I jumped on the #Ren train through #HiRen, like 10 days ago, and I can't stop watching reactions. But I've watched Cartier reactions, for a looong time, already. So my boy in green on the left keeping his cool, for once, was hilarious to see. He's the cute showboat of the bunch, and he knows it, and seeing him doing the 🤯 gesture was a genuine reaction I appreciate. 10 points from Griffyndor for your man on the right putting on shades when he got hit in his feels. That kind of depletes the purpose of the video, because you want to see the reactor's eyes, most. It was a telling moment and he revealed some vulnerability and self-consciousness by doing that.
Ren prior to releasing this song. " Up until I was 9 years old, I would intermittently hear a voice in my head that was not my own. The voice was distinctly different to mine, and always negative. It would self criticise or urge me to do things I knew to be morally wrong. The most peculiar thing about the voice was that it took no effort on my behalf to produce. My own thoughts always felt like there was a process that required effort to bring them to the forefront of my mind, this voice appeared as though it was spoken by another. The sentences felt predetermined like they had already been constructed. I remember very vividly at 9 years old, becoming very frustrated with the voice. I stood in my back yard, internally screaming at the voice to be silent again and again, and it did. In a flash there was silence, to the point where my head felt like an empty room. I wasn't used to the quiet and that voice never returned. It almost felt lonely in my head. When I got older I had intermittent bouts with auditory hallucinations where I would hear perfect symphonies, usually at night when drifting off to sleep. They were so clear that they sounded like they were emanating from a radio in the corner of my room. I knew they weren't there, but for some reason they never came with the feeling of fear. I also recall sitting on a bus at the age of 15, and hearing the sound of a crowded room, with about 100 voices chattering away, I was the only person apart from the driver on the bus. These experiences were always very brief, and few and far between. My last hallucination was during an intense bout of psychosis in 2015, and was my first visual hallucination. I was walking down a pavement after jumping out my mums car in a crossroads in a moment of frustration and distress with my condition. I was trying to run from myself. What appeared to be a homeless man with a dark complexion approached me, and asked me what was wrong. I explained that I had been sick most my life, and I wasn't sure I had the strength to continue. He looked at me, and smiled and told me 'everything is going to be okay in the end Ren.' I had not told him my name. There was something so overpoweringly sincere about this very simple message, which brought with it an overwhelming feeling of inner peace, and in a flash, he vanished. My rational brain always linked these experiences to what the doctors have told me, that there are parts of my brain compromised by the autoimmunity in my body. That the myelin sheaths surrounding the complex electrical system that conduct my thoughts were damaged and compromised, causing these lucid experiences that I knew did not exist inside the physical world. The part of me that edges away from logical and rational thought always attributed these thoughts to some kind of otherworldly intervention, that made my thoughts the battleground of some spiritual tug of war. For a long time I never really acknowledged this part of myself, for with it brought the danger and stigma of sounding like a crazy person. I decided with my latest release, to the best of my ability, to capture and express this chess match of thought. Hi Ren comes out in just over 24 hours. I can't wait for you all to hear it."

This song is absolutely incredible, this man is a lyrical genius. This song is a back and forth battle with his subconscious, he mentioned suffering from psychosis so maybe this is a character he’s playing. He also plays temptation and hope and the structure to this song is just beautiful. It’s so interesting and different and melodically perfect I can tell this man is going places!
I actually read it as the internal struggles we face ARE the evil in the world. It's not an externality. We're all capable of good and evil. That is the dance.
I see it as battling with his inner demons, as he does mention issues with psychosis. The conversation between the two sides can be applied to a number of things. The struggle between light and dark is eternal and internal. As someone with anxiety I can relate to the conflicting argument within. He’s portrayed this struggle masterfully because he’s walked it. Yet he carries compassion and is also providing a light of Hope for others
Not only is Ren a blosoming genius, he is an excellent guitar player and vocalist. His minstral triology is a must: Jenny, Screech and Violet in that order or you mess up the reveal. If you want to hear him rapping then check out Genesis - both versions! He covers similar areas that X covered but his songs are longer. Can't believe he has not had a hit yet - but maybe because he was messed up with lymes disease for several years. I think Power was an easy radio hit but not noticed by the mainstream. All of his material is excellent!

Please pay attention to the thoughts going on in your mind. Anything harmful that comes up is not you. The thoughts are floating around and we attract them according to what attitude we are engaging in. The ego is self protection but it is also a parasite. Thank it and tell it see ya down the road. Any helpful or good thoughts are what you want to pay attention to. Save them up like you have a wallet where you can bring them back when you remember they are there. Breathe life into them like they are a flower opening…. Like he did when he stood up. Notice your breath deepening when you have these thoughts…. Feel you are one with them through the breath. I first heard this song two days ago watching a reaction video of someone else.. and maaann I was blown away to read and learn about the backstory regarding this song in particular. Mental illness and emotional disorders are real and legit. We need to open our hearts and minds up to this community and remember to be kind and help when and if we can. I can relate to Ren in so many ways. A total stranger. I have never related to a human or song more than this.
Don't ever apologize for feeling and having emotions! Art is supposed to bring out emotions like sadness, anger, hope, happiness, etc and it makes your reaction that much better and more real because Ren's art touched you as it has all of the people that have been sharing his music and asking reactors to react to it. We know that Ren is someone special and his ability to create art that we can connect to and feel because of is not something that every artist can do, especially to the extent that Ren seems to be able to. ❤❤❤Much love and I am now a subscriber because of your realness and rawness!
Perhaps this song means different things to different people. But to me, it illustrates the eternal battle between good and evil that mankind has endured since the dawn of time. All human beings must fight this battle in our subconscious. Ren’s song allows us to see what we can't see and feel what we can't feel.

It was so good to see their reactions. So many people don't realize that shadow Ren speaks of is in ALL OF US. We think we are going to be able to "get rid" of it, but that only makes it worse. This song hit me so deep! Similar to Ren, many years of my life were disrupted by Lyme disease (which caused many symptoms of mental illness as the disease inflamed my brain). I have been seeing a lot of reaction videos in the past two days, and this one was great. What I saw from you, is that music doesn't even need to fit in to a category in order to move and effect us. My dad had Lyme that destroyed his short term memory. They thought it was Alzheimer’s disease, disabled him for almost 10 years, and cost him his marriage. Bad stuff.

My sister sent me this video because she knew I would love it, since then I've checked out a lot of his music...like Violets tale, Jenny, Screeches Tales...so moved....he plays several instruments, life stories, poetry, put to music, music put to poetry, his own genre, he raps...I call him Young Bard, a 21st century bard..more rap, than folk music, just my opinion..this 64 year old woman from NC, via CA, USA loves his music, whatever genre it is, it touched my heart, blew me away....
I've never had an urge before to watch every single reaction video, and share a performance with everyone I know and meet. I didn't discover Ren until 3/26/2023 when you tube inexplicably recommended "Ren - Hi Ren" to me. I'm a 52 year old man, and I am forever changed by this.

I’ve watched dozens of not dozens upon dozens of reactions to this song. I honestly watched this to see your facial and bodily reactions. I’ve loved watching y’all react to Rage and other artists from the 90’s& have loved it. In your bodily and facial expressions I saw cynicism, doubt, rejection and excitement. I love how you can be dubious but are also able to accept a different paradigm so readily. I think that the challenges in society are dismissed so easily by older folks who are so cemented in their thinking. Y’all give me so much hope for future generations. I’m an Xer who has seen younger generations vilified or scapegoated by elders who did little or nothing to better society & then blame their negligence on their own children. I wanted to comment on Ren by saying that I got a better understanding of this young man and what this song means after I researched him and the things he's been through. His busking history is surely worth checking into. There are so many facets to this multitalented person and I feel as if his many trials and tribulations are what gave life to his many talents. If the interviews and videos I've seen are true to the man, then he's someone I would be priveledged to know, to even hang out with and talk to for an hour. Ren is a bloody genius, a musician, a writer, an actor. For years he suffered from Lyme Disease, but at first they treated him for mental illness. Eventually they found out what was wrong and his treatment is ongoing. He comes from Dwyran on the Isle of Anglesey in North Wales. And that was not folk music.

His work is powerful and profound. He uses his pain and suffering to relate to all of us. We aren’t angels or demons, and we certainly aren’t God. We are humans. Whether Ren is Christian, or not, he’s doing God’s work. Historically, he may have been called a prophet. At least appreciate the power of his message.
Need to check out his songs "Sick Boi", "Hunger", "The Tale of Jenny and Screech" & "Money Game" just for some variation. The guy is stunning in his art and is hard to place in a genre. I feel he is first and foremost a storyteller and the style and genre he uses shifts to best tell the story. Regardless, whatever he does, he is off the charts talented.

Yall were all right. The devil and the dark side of our subconscious are the same figure in this. The idea is that we always fight with the darker parts of our subconscious, but as ge said at the end, you have to approach it as a dance, because you cannot win it as a battle. You have to relax and accept the darker thoughts but keep moving through it. It's the human condition.

It's always been a battle of good vs evil... We know how the story ends. It's living in this broken world that breaks the mind and crushes the soul. You almost lost faith in my boy! I admit I was shook when I first saw it and he started speaking in that demonic voice but then he stands. He knows who created him and that's why he won't give up! I won't either. It’s not a Christian song. He’s battling with the darkness inside himself. That line about the devil is about the struggle of darkness that has always been inside all men, and the light that we use to defeat those dark thoughts. It’s not literal.
It is a christian song though maybe not be intention. The christian belief is that all humans are corrupt and evil as the default (which is 100% true). Why have an internal battle if there is no actual internal battle? That would be just delusion. If there was no Satan, there would be no internal struggle. Gotta have evil to show the good in comparison.

Ren also is a busker on the streets who also plays with a band playing every style of music imagineable. He can sing like James Brown Bob Marley and everyone in between while doing beat box. Ren is the most talented musical poet that currently exists.

This song is a back and forth battle with his subconscious, he mentioned suffering from psychosis so maybe this is a character he’s playing. He also plays temptation and hope and the structure to this song is just beautiful. It’s so interesting and different and melodically perfect I can tell this man is going places!

As someone with anxiety I can relate to the conflicting argument within.

Not only is Ren a blosoming genius, he is an excellent guitar player and vocalist. His minstral triology is a must: Jenny, Screech and Violet in that order or you mess up the reveal. If you want to hear him rapping then check out Genesis - both versions! He covers similar areas that X covered but his songs are longer. Can't believe he has not had a hit yet - but maybe because he was messed up with lymes disease for several years. I think Power was an easy radio hit but not noticed by the mainstream. All of his material is excellent!

The thoughts are floating around and we attract them according to what attitude we are engaging in. The ego is self protection but it is also a parasite. Thank it and tell it see ya down the road. Any helpful or good thoughts are what you want to pay attention to. Save them up like you have a wallet where you can bring them back when you remember they are there. Breathe life into them like they are a flower opening…. Like he did when he stood up. Notice your breath deepening when you have these thoughts…. Feel you are one with them through the breath. Breathe into the thought. Allow yourself to relax with the breath. Allow yourself to be the breath itself. This will also keep you alive. Breathe the thoughts you are letting go out. Breathe in and keep the ones you want
If you need to, say silently “I am the breath …. Just breathe”. In doing this, you are affirming life

This is genius. That was like poetry. His guitar skills are on another level. That was incredible. Never seen or heard anything like it!
I first heard this song two days ago watching a reaction video of someone else.. and maaann I was blown away to read and learn about the backstory regarding this song in particular. Mental illness and emotional disorders are real and legit. We need to open our hearts and minds up to this community and remember to be kind and help when and if we can. I can relate to Ren in so many ways. A total stranger. I have never related to a human or song more than this.
Don't ever apologize for feeling and having emotions! Art is supposed to bring out emotions like sadness, anger, hope, happiness, etc and it makes your reaction that much better and more real because Ren's art touched you as it has all of the people that have been sharing his music and asking reactors to react to it. We know that Ren is someone special and his ability to create art that we can connect to and feel because of is not something that every artist can do, especially to the extent that Ren seems to be able to.

This song hit me so deep! Similar to Ren, many years of my life were disrupted by Lyme disease (which caused many symptoms of mental illness as the disease inflamed my brain). My dad had Lyme that destroyed his short term memory. They thought it was Alzheimer’s disease, disabled him for almost 10 years, and cost him his marriage. Bad stuff.

I’ve watched dozens of not dozens upon dozens of reactions to this song. I honestly watched this to see your facial and bodily reactions. I’ve loved watching y’all react to Rage and other artists from the 90’s& have loved it. In your bodily and facial expressions I saw cynicism, doubt, rejection and excitement. I love how you can be dubious but are also able to accept a different paradigm so readily. I think that the challenges in society are dismissed so easily by older folks who are so cemented in their thinking. Y’all give me so much hope for future generations. I’m an Xer who has seen younger generations vilified or scapegoated by elders who did little or nothing to better society & then blame their negligence on their own children. I wanted to comment on Ren by saying that I got a better understanding of this young man and what this song means after I researched him and the things he's been through. His busking history is surely worth checking into. There are so many facets to this multitalented person and I feel as if his many trials and tribulations are what gave life to his many talents. If the interviews and videos I've seen are true to the man, then he's someone I would be priveledged to know, to even hang out with and talk to for an hour. Ren is a bloody genius, a musician, a writer, an actor. For years he suffered from Lyme Disease, but at first they treated him for mental illness. Eventually they found out what was wrong and his treatment is ongoing. He comes from Dwyran on the Isle of Anglesey in North Wales. And that was not folk music.
Wild Ass Song!! It’s everyone’s subconscious in a song.. it’s art.. wild! Before every bad decision, before every Fight with a spouse, abuse, rape, beatings, before any trigger ever pulled on any person be it military or civilian.. there’s a voice inside us all.. do it.. don’t do it.. it’s the devil inside that drives the hate, the fear, jealousy, the grief, the pain..to go through with any bad decision.. there’s also the good inside what says “don’t.. you will get through this.. no one else needs to hurt like you do.. no one is worth the mental nightmares or self made subconscious prison the bad decision will cost you.. love all, make good choices.. because one day we will all be tested.. it’s a deep song.. it’s like folk, rap, rock, metal.. all combined. Yall were all right. The devil and the dark side of our subconscious are the same figure in this. The idea is that we always fight with the darker parts of our subconscious, but as ge said at the end, you have to approach it as a dance, because you cannot win it as a battle. You have to relax and accept the darker thoughts but keep moving through it. It's the human condition.

I just found your channel and I absolutely love you all. Thanks to Ren, I've subscribed to another amazing channel to help me cope. Ren is bringing people together... With truth. It's always been a battle of good vs evil... We know how the story ends. It's living in this broken world that breaks the mind and crushes the soul. You almost lost faith in my boy! I admit I was shook when I first saw it and he started speaking in that demonic voice but then he stands. He knows who created him and that's why he won't give up! I won't either. It’s not a Christian song. He’s battling with the darkness inside himself. That line about the devil is about the struggle of darkness that has always been inside all men, and the light that we use to defeat those dark thoughts. It’s not literal.
It is a christian song though maybe not be intention. The christian belief is that all humans are corrupt and evil as the default (which is 100% true). Why have an internal battle if there is no actual internal battle? That would be just delusion. If there was no Satan, there would be no internal struggle. Gotta have evil to show the good in comparison.
