    I loved the video. Very informative. But a simple fix for the Stealth stock GLR-16-S cheek rest to stay in position would be to simply add a star lock washer in between the adjusting nut and guide. The washer will bite into the plastic on both the nut and guide and make it nearly impossible for it to move without breakage. I hope this helps.

    One correction: both rifles use the AICS short action magazines, which magpul makes a variant of. The magazines used in an AR10 are vastly different as the magazine release catches on the side like a standard AR15 PMAG, while the AICS magazines have a rear catch, hence the placement of the large mag release on both of these rifles

    I did change the stock on my stealth and put it on my Adams arms 308 and if you tighten aggressively with plyers the bolts on the cheek riser it will stay up if hand tightened will not stay risen

    the stealth cheek rest will deform with pressure. I corrected this by cutting up neoprene and two sided tape between rest and stock.

    It's so cheap that Savage throws a CTR on to that Ashbury. You'd think that at this price point they could manage to include an actual precision rifle buttstock in the box!

    • @Randomgdude

      sgav8r I'm wondering if they just assumed people would upgrade the stock anyway so they put the cheapest thing they could on it

      I agree. That stock is simply useless. I want looking at it in the store. And because of the flat top I will need high scope rings. And so that puts that stock way too low without a higher comb.
      Did they think anyone is going to shoot this with low iron sights?

    The important thing here is, which one is more accurate?
    How does the Model 10 FCP-SR compare to these as far as accuracy? I'm getting about 0.7MOA out of mine without any modifications.
    Is it worthwhile spending 2x the $ for a Stealth or Ashbury?

    Basics: what purpose does a Buffer Tube serve on a bolt-action rifle? Do people think Is it just cool to have a captive spring inside your gun?

    • @hughjorgan1071
      @hughjorgan1071 7 років тому

      Wait...thats an actual buffer tube? No wonder the rifle looks so fucking odd.

    • @noahholden7030
      @noahholden7030 7 років тому +4

      There’s no spring inside the buffer tube, but by using a standard tube for mounting the stock it allows users to choose from the already vast amount of stocks for the AR platform if they choose to upgrade.

    Does the 10BA stealth and the Ashbury Precision 6.5 creedmoor use the same action (receiver and bolt) as the Savage 10 FCP 6.5 creedmoor?

  • @singularityhunter
    @singularityhunter 6 років тому +3

    Interesting Video, good info, except, the 6.5 Creedmoor is NOT high velocity, with a 140 grain bullet, it struggles to make 2,700 ft/sec. Which is only about 100 ft sec faster than a 308 with a 180 grain Bullet. Hardly high Velocity. Other than that BIG error, the info was spot on..

    • @singularityhunter
      @singularityhunter 6 років тому

      Actually, I stated the fact the 6.5 Creedmoor is simple not high velocity by today's standards, and never addressed the twist which has nothing to do with it's velocity.
      Today's standard of high velocity is in excess of 3,000 f/s, some even consider it at 3,400 f/s or faster. Especially with cartridges such as the old 22-250 and 220 swift and the .204 Ruger and the new ling of Nosler cartridges such as the Nosler 26 and others.
      Back to your reply directly, in just one sentence you managed to say several incorrect things which would mislead many about your comment....
      "the 6.5 has a stupid twist of 1 in 10, instead of standard 1 in 8 twist"
      Where to start:
      1. I know of no manufactures offering any twist less than 1 in 8 twist in the last few years. Some even at 1 in 7. The 150gr Match King Bullet from Sierra, requires at least 1 in 7.5 minimum.
      Recap: The Standard twist of the rifling in 6.5 Creedmoor rifle barrels is 1 in 8, the Bullets have no twist, the bullets are smooth.
      2. Twist does not establish velocity. Stabilization requirements of a given bullet, does establish twist in the rifle barrel.
      3. Velocity has nothing to do with twist, twist of the rifle barrel does effect the stabilizing of the bullet, but it does not control the velocity.
      4. The 6.5 Creedmoor is limited to the velocity it has, simply due to the lack of volume of powder that the case can hold. Not twist.
      5. The 140 grain 6.5 bullet will be unstable at any velocity with just a 1 in 10 twist, thus no current manufacture makes a 6.5 Creedmoor with less than a 1 in 8 twist.
      Foot Notes:
      1. The 6.5 Creedmoor is not from the .308 case. The .260 Remington is from the .308 case.
      2. The Origins of the .260 goes back to P.O. Ackley, many decades ago, it is not a new cartridge at all. It was known decades ago as the 6.5/.308.
      The 6.5/.308 and the 260 Remington are a little more than 100 f/s faster than the 6.5 Creedmoor, with the 140-143 grain bullets, both requiring 1 in 8 twist.
      3. The parent case for the 6.5 Creedmoor, is the T/C 30 caliber cartridge, not the .308.
      Rifle twist is defined as:
      Example using the 1 in 8, Or 1:8
      The number 1, means one full turn of the bullet.
      The number 8 means the distance in the barrel in inches, that the bullet will travel to complete one full turn
      So a 1:8 or 1 in 8, either way you write it, means in 8 inches the bullet will complete one full rotation.
      1:10 means it takes 10 inches of travel down the barrel, for the bullet to make one full rotation. Thus the rate of twist is slower in a 1:10 vs a 1:8 twist rate.

      @@singularityhunter couldn't agree with you more. I started to respond to the "high velocity" comment also. 6.5 Creedmoor is way over hyped. There's a lot of cartridges around the same caliber that will out perform it all day long. But anything to sell a "new" old cartridge I guess.

    Better stick with .308, 6.5cm is so small you can't kill game with it, sure it may go fast and have the penetrating power but it lacks the mass and muzzle velocity. The equation FORCE = MASS x ACCELERATION explains it all. If you were shooting through brush it would easily deflect in another direction and wind will blow it all over the place. Finally not every place sells 6.5 cm but on their other hand you can walk into any gun or hardware store and they will have .308

    • @davejan744
      @davejan744 6 років тому +3

      Dreamcrusher - MKV , you need to watch some ACTUAL shooting vids. The 6.5 Creedmore outshoots the 308 many times over. LESS wind drift, longer flatter ranges & far better extream range accuracy. By your own formula, a superior round ALL around.

    • @dreamcrusher-mkv2346
      @dreamcrusher-mkv2346 6 років тому +1

      Dave Jan I've shot both and the 308 is a jack of all trades it has the range (when you need it), the knock down power and muzzle velocity. The only thing 6.5 Creedmore is good for is target practice. No one hunts with 6.5 Creedmore because it won't kill anything you hit with it will just cripple it. Like I said before the bullet is so small it has no energy to transfer AND if shooting through brush you can say goodbye to the target cause it will deflect off somewhere else. So the 6.5 Creedmore has no other application than target practice

    • @davejan744
      @davejan744 6 років тому +2

      Dreamcrusher - MKV , The 6.5s longer length bullett makes it just as effective as a 308. Also less drift & flatter. As for killing ability its as good if not better & WAY furthur out. Ive hunted/killed everything in lower 48 North america w a 22 long rifle. (Up close brain shots). So dont try to feed me your stuff about the 308. Its NOT that great. And in Alaska where I hunt, its considered a JOKE. Minimum up close/in your face is a 300 win mag. And THAT IS MINIMAL. Before the 6.5 the favorite was the 270 for long ranges. Ive pulled too many 308 FMJ slugs out of healthy bears. Not enough velocity to penetrate to the vitals. For the lower 48, 308 fine. But I'll take a small rocket that goes through than a fat slow bullet that dosent.(Except for the 45/70) An icepick in the heart kills, a body slam dosent. All a matter of penetration effectiveness on different targets/ hunting conditions. But, for what its worth, I know a father son team that regularly hunt black bears w a 223. 55 grain FMJs through the heart/head. I wouldnt, but they do. 100 yds or less. They wont use a 308 either. Too many run offs. Ive also had devastating performance w a 30:06 w 220 grain soft roundnose. (300 yds) Why 100 FPS makes such a difference is beyond me. Go figure....

    • @dreamcrusher-mkv2346
      @dreamcrusher-mkv2346 6 років тому +2

      Dave Jan like you said it all comes down to what your hunting and the conditions. I'm just so used to shooting my 308 that it is my go to round but I plan on getting the BA stealth in 300 win. mag. And I don't have an extensive gun collection like you. The only calibers that I personally own are 22 LR, 9mm, .30 cal(for my m1 carbine), 5.56/.223, 270, 308, 8mm Mauser and 45/70. I know that's not a lot of calibers but they do what they're supposed to do and before you bash how few calibers I own, I'm only 16 and have enough guns FOR NOW maybe in the future I will expand my horizons and try new calibers but right now they're working just fine BTW I hope that father and son team upgrades to a bigger round they might just encounter a bear that takes more than a headshot. Have a nice day :)

    • @davejan744
      @davejan744 6 років тому +1

      Dreamcrusher - MKV , you have more guns than I do! But Im pushing 70 & have run the course. (Rifle wise) My favorite is the 22 hornet & the 45/70. Plus the 44 mag pistol. As for my 223 friends they only hunt in Black bear country. Blackies are easy to kill. The Griz on the other hand, whole different ball game. I knew a bush lady who only had a 22 long rifle & she killed griz by shooting them in the eye up close!! Gutsy Lady!! Not me bud, give me my 45/70 w hot heavy Grizzly loads !! I might be Alaskan bush crazy, but Im not THAT crazy!! 😁
