He's 33 yrs old. Suffered from undiagnosed Lyme disease for many years, immense pain, etc. He writes, produces, makes his own beats and more. Also, a great human.

@@2EEsTunesRen used to live with psykoses but not anymore. He was mistreated with the wrong medicine for several years and the side affects more or less gave him more trouble than he already have. Many of his songs was created when he was broken and in a very dark place some years ago. When you look at him now, he seems to have a better, healthier and easier life. 👍
@@elisabethstermo9396I'm not sure if he doesn't have psychosis any more. He has talked about hearing a voice/seeing someone even as a small-ish child, so the psychosis may be a recurring thing. It was definitely made far worse by the misdiagnosis and bad treatment though.
@@Todesschleicher I think psykoses lives in totally normal people as well. It depends on what's been triggered in our brain. My biggest fear is snakes and big spiders.
I'm so so glad you checked out Ren my dude. The first time I ever saw this song, I legit sat in silence for minutes afterwards with tears streaming down my face. Never have I heard someone understand (in song) mental health and the process of trying to get better so damn well. Ren is a modern day BARD and as you check out more of his music, you'll see it too.

Ren is a whole different league. He raps, he sing, he plays many instruments. He makes his own beats and produces his own videos. (he has others that he works with (mostly friends) but he is the driving force). He's independent and he talks about things that society hushes up. Ren fans don't care if other's have done the reaction. We love watching people discover Ren and find his catalogue and realize just how special he is.
Only a few artist can make 9 minutes feel like 3. Ren is definitely one of those people.
I liked the comment as he set the guitar down, "I hope it isn't done" I've seen 1 reaction out of hundreds where a music producer was complaining about the length and that it could have been chopped down to five minutes. Similar complaints in the early days of Pink Floyd... cause you can't play 10+ minute songs on the radio. Unless it's Arlo Guthry "Alice's Restaurant" on Thanksgiving.

@@scottmcelhiney323 ironically if you've seen the movie Bohemian Rhapsody about queen and that song the producer comments that song will flop and will absolutely never get radio play and if you put this song out you guys music career will officially be over. All because of the length of the song. That song is like a 9 minute song as well. We all know how massively popular that song by queen is. It's nearly their most popular song. If you have a lot of good jam packed in the song like this one and Bohemian Rhapsody then it doesn't matter how long the song is. People will sit down and listen. They will be transfixed and craving more.

If you want to see his rapping skills, I suggest the following songs. "Illest of Our Time" "Animal Flow" (both versions video and acoustic) and "The Hunger"
For his guitar playing/telling a story side ; "The Tale of Jenny and Screech" (it's a 3 part video I suggest finding the video that has all 3 parts in one), "Suic*de' (yes this song is about what the title denotes but...trust me), and "Chalk Outlines ft Chinchilla".

Welcome to Ren theater. Enjoy the Rabbit Hole. His genre = Yes. He write his own songs, creates his own beats and music, directs his videos and also help edit them as well. He's genius that I've never seen in my 55years. I'm glad I discovered him almost a year ago now. He just recently got his Sick Boi album to #1 on the UK charts. He fan and reactor base is dedicated and unbelievable.
This was all done in one take from beginning to end with several cameras. That in and of itself is an amazing feat.
That is alas also incorrect. This is an amalgam of the four takes they filmed plus extra hand held pieces. It is however all done live.
The vocals were done in one take according to what Ren said in his interview. They had to leave the basement where they filmed because they didn't get permission from the landlord which is why they had to piece the video together. His timing on the vocals matched the 4 pieced together takes.

@@sigally there is at least one take done without mic. At least one take done for the stand up ‘hope’ segment and they get to use the distant camera shot to mask any imperfections in the lip sync as it is harder to match his mouth movement to the audio track from that far away.

It is one of the most beautiful and touching harmonic performances I've ever come across. Fuck yea! I'm so fuckin hyped you've found Ren. I happened upon the Hi Ren video around 6 months ago myself, and ever since then I've fallen so fuckin hard and so far down into the Ren rabbit hole. This dude right here is unlike anything and anyone, irrespective of genre, I've ever heard in my 42 years of living. Then learning about his backstory how he had misdiagnosed & mistreated Lyme disease for nearly a decade that almost drove him to killing himself, how Ren's best friend Joe called him 5 mins before he commit suicide by jumping off a bridge into a river and Ren just missed him on that bridge by mere minutes, to getting signed by Sony in his early 20's and losing the record deal because of his health issues, to now doing it all as a fully independent artist and hitting the UK #1 on the charts with his new album Sick Boi just a few weeks ago.
It is impossible to not hear his music and hear his backstory and not instantly root for this dude Ren with how he is able to pull you into his world with how he is able to encapsulate his emotions, his sorrow, his regret, his exhaustion through his words & lyrics. He is a phenomenally talented musician, singer, writer, rapper, performer, and artist. And I am so looking forward to watching you dive deeper into Ren's world.

That was an amazing reaction and i have watched many reactions to Ren the Welsh UK wonder. So funny when you said its 9 mins long and right at the end you said i hope thats not the end 😁 He has lyme disease and has been misdiagnosed for years and is stronger at the moment but is still undergoing treatment so is still not entirely without pain. He was in a band called The big Push who are amazing. If you want to see live street performance (busking) in Brighton UK they do i shot the sheriff/road to zion/hip hop (ren wearing red suspenders) sick boi is a great call out too. also the original songs live duets he does with Chinchilla & Eden Nash. Before that, the stand out for me is the Tale of Jenny and Screech. Watch the 13 minute full version with all 3 tales in order. Don't worry about whether he can hold your attention that long, you'll be captivated.
I can't find a song if his that's not top tier! Some are pure fun and kind of silly, but musically amazing, the flow is crazy! He takes the letters of the alphabet pulled apart and put together!

It is so phenomenal, watching people descover Ren! That first time hearing this son and then going down the rabbit hole is so wonderful. Wish i could experience it all over but im so happy more people are seeing Ren's art and the things he is capable. He is truly a freaking magician, this man brings it all!!!! Not to mention he's finally getting everything he deserves and he did it all without traditional advertising, what Ren has done is put in the actual hard work especially for someone with autoimmune health conditions and mental health. he's the reason alot of us feel so seen finally!! Hey, just wanted to chime in and say loved the review here. Just stumbled upon this artist and I mean that with all sense of the term "artist" I have been for the last 30 years stuck in a sigular mindset of music and this young man has definitely broken that barrier. Have been listening, repeatedly, to his stuff and have not been disappointed at all, not one bit. Slipknot used to be my favorite band until Ren, and now I can't get enough. His music has helped me get thru this very deep emotional time in my life ( been a very ruff year) his tunes are very connectable. Been watching review vids recently and absolutely love the fact that this dude is blowing minds.

My fiancée showed me hi Ren and I remember freaking out like 'why the fuck do I wanna watch 9 minutes of this?' And then watched it and instantly shut the fuck up. It spoke to me on a whole other level. I am not religious in any way and usually hate religious themes in songs but I purchased his album 3 times😂 he is one in a fucking million and wish him all the best. The video was done LIVE and in ONE take - though it took 4 attempts before he was happy with it. The song is also from his personal experience. He was mis-diagnosed with mental health issues and psychosis and treated for that . . . for 9 years. Until finally being correctly diagnosed with Lyme disease, by which time the damage had been done. He is currently in Canada receiving treatment to repair as much of the damage as they can.
I just subscribed because of this reaction. I saw you emotionally change during, your either an Oscar winning actor or that was genuine, I believe this was genuine.
