Hamburger Train, My Name is Mud is another, Frizzle Fry, Sgt Baker is good. They even had a cover of The Devil Went to Georgia
-Primus -Red Hot Chili Peppers -Nine. Inch. Nails. Those three alone make Woodstock 94 one of the best concerts in history. All they were missing was Alice in Chains and Tool, and it would have been perfect.
AIC was supposed to headline as I recall but sadly Layne was too sick by then .. Jerry Cantrell comes out on stage and jams with Les during "Harold Of the Rocks"
its amazing i can hardly watch an hour of "music" anymore, no matter who the performer is, without getting distracted. But this hour long clip kept me enthralled. Primus is just incomparable. and the crowd surfing/mosh pit is unmatched. better than watching any live sport
Don't act like the music inspired the mosh pit for primus. They moshed for Ritchie Havens when he repeated his opening song from the first woodstock. Yes they moshed to Folk. I saw a much much bigger pit when Siouxie and the Banshees played Waterloo Villiage during Lollapalloza Prime. Siouxie Sioux had apparently never seen a mosh pit before and kept pointing at the guys getting thrown up to stage light height by blanket tossers.
I remember watching this on PPV and I just couldn’t believe what I was hearing. I got obsessed with Primus. For me the best performance on Woodstock 94.

Too Defy the Laws is the most kickass Primus song their is, it's a shame that every time I have seem them live they never play it. I think I have seen them live 5 times and they opened with Blue collar tweakers everytime, not complaining though.
Everyone always talks about Les (as they should he’s literally a god) but man, Larry has got to be one of the most underrated guitar players of all time. Do you know how it is to play these obscure off beat riffs to compliment Les’s ridiculously difficult bass parts?
So much to admire about this performance. In fact, so many reasons why this may be the greatest live performance ever. The way Les orchestrates the sound so perfectly and controls the crowd with his bass is God like. I cant say there’s anyone better than him at his craft. To release A1 music and have Bass be the main instrument is beyond impossible. Yet Primus does exactly that. I would die to see this performance
The Jerry Cantrell part blew my mind. Saw another vid of Les,Jerry, and Trent rez hanging out before this was awesome too. Devastating to me AIC had to pull out but glad Jerry made an appearance.
Easily one of if not the best performance from Primus, I was never into them in the 90s bit now at 43,I love them and would have loved to be at that show. The mix of the base rhythms mixed with the crazy guitar work, absolutely amazing set of songs and I think they came out even better then on the albums...
11:20 After having just watched the HBO doc on the whole Woodstock '99 debacle, Les' comments on the festival receiving criticism for being overpriced seems quite prophetic That would bite them in the ass, hard. Seeing him strut about onstage whilst he slaps the hell outta his bass never fails to raise a smile and get my head bobbin'. Awesome set!
I don't think I've seen that documentary. But, I remember being ashamed as I heard the news coming out of there. Fred Durst, of all people, should have never been in front of a microphone in front of 3 people, much less 600,000. He's the perfect representation of "that guy" who shows up at a party, and ruins it. I remember hearing Kurt Loder talking after their set, and saying the most insane line I've ever heard; "Maybe Rage Against the Machine can put out these flames". :O 94 was the reason our generation deserved a Woodstock. 99 was the reason we didn't.
I'm an adult who grew up with Primus and all I want for my children is for them to grow up in a world where their entertainment can look like this concert.

Gotta play it inline with You Can't Kill Michael Malloy, The Toys Go Winding Down (they seem to line up in terms of taking the piss in the music, until the bass is slammed into your face), then Pudding Time after it isn't bad. Hamburger Train, My Name is Mud is another, Frizzle Fry, Sgt Baker is good. They even had a cover of The Devil Went to Georgia
I come back to this video at least once a year
I wish I could've experienced this, but I'm still grateful for discovering Primus at my age and in this generation (Gen-Z)
This was my generation Gen-X ❤
Siento lo mismo ojalá, añoro mucho a verlos vivido, igual soy de la generación z. Tenemos nuestras bandas pero me encantan los 90s.
I'm generation 2000s
@@lawlaw1Woodstock 94 was called Woodstock Generation X
-Primus
-Red Hot Chili Peppers
-Nine. Inch. Nails.
Those three alone make Woodstock 94 one of the best concerts in history.
All they were missing was Alice in Chains and Tool, and it would have been perfect.
Jerry Cantrell shows up in the last 10 minutes of this Primus set!
Bruh, nothing about Rage Against The Machine? I wasn't alive then, but still, and the waters were $6 per bottle
general juggler Oh, my bad. I forgot, I have to name every band that ever existed in order to not have someone bitch about my opinion.
AIC was supposed to headline as I recall but sadly Layne was too sick by then ..
Jerry Cantrell comes out on stage and jams with Les during "Harold Of the Rocks"
I know that Jerry comes out and jams, guys. Believe it or not, I watched the video I commented on.
its amazing i can hardly watch an hour of "music" anymore, no matter who the performer is, without getting distracted. But this hour long clip kept me enthralled. Primus is just incomparable. and the crowd surfing/mosh pit is unmatched. better than watching any live sport
once I start watching I need to finish, right from the first second.
makes me miss the 90s
Music nowadays is pretty good stuff. Don't do that with the quotation marks please.
In my opinion it is one of the Best recorded/filmed concerts of all time.😌
Don't act like the music inspired the mosh pit for primus.
NIN would like to have a few words...
@@ROBOTWORKMANI’m not a NIN fan but yeah they put on one of the best live shows in modern music history. It was an iconic moment whether you love NIN or absolutely positively loath them you have to recognize that moment in time as something unbelievably special.
@@aaronposter6852 Amen. Great show!
Considering Primus was a last minute addition. This was one of their best sets ever.
@@ROBOTWORKMANA few words about how they only have one good song?
You know les is feeling it when he does that low strut
It's my favorite!
I love this crowd and miss these days. Not a cell phone in sight and everyone jumping around. It’s exactly what a rock concert should be like
Lol
no tattoos
@@gregshanahan6766 ???
Yeah man.. Everybody's so into the music and moment itself instead of their fucking phone
Man, I was just thinking that, people were in the moment.
Such a genius as Lesley gets bored having to be this good, so he occupies his time by slowly, and goofily walking around the stage.
Hes so good at bass it almost makes them feel like a novelty act
They’re definitely a novelty act. Even if you don’t like them, you’ll remember them. They’re just so unique. And that’s why they suck;)
I mean you could accurately call it a Les claypool novelty showcase, incredible band still
I mean, they do bust out a banjo and stand up bass! Bonkers level of range
Because they are a novelty act to everyone who does not own a bass.
Les's solo at 18:24 is great. Shows some great left hand dexterity, whereas the focus is usually on his manic right hand.
Yeah, but random notes, apart from Star Spangled Banner lol
Mmmmm
@@leematheson3887 Its a solo, You don't always have to play the specific notes.
@@-Bishop-
True Micah. Good energy counts for a lot
If there such thing as shredding a Bass...this would be it
Everything about this is just top notch and to have Jerry Cantrell come out and jam. What an incredible time to be alive.
This is one of their best concerts.
No wonder only failed musicians who also wish they could fellate Frank "Hackka" Zappa listen to this noise.
@@From-North-JerseyFirst of all, I dont wanna do that. Secondly, GOO-GOO-GAGA.
Translating "GOO-GOO-GAGA": If you don't like this music, you can just shut the fuck up. No-one's forcing you to be here. We're trying to have a good time.
@@From-North-Jersey Who hurt you?
@@rrrandommman Les Claypool hurt my ears and got my cool snoopy blanket damaged when the normies ran away from the stage like it was a tornado full of running chainsaws and toxic waste barrels at a traveling roadshow style Lollapalloza.
it's trippy that most of the kids in this audience are grown with careers and children now.
or dead
I was there and I’m single and childless and still drinking.....
FUCK YEA!!
@@AttilatheThrilla haha there is always the exception
I was there for much of it, and I still live in the house I own that I could hear the concert outside. We drove to a friends house in town and went up and just walked in.
i would think 90 percent of them were racecar drivers and wrapped themselves around telephone poles
I always loved how Les dances when he plays. Has the funny walk going on.
Too Defy the Laws is the most kickass Primus song their is, it's a shame that every time I have seem them live they never play it. I think I have seen them live 5 times and they opened with Blue collar tweakers everytime, not complaining though.
They opened with American life last time I seen them.
Naw the most kick ass primus song is professor nutbutter
They opened with harold the second time i saw them
I'm the same with spegeti western
Everyone always talks about Les (as they should he’s literally a god) but man, Larry has got to be one of the most underrated guitar players of all time. Do you know how it is to play these obscure off beat riffs to compliment Les’s ridiculously difficult bass parts?
Fuck yeah Larry is imo THE most underrated guitar player
They are one of the best band with complimentary players and styles
Wow that guitar player is really amazing he gives an amazing sound to the band in this concert
Larry's a beast on the guitar..he and Les compliment each other perfectly...as do Tim/Bernie etc on the drums
Take your meds.
Seen blips of this but never full show so clear.
Great - the energy and heavy Attack of the instruments- unreal.
What a joy
The Jerry Cantrell part blew my mind. Saw another vid of Les,Jerry, and Trent rez hanging out before this was awesome too. Devastating to me AIC had to pull out but glad Jerry made an appearance.
Master of Puppets Encore was a real treat
Easily one of if not the best performance from Primus, I was never into them in the 90s bit now at 43,I love them and would have loved to be at that show. The mix of the base rhythms mixed with the crazy guitar work, absolutely amazing set of songs and I think they came out even better then on the albums...
Seek psychiatric help. If you like this noise you have some major issues you need medicated away.
I had no problem paying for this show. Great bands and a weekend I'll never forget.
94 was the reason our generation deserved a Woodstock. 99 was the reason we didn't.
@@animalmother1582'94 was Gen X and '99 was Millenial. Big difference.

There's more cathartic energy release in this one hour than there was in 2020 on the entire Earth.
30 years to the day, as legendary as ever.
I'm not joking I was there on the hill behind the camera on a hill. These were all new people and they got a taste of allll the mud. Best concert ever and possibly the best three days of my life.
Still unreal to realise this is now 30 years ago.
There's something about this concert that makes me keep coming back.

Their music will always be counter-culture whatever the time period. And I LOVE IT! They were so passionate about being themselves: the weird ones.
He is the antipop the man you cannot stop

Counter culture? Wtf you talking about
I was in the crowd. We had eaten about 5 or 6 different kinds of acid before we figured out some or all them might be real or really good. I remember fog and smoke everywhere and some weird cult walking around all in loin clothes acting strange. It remember the band " the band walking off stage Primus walks on and instantly starts jamming. An old hippy lady starts getting sucked into a giant mosh pit looked at me and psychically pleaded for my help and I psychically replied I can't I'm sorry. She was sucked into the belly of the pit never to return. Turns out after watching this video none of that shit happened. LSD is a hell of a drug.
