Oregon was most likely playing this because it's VERY ADDICTIVE. After hearing the Stanford Band play this at a game.....I can't get it out of my head.
Dilly, well, I guess if that is your metric for a "great' school. Henry, well have you been there? I knew folks that would pull all-nighters studying for the weekly quiz.
@@dillypump8826 I mean it’s they’ve won more national championships than any other college so I’d say it does. 123 national championships in 20 different sports.
I'm French and this music makes me think of the USA, has football games with cheerleaders and all that goes with it, it's really good music very cheerful and motivating
For the record, Stanford actually does have a fight song. Up at UW, we always play the opposing teams fight song in pregame, can't remember the name of Stanford's off the top of my head. A year or two ago, at the pac-10 tournament, the final four teams were playing their fight songs, and Stanford played this instead. So naturally we played their fight song for them. I think only a few of the older alumni had any idea what was going on.
Well, the joke is kind of on everyone else, who doesn't know that the REAL Stanford fight song, for all intents and purposes, is 'All Right Now." :D Always has been since 1970, and always will be.
as a HUGE ND fan, Stanford is my #2 team. you guys are similar to ND in the fact that you guys put academics first. hope you take the Pac-12 again next year, and, if things work out, the Notre Dame vs. Stanford game next year will be #1 vs #2! i wish you guys luck and want to see u put USC and Oregon back in their place next year!
way to go stanford! I LOVE that you guys beat USC. i am an ND fan, but i've always had a ton of respect for you. you are a great academic school and win without cheating. way to beat those bunch of filthy Trojans. good luck on the rest of your season I'm very impressed, Stanford really is more than Andrew Luck
@kv9109 Ha! I graduated high school in 2006. I'm a VT fan btw, too bad we lost. Majored in music ed in college, going to get my masters this fall. My high school marching band had 80 and ciould probably give these guys a hard time.
Believe me, I am not exaggerating when I say they smelled like weed and alcohol. At least you could tell what we were playing. The sounds coming from the Stanford band were about the same as listening to a CD that had just been through a garbage disposal.
Not to mention your rookie coach decided to play it safe by running the ball the last minute inside the Okie State 25 yard line and letting an inexperienced kicker try and win you the game instead of letting Luck throw the ball around and letting your himself, a Heisman-calibur QB, try and do it himself.
@piano75432 I appreciate your attitude! While I am not a member of the band myself, I see exactly the same thing in the group as you expressed. They really embody the "Work Hard, Play Hard" principle that we all have on The Farm...
I agree with you man. I'm in the Oklahoma band. We witnessed them first hand at the Sun Bowl this past December. They aren't "cool" or "funny." All they did was leave us with a "dude, wtf just happened??" feeling. Just for the record, when you smell like alcohol and weed, for the love of God, DO NOT TRY TO HUG US.
I was an undergraduate at Stanford when "All Right Now" was first played by the LSJUMB about 40 years ago. Why are they still playing a 40-year-old-chart? Is there anything more contemporary that appeals to them? In my day, they wouldn't have been caught dead playing any of the top hits of 1930!
I was never arguing that this song isn't significant to Stanford. I was arguing with Crass121 who said USC bit this song off Stanford, which is a pretty dumb statement... I actually really like this song and i think Stanford plays it way better then the Spirit of Troy... So before you get all defensive, understand what I was trying to say originally...
@kyledavid80 Actually...The UW HMB is one of very few bands that still play the opposing teams fight song, and I'm going to go ahead and bet my left kindney that USC was trying to do nothing of the sort, that was probably a slap in the face.
Ok well... 1. This song doesn't belong to Stanford. It was written by Free. I'm not gonna lie, this is a great and catchy song and I think it's great that Stanford kinda made their own version of it. But saying that USC "bit" off Stanford makes no sense... 2. This song is really catchy and really popular, therefore it's played by a lot of college bands. Just because the Stanford band plays it a lot doesn't make it exclusively theirs. 3. USC has their own Fight Song that they wrote themselves.
@Crass121 Funny- I'm applying to both, but I STRONGLY prefer Stanford! Stanford is AMAZING and like you said Cal is full of Stanford rejects. The only reason I'll even apply to Cal is because I want to go to college in the Bay Area... but Stanford is so much better!
@tennisxace is that the best you can do. great comparative analysis. i'm sure it was really data driven. revisionist history on the play was cool too. you keep your directors' cups, i'll take 7 of the last 9 big games and a picture with the Axe every year I was there. congratulations on the football program. too bad it only lasted a year. you can't sell out your miniature stadium or even a BCS game. suffice it to say stanford "fans" and their sudden love for stanford football are nauseating.
I don't think so... As for your assumption that they only let me in because I was in the military is wrong. I got in because I scored 1570 on my SAT (1600 was a perfect score when I took the test in 1987...), plus it didn't hurt that I was involved with software development in high school. It also doesn't hurt to have an fsiq over 180... If you're in the sciences, then yes, UC Berkeley is superior... but if you're in liberal arts, then no, we're the superior school!
This is the most bad ass conversion of a rock song into brass ever in the history of music.
It's a FUCKING California thing!!
FEAR THE TREE!!
gig em aggies
can't hear this song enough!!!!!
Oregon was most likely playing this because it's VERY ADDICTIVE. After hearing the Stanford Band play this at a game.....I can't get it out of my head.
this is the best fight song in all of college football !!!
Thanks for coming out!!!
The great thing about Stanford is that they have real academic standards.
Which doesn’t win championships so what are you on about
To get in. Then it's all A's.

"We bow to no man. We bow to no program here at Stanford University."
In my opinion this is the best fight song and I’m a Michigan fan
About an hour to go before we beat #4 Oregon in Auzten Stadium. Playing this on repeat to get PUMPED!
So the Stanford fight song is actually "Come Join the Band" which the band usually plays during pre-game. Hail Stanford Hail is the Alma Mater.
Muhammed Ali said it best... It ain't braggin if you can do it!!! And, we can and do it all the time!
favorite fight song
The one fight song that would fit in any movie

They should really have this in ncaa games when the cardinal scores, it's cool
Jade Nguyen didn’t age well
No it didn’t lol there’s no more NCAA games and Stanford is complete garbage
Sportz prod. Lies.
Yes. I will be there for the post game Commentary after the CARDINAL has dominated the TIDE in every facet of the game!
Stanford fight song sounds like a high school fight song
GOOOO STANFORD !
Baby, It's All Right Now.
This is really a great and catchy song... but I can't believe I'm saying this since my school (TCU) is playing Stanford in the Alamo Bowl.
So your a stanford fan.Me to! I get heat at school for that.
I think it’s the only fight song in FBS or Div 1A sports that you can actually dance to.
Is that "Ode to Joy" being played in the middle of the song?
I heard it too
YES! Couldn't agree more! ;D
I’m a USC fan and this song is kinda 50/50

What does Alright Now have to do with Stanford, other than they stole it?

Wait... but didn't Stanford bite this song off Free?
@saintxsimon Marching bands kick ass. Maybe not physically but the concept kicks the football players' asses.
@Jackieboyyy21 What instrument? Our band (Palo Alto High, which is right next to Stanford) plays this.
Go su go

Stanford's marching band is called The Leland Stanford Junior University Marching Band?
Leland Stanford Junior University is the official name of the school. It was named after the deceased son of railroad tycoon Leland Stanford.
@@IDF1987 So it's a junior college? Still, I sorta wish my son would consider playing for them next year.
