- Christian Decatur had an exceptional senior year of wrestling at CB. Aycock High. In the 2020 NCHSAA Wrestling State Championships, Christian Placed 1st, securing his 3rd back to back to back state title.

Memories 😭😭 i miss wrestling (even tho i wasnt that good my record is 2 wins 10+ losses) im a freshmen tho and it was my first year ever wrestling) so i got a good 3 years to improve. I miss the adrenalin rush before my matches it felt good, my coach says ive improved my cardio a lot but i need to work on my technique and know when to do a move. im mainly defensive so i wait for someone to shoot a single or double then i sprawl and get behind. But towards the end of the season i got more aggressive by putting pressure and taking more shots. I just hope i dont get hurt again becux i had to sit out for like a month and missed a few meets/tournaments kinda sad tbh 😭😭 but good luck to whoever reads this and is a fellow wrestler

Solid wrestler, no doubt. He should do well wherever he lands.
But looking at his state championship matches, his opponents were as sloppy as I have seen at a state championship level. Some of them couldn’t even finish on their takedown attempts! Kinda shocking honestly.
You think you’d see those guys at an Iowa state championship? Or Michigan? Pennsylvania? No way. There are no easy matches in states like that.
90% of the time, I’d take the runner up at any weight in PA over the State Champ in about 48 States
@@WHB667 And you’d be right to take those guys! Even runner up, in a halfway decent wrestling state, is an outstanding wrestler!
I don’t know if maybe the camera just caught these wrestlers at bad points in the match or something, but just from what I saw and the fact that it was more then just one guy that should not have been a state caliber wrestler, I gotta think that maybe North Carolina doesn’t produce the highest level recruits for college.
The guy the video is about looks solid, and he’s got the build for an elite wrestler and everything. But the competition level he’s facing in high school will hurt him in college. Even at a small college, you don’t get to that level without being a wry good wrestler. I’m assuming he wrestles tournaments outside of school though so he can see at least some competition. Beating garbage wrestlers will not help his future, I know that.
PA does produce some beasts. Iowa does of course as always. Michigan is very good as is Ohio high school wrestling. New Jersey is a hotbed to. Same with California. All those states, have grueling state qualifying matches even before you get to state. Which is why they produce such high level wrestlers. In my opinion at least.
@@WHB667 Just getting to states is really hard to do. Actually placing somewhere in the top 8 and you are probably one of the better wrestlers anywhere near you in the regular season meets.
