, sorry
i dont think u know what dead means. concord is dead. not hs. blizzard is a greedy company, if hs would not make any money, the game would be shut down.
@@G1nSan3 so by the same logic, the game is far from dead
coins should be removed and replaced with renown at all levels. you should have a multiplier on your account that will increase as you buy packs - this is to accomodate the infinite grind. this multiplier will improve value of packs no need to change balance for mercenary levels. some balance changes for pvp, and new mercenaries. you can have community design the mercenaries and just 1 person implementing it in the game - propably using existing assest. i do not think mercenaries can be heavily profitable but it should be a good gold sink.
I'd love if we got like 1 solo adventure per year, had a ton of fun with these modes...
Arena is most fun
Recently returned and found out duels were removed. Fuck you blizzard it was my favourite mode
In my opinion, wild is the best mode. It's an only real f2p mode. Time goes, but u have all your cards from previous expansions and can build different decks for all classes.
How? It's definitely the most expensive mode there is, almost all competitive decks have at least 5 legendaries in them. Wild is the least F2P friendly, it may not cost you anything because you're a returning player and had a bunch of cards from previous sets, but for new players it's by far the most expensive. Half the competitive standard decks have 2 or less.
I despise wild. How anyone can enjoy an experience in which you're locked into a paid deck and have to remember the ridiculous amounts of cards throughout the every expansion is beyond me.
@@taserrr my highlander mage has 31 legendaries in a deck. Sounds like a lot, right? But *only one* of them is from the last expansion. How many *new* legendaries do I need to play in standart? 2-3? It's 2-3x more. You can't play with all classes in standart without donations, but u can do it in wild if account is old.
@@theMichaelFFF Right, so it's the OPPOSITE of a free to play mode like you said. How the hell does an f2p player get easier access to 31 legendaries compared to 2/3?
I can agree. For beginners it is the most p2w mode but for returning players it is not that much because they alr have a lot of cards from the past
try turning down you framerate. hearthstone is bugging out and lagging when your system is better than their servers lol
Oh okay. Thx
keep putting out content. I love anything hearthstone BG
Will do. What is your favorite minion type to play btw?
The code please
It is in description
31:48 it’s become golden because wisdom ball
Oh now i see. Thx a lot!
In my opinion Cultivate and Kodama's Reach aren't that good, if not playing Big Mana or Lands or needing color fixing. A 3 mana ramp in green is actually quiet expensive compared to all the 1 and 2 mana package in green ramp. If you want to play your 4 mana commander turn 3, it overlaps. So especially three visits and natures lore are much better most of the time.
Yup but based on edhrec they are one of the best cards that green has.
When I start a new deck, I add 40 basic lands and go from there. I will replace some with utility lands and maybe cut a few lands for example if I have mana dorks. My decks are usually 38 to 40 lands in the end. I have an elf deck with 36 lands but that's because I have so many mana dorks and most elves are cheap to cast.
That’s actually a great way to build decks so you never have the problem of needing to cut out cards due to low land count
@@loltroll123 Yeah I used to add lands last and that was always a huge headache. Starting with 40 basic lands first as placeholders makes it so much easier. Then replace those basic lands with utility lands, dual lands, etc. and maybe cut a few depending on mana dorks, mana curve, etc.
Thank you, for some fine tips.
Glad it was helpful!
As a Rakdos enjoyer I'm pleased with this, I'll send this to the higher division to see if they approve of this.
The biggest problem with that will be if Vilis, broker of blood will sign it.
The warhammer chaos precon was kind of a demon tribal deck if you ran belakor as the commander
I actually own that deck and played with it but it felt like something was missing. You have access to blue color but demons don’t really benefit from it that much like for example zombies. I’m not saying that it is a weak precon but this version that I made feels a lot stronger and also more fun (for me).
Winning is a possible outcome not a necessity. Players who play the same Commanders and Cards prioritize winning and try nothing else, which becomes boring and frustrating if the Commanders are only the Top Ten. Finding the Balance is hard, but not impossible.
Exactly
Thanks for the great advice! Always looking for ways to improve my gameplay
I’m glad I could help and that you enjoyed this vid
Its not your responsibility to make the deck fun for others. It should be a consideration tho.
Yup
3:10 you my friend haven’t seen the changeling ur dragon. Basically a bunch of different creature specific anthems and some changelings.
I generally agree with the video and would also point out these problems: - playing overly complicated cards. If there is a card that has three different abilities, each of them a paragraph of text... as a commander or just a couple cards on board it might be ok, but otherwise it is just too hard to remember what does what and under which conditions, leading into many weirds triggers and other effects., which can be just overwhelming. - decks that have problem tracking their board state. E.g. creatin numbers of various small tokens and tracking which have summoning sickness, which are tapped, which of them have a +1/+1 counter on them... or copying creatures from graveyard, then doing weird stuff with the yard like putting the card to hand, but the card is on the table representing the copy... This made me cut the Sundial of the Infinite from the Feldon deck. - decks that don't do much but stall the game. The Hive Overlord decks seems fine to me, e.g. Unsummoning the lord by an opponent is a big weakness right there. But if then the game becomes a wipe after wipe without the Slivers really doing anything, it just gets tiring quickly - decks that can not rebuild and decks that don't run interaction, which can kind of lock someone out of the game even if the opponents don't want to do that (e.g. by a wipe, exiling the key combo piece which is the only way to win...) - decks that plan doing very complicated things for too many turns. Big turns are fun if they contribute to ending the game. They are not fun if they result in 10 minutes of playing solitaire and then passing the turn without anything really happening and then repeating this process over and over next turns
After reading this essay, I can only agree. Btw I didn’t want to make this video too complicated for new players. That’s why I didn’t include all the things you mentioned, but again I agree.
recently picked up magic again and for the first time im looking into commander format, was a great video to watch to hear some tips i should think about as a new player. i was actually looking into Rakdos as a potential commander I'd want to try. do you perhaps have a decklist for the one you have made? would be nice to see how others, more experienced players are building him
Well, I build him around Demons and Liliana’s contract. It is a unique build, which most people don’t expect, but I love it. If you go to “edhrec” there is basically the deck that I use.
Think of it like cake. Too much frosting can make it taste off, while too little can leave you wanting more. This idea applies to Commander too-it's about personal taste, not a strict right or wrong. This is a 'rule 0' conversation: telling someone they're wrong for loving tons of frosting is like calling someone foolish for preferring less. Just as with decks, win conditions, or card choices, people have different preferences. Some enjoy playing with stax, board wipes, or combos, while others might avoid them entirely. When you’re playing Commander with new people, play what you genuinely enjoy. Over time, if others enjoy similar playstyles, you’ll likely find a regular group at the game store. Embrace what you love-whether that’s the "frosting" or not-and seek out others who share your style, while staying respectful and courteous to those who play differently.
This was so well said that I have nothing else to add. The important lesson is that some people will feel negative about your deck and express it while you play the game but in the end if you’re not having fun playing this game then what’s the point of you playing it in the first place.
Truth!
My buddy has a grixis Marchesa deck, and I hate that thing. Not much can be done against it once it gets rolling. I have made 5 commander decks. They're all fun to play with and against. Buuuuuuuut the can drag on. Green black red spider style deck. Makes a lot of death touch things and summons big nasty critters. Blue black zombie deck. Makes an insane amount of zombies and beefs them up. Denies opponents to react if drawn correctly. Rainbow sliver deck. It's slivers with a preatorial twist... It's jin gitaxias lol Red black white demon, dragon, and angel deck. It's slow to start, but it mid game and onwards is oppressive. And a black tribal demon deck. It makes deals and screws all players over indiscriminately. It's really funny to me.
Love to hear you are having fun playing Commander and those decks look great. I believe it’s important to play what you find fun and what others also find fun to play against and mainly make games that don’t take too much time because I hate personally most when a game drags on for hours and hours.
Even though this technically doesn't apply to all decks, it's advice almost every commander player should follow. You can only really get away with very few lands if have a lot of draw and/or ramp and know what you are doing, and given that we are playing commander, I can confidently say that we almost always never fucking do.
So true. How you said this doesn’t apply to every single deck, but most players who are losing in commander lose because they just don’t have enough lands to play.
@@loltroll123 I have a pal that is running a Kalamax copy deck, and if his commander is killed 2-3 times, he's basically out of the game because he only have 31 lands.
If I play a deck with low cost spells and good draw engine I would drop to 32, elsewhere 37 is pretty fine to me
My favourite commander to run is Kami of The Crescent Moon. Drawing two cards per turn means that getting mana screwed is very rare for my table, and it's a mill deck so it still progresses my own gameplan.
I play 33 lands and 13 mana rocks (2 mana cost and only 1 4 cost ) XD
I play 31 lands in my primary deck. I'm usually flooded, because I play a combination of catchup spells (such as land tax) and mana rocks that add up to another 11 cards. So I have 42 possible draws that would give mana in some way.
my magic number is 34 it works really fine
I’m glad to hear that. I had 36 and I struggled a lot but if 34 works for you then you’re a lucky person
@@loltroll123 I don't think that in lucky, I love to play aggro with a low mana curve that's why I need less lands for my decks do their things, my point is that the number of lands depends on what are you playing and how are you playing. If you have a low curve in an aggro deck sure you can play a low amount of lands, if you are playing a landfall deck even if your mana curve is low run a bunch on lands that triggers your stuff sounds good.
@@loltroll123 There are ways to build decks where you don't need as many lands. I've seen people go all the way down to 30. If the average spell in your deck is between 1 to 2 CMC, then you only need to draw two lands in total to not get completely mana screwed. I'm not disagreeing with you, in that I know this video is mostly just offering a baseline for newer players to go by. What I'm disagreeing with is the idea that you need to be lucky in order to run a low land count. It mostly depends on how much mana you're expecting to want each turn, plus your own group's mulligan rules. For new players though, I generally suggest anywhere between 36 to 40. When you're learning the game, it's better to end up with too much mana rather than too little. Getting mana screwed is probably the fastest way for a newbie to lose interest, and a new player isn't likely to be specifically building the kind of pure low to the ground deck which can get away with a low land count.
@@ricardomora4531 Even with a landfall deck, you're almost always gonna be running ramp spells which pull lands onto the battlefield, so you're still probably just looking for the optimal curve.
How you sad with your own words for new players you recommend 36 to 40 lands and this video was meant for people who are struggling with their commander decks and maybe this was one of the problems their deck was missing.
37 lands is more then 1/3 of your deck. You can do with 30.
If 30 works for you then you don’t even know how lucky you are because when I had less than 37 I missed so many land drops each game
@@loltroll123 Now I could be wrong, but I'm betting that the reason you have mana problems is most likely because you have many high mana cards in your deck, and the reason I believe this is because you bring up two cards which give you unlimited hand size, which really shouldn't be a problem if you're playing more low mana cost cards then high mana cost. Everybody has a few cards which cost seven mana, because they're typically better then lower cost cards, but these shouldn't be the majority of your deck. The reason thirty lands works for me is because I don't really need all those lands, by the sixth or seventh turn my hand size is usually one or nothing.
@@Herbicide420not only are you not running enough lands but you seem to be missing card draw as well.
@@CBSiegmeyer3Having enough mana to play my cards is rarely an issue for me, I'm not going to say it never happens it's not a problem I commonly face. I don't know what you mean by missing card draw, if you're talking about cards that let me draw more cards I only have one deck with blue in it so drawing more cards isn't an objective for me in the majority of my decks.
@@Herbicide420 you will win more games if you are not running out of cards to play by turn 6 or 7. At least in my playgroup we usually don’t have a winner until turn 7-8 so you’d want to have some card draw to help keep your hand full of options. I have a hard time believing you are able to get enough lands in your opening hand and first 2-3 draws with only 30 lands in your deck. According to a hyper geometric calculator, with 30 lands in your deck you only have a 63% of seeing 3 lands in your first 10 cards. Unless you are playing EXTREMELY low to the ground you do not have enough lands to regularly play the spells in your deck.
I always run 50+ cards that produce mana in every deck.
That’s not a bad idea honestly
Way to many
I run 32 land and it works i run less cause i run a combo deck, you dont have to run 37 all the time it depends on your strategy and how low your curve is, i can also run less cause my mana curve is pretty low. My particular build doesnt use mana rocks i use dorks cause i need weak creatures to sac sometimes
Definitely if your mana curve it’s low then you don’t need that much mana generating cards, but an average deck played by an average player should have at least 37 lands.
@@loltroll123even with casual decks the curve and stuff matters before my deck was high powered i still ran 32 cause like i said for what i was doing it worked i find that the commander your playing matters as well mine is meren of clan nel toth
I make all my decks with 30 lands. They work. Deal with it.
If it works, then it works for you, but for me it doesn’t
Then you'll end up mana screwed much more often. If that's ok with you, fair enough. As long as you don't moan when you don't draw lands on curve, then nobody's gonna complain about your way of building decks in a casual format for a mostly casual card game.
How I said from my experience, I need at least 37 lands. Otherwise I’m always missing my land drops.
probably don't get Mana screwed because he's Mana weaving
I find your take a bit too superficial. Just bumping up to 37 lands isn't going to fix anything. Landbase is so deck dependant you can't put a single number on it. Nor for card draw, ramp, removal, ... I have decks where I run 37 lands but I also have decks where I only run 33 (E.G. commanders that give you mana in some way don't require a massive landbase). In addition I don't think you need a landdrop every turn, sure it's nice but not every deck needs it. Also, I'm sure I misunderstood, but I hope you're running more than 2 ramp cards in your decks :D On top of that "no maximum handsize" is so overrated and unnecessairy, unless you desperately need every single card in your hand and you're consistently drawing a ton of cards every game every turn. Just because I don't fully agree with your take/statement doesn't mean the video is bad! These are all opinions anyways.
I have no reason to argue with you because my video was targeted for beginners in Commander and new players aren’t really sure how they should balance their deck so I gave them a number from which they should start and see if they need more or less lands. I’m glad you enjoyed my video though.
In my experience, I run 33-35 and I've never run into any issues. Now, the first thing I do is run 10-15 pieces of draw. I do play mostly blue in all of my decks so it makes easy. So I usually have some way of continuously drawing. Rarely do I miss lands due to my heavy drawing energy. And even if I'm not dropping my whole hand right away, I usually have a nice grip throughout all my games.
I am honestly surprised that you never had a problem with land drops, but you have more than average card draw so it might work.
@@loltroll123 to be fair, my lgs are ok with proxies, as I sold everything, so being able to put in copies of ledger shredder, faerie mastermind, consecrated sphinx, and pollywog prodigy in all my blue is easy. It would be expensive otherwise. But yes I don't recall all of em but my main focus when building is making sure I always have cards in hand as when I play against others or borrow people's decks, i notice that it can prolong when board wipes happen and noone has cards left in hand. I don't combo out but I mainly want to have a hand most of the time with strong synergy vs just put all the gas out already.
Very good video, don't stop !
Thanks a lot!
