Now you need to do Rainbow - Stargazer with Dio and Richie Blackmoore! aboslute epic piece of rock history. Probably one of Dio's best vocal performance.
Dio is not dead, gods cannot die, he will always love through his music and the love he put into it. You should react to him performing live as that's where he shines.
Don't forget his Ronnie Dio and the Red Caps/ Ronnie Dio and the Prophets doing Doo-wap songs. "Blue Days, Blue Nights" and "Walking in Different Circles"
@@Fedorevsky He was apparently quite good at playing the trumpet as well and did paid gigs when he was a teen but when he found out about rock´n roll that was it. He always sounded great when singing even on the early recordings so he probably was a natural.
You have to check out one of Dio's best vocals performances, Rainbow live in Munich 1977 performing Mistreated. You can also check out Stargazer by Rainbow, thats another one where Dio sings very incredible. I mean he is always incredible but still these are awesome. Killswitch Engage made a cover of Holy Diver, for a Vocal Coach I believe it is worth checking out as well, Howard Jones's vocals are amazing too. Dio himself also liked that cover.
I don’t get why none of the reactors/vocal coaches have ever looked at this “Mistreated” it’s probably the best example of his live performance. The studio tunes are ok, but they are missing out with Mistreated
100% agree, "Mistreated" live in Munich and "Stargazer" (studio version) are a must when listening to Ronnie James Dio, not to mention Ritchie Blackmore's guitar and song composition.
Rainbow in the Dark is my fav. All the Fools Sail Away is my sleeper pick. Dio also replaced Ozzy in Black Sabbath, joined Ritchie Blackmore in Rainbow, & formed Heaven & Hell after everything else. There are many hits among all his works. I'm sure everyone can suggest their favs from these here in the comments.
Stargazer, last in line, straight through the heart, children of the sea or sign of the southern cross etc etc can’t go wrong with Dio. There’s a video of him singing with a symphony that’s worth checking out also
Hell.yeah brother, welcome to Dio. What you miss here vs his live performances are his skills as a frontman/performer. They broke that mold when they made Ronnie.
For Dio Rainbow Stargazer is a must, Heaven and Hell, The Last in Line, Rainbow in the Dark. This is is a nice song, but about 20 percent of his musical and vocal range
I saw him live for this tour 3 times, same with Last in Line and Sacred Heart tours, every show was great. a vocal powerhouse and a genuinely nice man. His stage shows were always entertaining, a few he had a large animatronic dragon that he would "battle" on stage.
Saw all the recommendation down below, I believe that "Stargazer" by Rainbow is the most iconic Dio song. It`s strange to see that a vocal coach starts his Dio journey not with "Stargazer" first.🧐
Dio, Rob Halford and Bruce Dickinson are generally regarded as the three headed dragon of the best metal voices. Due to be the youngest of three, Dickinson himself was heavily influenced by some of Dio’s earlier stuff.
This is a great song. All of Dio’s work is very impressive, although I find what he did in rainbow to be his hardest songs vocally, namely stargazer and gates of Babylon. Dio was also in Black Sabbath after ozzy. Dio’s voice did change a bit as he aged, but he didn’t lose anything like a lot of his contemporaries did. Even at the very end he could still impress. One of his last songs, bible black by heaven and hell, is worth a listen.
He was one of the greatest vocalists to have ever lived. You need to watch something else then this. Mistreated Rainbow Live in Munich 1977. The greatest vocal performance in rock history. You won’t believe your ears.
😄 videos of that era are hilarious! The one thing I remember of the 80s is how bad the tone was in almost every band recording. I love Dio so much and have seen him so many times. Recorded tone was never the same live ( thank god ). Live, the music punched you in the gut, not pierce your ears with that tinny sound. His last album with Heaven And Hell ( formally Black Sabbath ) is simply AMAZING. Check them out.
One of the reasons I loved Dio with Tony and Geezer was because their albums were engineered so well, compared to many earlier Sabbath albums with Ozzy. The same goes for the Dio albums. I can crank them up on the home theater or the 2000 watt monster in my car, and they hold up well at high volume levels.
He credits is vocal/breath control to playing trumpet in the school band. He was asked once by a fellow metal/rock singer about his pre-show warmup, did he do anything special, his response, a glass of wine, half a joint and hit the stage, saying "If you have to warm up, you don't have it"
Dio had the most amazing rock voice of all time. Just a powerhouse!! Next check out songs Rainbow in the Dark & Heaven and Hell (with Black Sabbath). 🔥🤘🤯
You should check out heaven and hell, Wacken 2009. That's him with black Sabbath, the whole old crew, and less than a year before his death. It's a magnificent show. Seeing four guys in their 60's, and Dio with terminal stomach cancer, absolutely knock the show out of the park. You should check out any song from that set, it's amazing.
Fine reaction, sir! Might I suggest the magic of Stargazer, with Rainbow! The live video with most likes... ;-) Hard one, to top... He is the King, RIP King.
How on earth have you lived so long without hearing Ronnie James Dio?? I think The Last In Line would've been a better choice. Either way, he was amazing. RIP
Live Dio is worth checking out when you get the chance to. I'm sure you'll get around to it at some point. We'd love to hear your opinion of this musical "beast" in its natural habitat😉
Holy schneikes how is this the first time I've seen this video? I've loved Holy Diver as a classic since I was a wee lad! Yo Ken - Do Loved by the Sun, by Tangerine Dream?!
Black Sabbath's Heaven And Hell live performance (on the official channel) and Rainbow's Stargazer are required watching for reactors delving into Dio. Well, at least for our gloriously charismatic Elizabeth Zharoff. 😉
I am a fan of rj dio since more than 40 years ago he was unique and unrepeatable I cried so much when he left and I will cry when I hear this girl is incredible
Dio with Black Sabbath was great stuff ... You should do a Mushroomhead reaction.. they don't get the attention they deserve.. they have many singers and a fusion of different styles.. I suggest Solitaire Unraveling first... But Qwerty is their most popular song with about 45 million views..
Great reaction! About his pronuncing of the word light, there is more of english inspired ponuncing in his singing. I think R J Dio was very much inspired by the British metal scene and British culture and he also collaborated with many British musicians through his carreer.
This is a certified banger, but not the best one for a vocal analysis. Heaven and hell live, stargazer live, and rainbow in the dark live. All the older original live versions. Trust me, you won't be disappointed!!!
Ken, you need to listen to Stargazer by Rainbow. It's a masterclass in vocals. He was in Rainbow before he joined Black Sabbath. You will love it, and it's live ... somewhat (tour video/recording). ua-cam.com/video/rVXy1OhaERY/v-deo.html
HE NEVER HAD A VOCAL COACH HE PLAYED TRUMPET AND ZERO SINGING LESSONS I SEEN HIM LIVE IN NYC WITH SABBATH IN 1980 AND 1981 HE WAS SO GOOD LIVE ZERO AUTO TUNE OR PITCH FIX CRAP.
Dio's, always, been a great singer; however, there's a wonderful, Lounge version of this done by Pat Boone. It's, almost, better than Dio's..., almost. Also, consider listening to his live versions where he's much more emotive with his singing. (As for how he handles a sword, c'mon, garden gnomes are taller than Dio. He needs both hands on the hilt to have any hope of holding it up!) ;)
5'4" of sheer ferocity...the definition of heavy metal vocals...R.I.P.
❤️❤️❤️❤️
Awww yah he's my height
Now you need to do Rainbow - Stargazer with Dio and Richie Blackmoore! aboslute epic piece of rock history. Probably one of Dio's best vocal performance.
Definetly!
Dio is not dead, gods cannot die, he will always love through his music and the love he put into it. You should react to him performing live as that's where he shines.
Ronnie James Dio is Everlasting!
Right on man
You should listen to some of the live performances to appreciate the genius of "Dio"
As with Bruce and Geoff, his best is the live stuff. Your ears are in for a massive treat. Enjoy 🤘
DIO HAD NO CLASSICAL TRAINING!! HE was born with a gift! HE SANG FOR GROUPS: ELF, RAINBOW, BLACK SABBATH, DIO, HEAVEN HELL. A true METAL GOD/ICON.
Don't forget his Ronnie Dio and the Red Caps/ Ronnie Dio and the Prophets doing Doo-wap songs. "Blue Days, Blue Nights" and "Walking in Different Circles"
He had no vocal training whatsoever.
He played the trumpet as a kid and said he used the breathing he learned and trained up for that for his singing. Which is very interesting.
@@Fedorevsky He was apparently quite good at playing the trumpet as well and did paid gigs when he was a teen but when he found out about rock´n roll that was it. He always sounded great when singing even on the early recordings so he probably was a natural.

100% this might be the best vocal performance ive seen on video.
100% agree, "Mistreated" live in Munich and "Stargazer" (studio version) are a must when listening to Ronnie James Dio, not to mention Ritchie Blackmore's guitar and song composition.
@@wtglb because it’s 17 min long

I for one am shocked and appalled. Shocked and appalled.
It's never too late to start though.
Heaven and Hell is a must-listen. Dio at his best.
That solo debut album is a masterpiece.
Stargazer, last in line, straight through the heart, children of the sea or sign of the southern cross etc etc can’t go wrong with Dio. There’s a video of him singing with a symphony that’s worth checking out also
Stargazer is beautiful
Never listened to Dio before?!?! What?
Well he can't say that anymore 🤭
Been down too long in the midnight sea.
A vocal coach and just hearing rjd. Excellent
Hell.yeah brother, welcome to Dio. What you miss here vs his live performances are his skills as a frontman/performer. They broke that mold when they made Ronnie.

Dude, Black Sabbath with Dio HEAVEN AND HELL.
RIP Ronnie James Dio you will be missed BUT never forgotten
Yes indeed, his music is eternal. Rock In peace.
Thank you Ken. Now it's time for "Stargazer". Absolute masterpiece.
got to react to him live, it"s even better!!
I was going to say that! He was an amazing rock vocalist. One of the best!
I saw him live for this tour 3 times, same with Last in Line and Sacred Heart tours, every show was great. a vocal powerhouse and a genuinely nice man. His stage shows were always entertaining, a few he had a large animatronic dragon that he would "battle" on stage.

Dio, Rob Halford and Bruce Dickinson are generally regarded as the three headed dragon of the best metal voices.

Then Chris Cornell came along😎 Another one of the most powerful voices in rock and roll❤️
A butter knife to Ronnie is a long sword to be fair. Love the guy RIP
😂 If I'd have been drinking something when I read this I'd have spit it out or choked on it🤣

Holy Diver is just a masterpiece of music.
Next Dio should be Heaven And Hell.
Here is one of his best live performance done 334 days before his passing.

Stargazer is definitely the place to go next. Not solo, but while Dio was part of Rainbow, which was Ritchie Blackmore's project (Deep Purple).
He credits is vocal/breath control to playing trumpet in the school band. He was asked once by a fellow metal/rock singer about his pre-show warmup, did he do anything special, his response, a glass of wine, half a joint and hit the stage, saying "If you have to warm up, you don't have it"

last in line, live from the spectrum 1986. Black Sabbath Children of the sea with Ronnie on vocals

Last in Line (Live) is a must listen
As a lifelong Dio fan and HEMA coach I’m so happy you enjoy both!
Dio LAST IN LINE really shows off his vocal range...
Fine reaction, sir! Might I suggest the magic of Stargazer, with Rainbow! The live video with most likes... ;-) Hard one, to top... He is the King, RIP King.
Definitely take a look on Dio's entire career- starting from 60's pop era (Dio and the Prophets) to 70's early metal in Rainbow.
U described him so well.
How on earth have you lived so long without hearing Ronnie James Dio?? I think The Last In Line would've been a better choice. Either way, he was amazing. RIP
Should really check out Dio in Black Sabbath with their song "Heaven and Hell"!!!
His legend never die 🔥🔥🔥R.I.P TRUE METAL GOD🤘🤘🤘

Shame On The Night is my favorite song of his. Really shows of his range and ability I think.

Dio, after he went solo, performing Heaven and Hell (from his Black Sabbath days)

rip Dio 🤘
Classic!!! 🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻 RJD is a god! My Sicilian brother!

his albums are great but his lives are even better

You intro had me dying!!!😅😂 Dio is so much fun. Last in line will make you break everything in your place
Anything live Any Era he is a god.
Great choice👍
Listen him live «Mistreated» by Rainbow. «Heaven and Hell» live 1980 during his Black Sabbath days
Dio with Black Sabbath was great stuff ... You should do a Mushroomhead reaction.. they don't get the attention they deserve.. they have many singers and a fusion of different styles.. I suggest Solitaire Unraveling first... But Qwerty is their most popular song with about 45 million views..
If you got the time >Catch the Rainbow< live from "On Stage" shows Dios whole spectrum.
Wait for it legendary!
Dio was a master! RIP...
Please watch anything live in 86. Rainbow in the dark, We rock, don’t talk to strangers, etc.
WE NEED MOAAAAAR DIOOOOOOOOO!!!!
It's about time this happened!
I grew up with music and singin in Norway. There are SO many great metal singers out there. :)
Great reaction! About his pronuncing of the word light, there is more of english inspired ponuncing in his singing. I think R J Dio was very much inspired by the British metal scene and British culture and he also collaborated with many British musicians through his carreer.
Fun fact: Dio in Italian literally translates as God. Quite fitting for the god of metal
\m/ IN DIO WE TRUST \m/
His origins were italian.......🇮🇹🇮🇹🇮🇹🇮🇹🇮🇹🇮🇹👑👑👑👑🔥🔥🔥🔥⚡⚡⚡⚡
Highly recommend checking out Ronnie with Rainbow - "Mistreated" and "Catch the Rainbow" Live in Munich 1977
As has been mentioned (demanded?): Stargazer, by Rainbow.
I was so fortunate to have gotten t know Ronnie. W O W!
Go on and check his stuff with Rainbow and Black Sabbath!Dio is such a Legend!!!
So glad you popped your Dio cherry but this song doesn’t give you any idea how he can really sing.
Keep diving deeper. 🤘
Rainbow Stargazer. Dio at his best
3:18 That's Murray. Often on Dio's album art and on stage during live shows.
Dio started as doo whop (sp)? singer check out his buttery, smooth style back then🤟🤟
Rainbow- “Stargazer”
Dio’s best ! You won’t be disappointed 🤘🏼🤘🏼
ALWAYS listen to Dio LIVE!!!
You should listen to Stargazer from Rainbow. It’s probably his best work
He also did a METAL version of LIVE AIDE.
Yes! I love trying to belt out 'We are stars!' Can't hit any of the notes though- epic song! ❤😊
Only the bangers survive...
Heaven & hell, Last In Line, Stargazer & Rainbow In The Dark are great songs to check out!
This is a certified banger, but not the best one for a vocal analysis. Heaven and hell live, stargazer live, and rainbow in the dark live. All the older original live versions. Trust me, you won't be disappointed!!!
Best dio is Statgazer when he was in rainbow. İt s an amazing one
I saw him with Black Sabbath for the Mob Rules tour his voice was powerful and the band was smoking 🙂
Ken, you need to listen to Stargazer by Rainbow. It's a masterclass in vocals. He was in Rainbow before he joined Black Sabbath. You will love it, and it's live ... somewhat (tour video/recording). ua-cam.com/video/rVXy1OhaERY/v-deo.html
Ken- try a Dio ballad- 'This is your life.' It will make you cry. 😊❤
Please listen to him when he was in Rainbow , you won't be disappointed 😊
Right artist, wrong song ! 😂
You'd better chosen "Stargazer" by Rainbow feat. Ronnie Dio. 🤘
Dio's masterclass.
HE NEVER HAD A VOCAL COACH HE PLAYED TRUMPET AND ZERO SINGING LESSONS I SEEN HIM LIVE IN NYC WITH SABBATH IN 1980 AND 1981 HE WAS SO GOOD LIVE ZERO AUTO TUNE OR PITCH FIX CRAP.
For dio - heaven and hell
Never listened to the King? Oh man, welcome to living life in all its entirety now. 🤘🏼 Dio is a God
Dio's, always, been a great singer; however, there's a wonderful, Lounge version of this done by Pat Boone. It's, almost, better than Dio's..., almost. Definitely need to do "Rainbow in the Dark"
Do Rainbow - Temple of the King, Ritchie Blackmoore's guitar work combined with RJD's voice gives you thrillride through music ;)
Ronnie James Dio is the G O A T. 🤘🤘🤘🤘
The difference is Dio was that clear live while the others you mentioned were great but just behind Dio’s live performance.
STARGAZER!!
Dio - All the fools sailed away
The last in line was the album right before this and also the green album
Dio was great!!
This the cut-down single version, the guitar solo got the middle spliced out of it.
Above Metal Heads Dio is considered "A kind of heavy metal Freddie Mercury"...in few words more than a god 😁
