  • Replacing a circuit board in a Genie Excelerator IDS990 is much cheaper than buying and installing a whole new opener. It only takes 10 - 15 minutes. NorthShoreCommercialDoor.com (800-783-6112) is a great source for finding replacement parts for your garage door openers.

    Awesome, because I'm just a li'l ole lady in Pasadena who wanted to program my car so that it wouldn't need any remotes, but couldn't even figure out how to open the cover! And by watching the video, you showed me in 2 seconds flat! Then I watched another video so that I could figure out the "training" button thingy. And then, finally, I watched a training video from Mercedes on how to program the buttons inside the car. Three videos, three programs. I saved myself at least $140 for the garage door people not to come out. THANK YOU!!!!!!!

    I am so happy you posted this! We had a heavy storm with Lots of lightening last night and today my gdo didn't work. Wouldn't you know I was leaving for work with no time to spare. Tonight I checked my circuit breaker (just a guess) and nothing had tripped. I did an internet search... I ended up unplugging the unit and plugged it back in (who knew! Lol). I would've never guessed seeing the lights on the wall controller were lit. The opener worked (several times), woohooo!! You just saved me a call and Most importantly the cost for a repair company. Thank You, Thank You, Thank You!

    Yes good video! To make even better please start by telling viewers the problem and what functions that board affects. I did read all comments where someone else asked and you did reply. thank you!

    Sorry Peter Tours, I don't have one, but I recall seeing one somewhere. However, it's pretty simple you disconnect the ribbon cable and the control wires from the terminal block at the rear of the card (end away from the door). I believe there are two screws securing the board in place. Once you have to carefully work it past the counter empellor from the motor. Then reverse the order with the new board. PLEASE remember to disconnect the power before doing it.

    Before you replace your controller board, check fuse first. Mine looks ok but the fuse is open. Got a 10A fuse from a local electronics store or Amazon. HD, Lowers, Radioshack don't carry it.

    What they do not tell you is that you should check the wire connection where the wire attaches to the top of the door closest to the opening. If it came lose nothing will work. Plus it doesn't cost a cent.

      This is not a full trouble shooting video. It was a known lightning hit. This was about determining which board was bad and replacing it. However you have a good point for if an operator just stops working. You might also want to make sure someone hadn't just knocked the door closing safety eye out of position.

    You failed to tell us, what exactly was your problem to begin with?
    Was your door failing to receive commands from the remotes and the wall switch?

      Bill - The unit would not take a command from either the wired or wireless controls. It appeared to be dead in the water. I checked that I had power from the receptacle to the unit/board with my multi-meter.

    I have model ISD 995. How and from where I can get the control board. What is the part number of this control board. The Genie garage door opener's green light is blinking one time continuesly.

    is there a capacitor in there? I am having trouble finding the right size if there is, we didn't open it to see but by the look of yours it doesn't seem to have one? If there is can you tell me the size needed? Our door start to open and then stops a few feet up after the electric goes out but and if we reset the breaker most of the time it works and if it does it works very sluggishly the first time and then works normal again.

      They are programmed to go up very slowly after a power outage. It needs to find the home position before it can operate at full speed. There are some small capacitors on the other board. Make sure your springs are balanced and your pulleys are in good shape. Especially when it's colder, worn pulleys or springs that are worn or not balanced side-to-side can make the door stall on the way up or down.

    I'm trying to program a remote for this same model ISD990 but can't find any learn button or LEDs on the unit. Any ideas? Too old to be programmable?

    • @dwayneshrader9065
      @dwayneshrader9065  2 роки тому

      The programming button should be on the back left corner of the drive cover where the white cover is hinged to the red cover. If you do see it there, you may have to open the white cover to access them. I'm traveling right now. When I'm back I'll try to get you a picture.

    I am looking for Screw Drive for this model ISD990. I wonder if screw drive from extension kit of newer models work? Thank you in advance

      Best to check with the manufacturer. I would wonder if it would be long enough and you don't want to piece too many pieces together due to maintaining screw strength.

      +Everything home repair - In my opinion they are as god as any other shelf brand. I've personally had 4 (two different garages) over the last 30 years or so and this is the first issue I've ever had with the operator. I've installed 6 or 7 for family and friends and the only issue I've had with any of them are the cable pulleys wearing out. However, that's typically been after 10 - 15 years of use and I've also replaced them on other brands as well. So I consider that normal wear.

      Hi Stan - Sorry it took me so long to get back to you. I was out of town on a client's project. No I don't have a spare sequencing board. I've always had luck with NorthShoreCommercialDoor.com (800-783-6112). You might give them a try.

      I saw that in your vid and called them, they told me to call the factory so I did. Turns out the opener has a lifetime warranty that I didn't know about! Thanks again! Stan

    • @DGRIFCO

      Arsmer, that is some sort of counter impellor. It senses the motor speed during decal.

    How did you know it was the board?

    • @dwayneshrader8562
      @dwayneshrader8562 10 років тому

      Coffeefish. I was able to cheat a little. I have an identical operator on my other garage door. So I was able to trade the two boards between the openers. When I put the board in the opener on my wife’s door, which still worked, it wouldn’t work. When I put her board in my opener it worked. There are two separate boards in the openers, so I traded combinations back and forth to narrow it down. It took less than 10 minutes to narrow it down to the board I replaced. The odd thing is that the openers are side by side on the same circuit, but only my opener was damaged.
