Nailed it bro, no BS UA-cam personality crap, just meat and potatoes, nice work.
I appreciate that, thank you!
Finally a video with someone doing this with out a conventional lift. Thank you.
Brother, this looks like a whoopin! Well done. Major major props.
I appreciate it, thank you! With the heat it was a proper workout lol
Thanks for the video Mitch. I've never seen your channel before. I'm also from washington. I need to change the clutch in my C5 soon and am also going with the monster twin disc. I'm impressed you did that by yourself on the floor regardless of quickjacks. Unless I win the lottery I don't hardly ever play I will be doing it on the floor as well with quickjacks.
Excellent video, just received my monster dual clutch with the lightened flywheel and am excited to tackle the job. I thought the head cam install was difficult, this will be a little more engaging, but it all comes down to taking your time and following instructions. Thanks again for your video, definitely a huge help !
I'm glad I could help! And exactly, just take your time and you will be good to go!
"where do I go from here".... We've all been there. Great work man
Thank you man. Best install video yet!!!!
Glad I could help! And thank you for that.
Nicely done dude!! Manhandling that unit like a boss lol
Thanks brother! It was a bit heavier than anticipated lol
Wow this thing doesn’t look too bad to work on. I’ve been wanting one for awhile and I’ve always done my own work. Definitely picking one up lol
This looks like such a PITA. When time comes I’m going to end up doing myself because I’ll compare the labor cost vs mods I can get
Definitely an endeavor, once you get going it’s really not that bad though. That’s how I look at things as well, more money for mods is always a win.
Great video. Does the flywheel need to be balanced. Thought the LS1 is balanced on the flywheel, not internally on the crank.
Can you send the link on the parts you got including clutch and also the place you ordered???
Fuck man, those rites look sweet!
Getting ready to jump into this process soon on mine. I was pumped to find your video so timely. Did you put any grease on the billet bearing support? The stock one had some white grease on it when I swapped them on my new unit so I was curious if it needed to be replaced.
Thats awesome, I hope the video helps! I did grease the bearing support, It's definitely a good idea to do so.
@@MitchCarveth Right on. Thanks man!
You are welcome brother! Any other questions just let me know.
Great video bro. Do happen to have the part number for clutch kit ? Aluminum flywheel? Are you happy with how it feels ?
Thank you, Sorry for the late response! I thought it was aluminum but it's actually billet steel. Unfortunately I haven't had a chance to drive it yet due to the widebody install but I should be able to answer that soon. Here's a link to the one I went with.

Doing mine right now lol, I heard what you were saying about leaving the rear cradle bolts threaded a little to prevent the engine from cracking the firewall while dropping the tube, anything else I need to worry about to prevent the firewall cracking? THANKS!!!
Lol nice! Just make sure you lower the cradle slow and just low enough to get your hands on the top torque tube bolts you will be good to go!
@@MitchCarveth ohhhhhh your right, I see it in my head now tilting the engine back with that tube. Thanks for replying back so quick, looking forward for more of your videos!
Great video Mitch. Quick question, are you getting a lot of chatter noise from the clutch when not in gear? I recently installed the same clutch on my 06 Z06 and I'm hearing quite a bit of noise when not in gear.
Thank you! And yes I get a good bit of chatter especially when it’s cold. I got a little stressed that I had messed the air gap up but after calling monster they confirmed that the chatter while in neutral is normal and it was installed properly.
@@MitchCarveth Thanks for the reply. That helps put my mind at ease.
So question. If the plastic release bearing brakes. Would that keep the clutch from engaging?
That would give you engagement issues for sure. I’ve heard of them failing even with stock clutch. If the pedal happens to be stuck on the floor I would look into your clutch master cylinder though.
@@MitchCarveth Awesome thank you. I got an issue where you release the clutch and the car don't move. Peddle returns.
Monster has three different twin disc kits one is organic one is Kevlar and one is ceramic. Which one did you choose What does it sound like?
Mine is the Carbon Organic “S series”. It has a bit of chatter when sitting in neutral but it drives just like stock and grips smoothly, until it gets a little too hot then she grips pretty hard.
Which set of quick jacks is that?
This is the BL-7000EXT. I went with the big one so I could lift my trucks as well.
Can you provide an update? How do you like it so far?
I honestly haven't had a chance to fully break it in yet. So far great engagement and no chatter.
How hard do you think it would be to just get the transmission out? Like how long you think
I would set 3 maybe 4 hours aside to get it out. Once mid pips and mufflers are out of the way everything on the transmission is pretty easy to get to.
@@MitchCarveth I really don’t want to have to send it to rpm just for synchros replaced lol
Nothing against rpm but I do not blame you lol
Never done this to mine. Looks very involved. Wouldn't it be easier to take the engine out.?
For me it was much easier to go this route. best way to remove the engine is out the bottom as well. I've pulled the engine out the top way on my buddies C5 and it was giant pain even after all accessories were removed.
Do you grease the pilot bearing?
I did not, its a sealed bearing. I also didn't want it to sling excess grease on the clutch once it's hot.
@@MitchCarveth thanks for the advice!
You're welcome!
I'm planning to buy that same clutch, I have a c6 z06 545rwhp , would you recommend? Thanks
100% recommend, it will easily hold that power and it drives just like the stock clutch.
@@MitchCarveth thank you sir, I'll use this video as a guidance
You are welcome, if you have any questions once you jump into it feel free to ask.
@Mitch Carveth Brother I have the transmission out, any of the bolts from fly wheel, clutch , transmission bolts are they reusable? Or which one can I use.. I'm ready to put it back together
Just another option when removing the cradle. I disconnected the brake line to the caliper and left the brake lines in the car when dropping the cradle.. Just another option.
Great tip, thank you
Is it an LS2 or LS3? and do you have Ig?
It's an LS3 and yessir @mitch_carv
How do you like it so far?
Haven't had the time to do a full break in yet but so far I've got great engagement and the pedal feels good. no chatter or chirping coming from the clutch either so thats a win as well. Once snow isn't an issue I'll be doing an update video on it with more info.
@@MitchCarveth I had mine installed a few weeks ago & immediately noticed vibration, especially when taking foot of accelerator or deceleration. It's subtle but it's there. Clutch seems to work fine besides that so I don't think it's an install issue. Company says it's due to harmonic distortion so I did some research & that might be it. Did you get a new harmonic balancer to help take care of that?
How many miles on the car ?
80k
Thanks for that quick response 👍
If I'm just swapping in a new stock clutch do I need to do all the measurements you showed at the end? I've done a few clutch jobs on other cars and never measured anything
Man what a mess 😳
