- If you own a GUARDIAN 628 electronic garage door opener and it will not open or close count the number of beeps. If it is 12 beeps, chances are you have a bad main circuit board. It can easily be replaced if you are a little handy. All you need is a screwdriver. Parts are readily available from North Shore Residential Door 800.783.6112 or www.northshore... Presently, as of4/2/21 the board is $45.00 from the company listed in the video.

Thanks for this. got 12 beeps, tapped the outside with a screwdriver and it worked for about another month. Today it was done. Got a new board and it looks easy to install. thank you

Hi Mike, Glad we could help but tapping is only a temporary fix. If you find it happening over and over, PLEASE consider replacing the board. It isn't that expensive or hard to do. Think about this, you are in a hurry to go someplace and your garage door will not go up or you pull out of the garage and the door will not go down. Big headache, you will have to release the door from the mechanism.

Followowed the instructions and had absolutely no problems.. my only change would be to leave the the 2 black brackets on the panel and remove them from the box by the 2 screws that hold it to the box. Thanks for the help

Unbelievable! But 3 taps and my garage door is opening again. This gives me time now to order a new circuit board for the next time it fails with 12 beeps.

So the tapping worked like charm
Glad it helped but keep in mind that is only a short term fix. You may get away with the tapping method a few times but sometime when you are really strapped for time you may get jammed. Fix it properly ASAP. 50 bucks ain't worth the aggravation it may cause you if you are pressed for time or in an emergency.

5/28/22 Tutorial and repair still works. Just did it for on my garage door. Shipping for the board only took 3 days too.

I know it was a blown board, but seeing you touch it with the screwdriver made me flinch like you were going to short it out lol
I turned off the power before I worked on it. It wold not be good if it started accidentally and my fingers were in the gears. :)
@@AZCAMERAREVIEWS I was talking about frying the board by electrostatic discharge, which can happen even when the power is off and fully drained. It's happened to me before when I accidentally touched my old computer's motherboard with a screwdriver. Always something to be weary of.

I just replaced the circuit board it beebs 6 times when I press the push button on the wall but doesn't work. When I press the limit button it beeps 20 times. However the tapping with the screwdriver did work Thanks for that. After that I immediately ordered the circuit board but unfortunately it did not help.
Go to the manufacturer website or search on the internet for error codes. If that does not help you diagnose the problem, call tech support. Truth is, that is how I learned about why my operator was doing what it was and the tapping method. After it worked and failed again after a while I learned I needed to replace the circuit board. TS is very helpful.

Wondering you have any advice on an opener that beeps 20 times? This happened a couple months ago. The sensor lights were both out and my technician said he reprogrammed the motor to fix the problem. He said this might be due to "manufacturing issues", which I found a bit concerning. Well now the problem has returned and my technician is no where to be found! Not sure what to do now. Thanks.
Hi Dennis,
20 beeps is a signal that the Photo Eye Safety System has been obstructed during door closing. Check the alignment of the Photo Eyes. A solid red and solid green LED on the Photo Eyes will indicate alignment. A Guardian operator will function properly only with Photo Eyes made by Guardian Access Corp. Check the all wires are tight. You may have problems with the sensors or the sensor board circuit. If the obvious things don't fix the problem, call Guardian @ 1-424-272-6998 or 1-972-449-0484 .

I am not a garage door repairman by trade. I only repaired the problem with my door after calling Guardian technical services. You can call Guardian technical services and ask them what six beeps means. If you do not want to call Guardian and ask them about what the six beeps mean, you can go research it on Google and query, Guardian electric garage door openers six beeps. That would be the easiest way to find out what is going on with your opener. Again, I am sorry I cannot help you, but I only address the problems at hand.
My garage motor refuse to program the remote and everytime i press learn button is beeping three times I don't know why
You need to call the garage door company. I only know about this particular mechanism and this problem. I am not a garage door mechanic. Sorry . Look up error codes for your make and model.
Nice video dude. I personally am not a fan of these, I would much rather a genie opener. Hopefully I never have to work on one of these lol
I have heard this numerous times from others. The problem is, most of us are uninformed about what to buy and we are victim of what the installer suggests or what they have on the truck when they arrive. Most consumers are in PANIC MODE and are just concerned on getting it repaired and hope the vendor is supplying them with a good product as opposed to an operator that has a high profit margin. This was what was here when we took ownership as with many homeowners, when you move into a place you don't say, "hmm, I am in my new home, lets change the garage operators". I hate spending lots of $$$ on repairs so this is why I offered this fix. When the motor dies, it will be time to replace the whole operator. @@AZCAMERAREVIEWS for sure. As a matter of fact, chamberlain claims that their DC motors are 1 1/4 HP equivalent and in reality they are only 800 newton's, which is the same as 1/2 HP. There is so much misinformation in the garage door industry.
@@TBHD724 I could not agree more. Most stuff is just hype! They pull a few units off the line, tweak them and use them if they are ever called out on specs. In the audio business, we used to call that SPECMANSHIP!!!

how to disconnect/connect those photo eye wires from that special switch. I am looking for that part. Just pull it out?
See 4 minutes 5 seconds in. Push the tabs and remove the wires. Remember or mark where you removed them from so you replace them correctly. Mark the wires 1, 2, 3, 4. I hope that helps.
Mine only has 5 beeps
It may be a different model or issue. Is it the same model as I present Guardian 628?

HEY! Thank you for the compliment and subscribing. I checked out your channel and It gave me a few ideas. I will be releasing a few more videos about garage doors. It gets to be extremely hot here and I was looking at garage door insulation kits. Most give an R value of 4.8 to 6.2. The DOW is 8. something but it always falls out and it is ugly fiberglass with a white plastic backing. I am doing my own which has an R value of 9.2. The highest I found so far. It would be great to install prior to the door install when the door is in sections but it is taking me hours cutting it and putting it in while the door is assembled. I would never take the door apart because I know I would never align it properly so it is taking me hours to do. I will post the video when I am finished. Thanks again for subscribing. After u do that, u have to replaces the springs on the door. Otherwise you destroy the opener

HI< I just saw this Liftmaster. TY for the first tip. I have had it maybe since 2005 to 2008. I can't remember exactly. How much heavier do you think the extra foam makes the door? The other day it had another fault. It moved 2 inches down then started beeping and stopped. I pushed the button again and it went back 2 inches and did the same. I hit the rear of the opener 3x and it worked after that. No Idea what is was.
@@AZCAMERAREVIEWS sounds like the logic board is going bad again. Also adding insulation can add 50-75lbs to the door

Hi Nomr, TY for reaching out. Sorry for the oversight and not mentioning the price but that was for a good reason. This video will continue to run was past it becomes obsolete. Mentioning price in a review is sort of a double edged sword. You get comments like yours or someone complains that I gave the wrong price. That being said, when I purchased my board it cost me $55 plus shipping. Now it is $45! Price drop.

Will this same operation work for the 600SL?
Hi James, I am sorry but I am not a garage door lift specialist. I just researched the problems that were expressly tied to this lift. Look at your 6000SL and see if it is the same construction as mine. Then call the supplier I listed below and see what board is needed for your particular lift. That is the best I can do for you as like I said, this is not what I do for a living. I am just a little bit handier than most, I like to save $$ where I can doing stuff on my own. What a terrible opener. Go with liftmaster instead. The company that sells these is a scam.
Thank you for taking the time to respond. Liftmaster is a very good brand, unfortunately when you move into a previous owned home you do not have a choice as to what was installed previously. I have had Liftmasters in my other homes. I have one that is over 35 years old and it is a chain drive. No arguments! They make a great operator.
