3 years ago I got up at 6AM to go black friday shopping. This year I watched the documentary The True Cost on Netflix and it absolutely changed how and what I buy. We are lucky enough that we have no idea what The True Cost of our clothing is- I absolutely cannot recommend it enough. If everyone that read this comment watched that documentary, we could make a difference!
Thank you so so much for this comment. I wonder how folks who consume this much and work in fashion are oblivious to the impact of their shopping habits.
@@traderjoe32 It's a hard thing! Ingrid Nilsen just posted a video called "Why I Stopped Shopping" and I was SO happy! Once you take the time to get educated on the fact that people are actually dying for your clothes, it changes the perspective. I hope that Fleur does look into it, but I know it's got to be hard for her because for us it's a habit change, for her it would put her job in danger.
Katie her hauls have the most views so it probably would be difficult but I hope she considers it :)
absolutely agree with you. but in one video she mentioned that she doesnt stop supporting these shops because at the end they give job for lot of people LOL... we can always find excuses i guess. i think its just completely careless and no education on things really.

I live in America and Im kind of anti black friday. Ive worked 4 black fridays in a department store and shoppers are just really disrespectful to retail workers and act like getting deals makes them go rabid. People just take it to a level that is really unnecessary so I try not to participate as much as possible.
I feel the sales are fake too. Do you agree?
Thanksgiving is a day to be with family not make them go to work until 3am that's so sad :(
& yes! The deals are mostly fake! They jack up the prices and set them to 50% off so you pay regular price. My mom went into Aeropostale (cheaply made tacky clothing imo) and the jackets had price tags of $100 but had 60% off.
I work in retail also and I agree that people act crazy at these sales and I agree they are fake.
@@LittleMakeupChannel I believe some of them specifically in department stores are misleading. I do not believe that every Black Friday sale is fake. I do believe there are some good deals that actually save you money but those are selectively chosen by companies. If you're expecting a lot of people to buy an item it can be advantageous for it to be on sale because it's going to increase the amount of people that are going to buy it. Also there such a thing as "doorbusters" which are sale items to get people in the door. That can be heavily discounting an item exclusively for that store to get people inside the building so that they will spend money on other things as well.
Some sales are real, it just depends... At Bath and Body Works everything is legit 50 % off regular prices. Including times which never go on sale otherwise. 💁
Anyone else find it hilarious that 99% of the items she bought were physically black? :D

I'm in Australia and the sales were ridiculous. I work near a shopping centre and the traffic on Friday was insane. Today is apparently Cyber Monday. Something about the whole thing really put me off shopping! And I love to shop. It was just too busy and not a pleasant experience.

I got a Charlotte Tilbury lip kit thing reduced for £135 to 65. It had 9 items in and I thought if u divide 65 by 9 it equals £7 ish each per item which is what I'd pay in boots for a lipstick x
Sophia x I really like her Black Friday sales. It’s the only place where I got anything this year, and last year as well. I love allsaints but they’re just so much more expensive in Germany than the UK, so it’s frankly cheaper for me to just buy them at full price when I’m in England.
I rarely or never go Black Friday shopping in stores or online. I just buy things throughout the year with coupons or sales. I love the black jumper. It's totally my style.
All of those items are so chic and timeless, especially that coat! You’ll wear it for ages!

I didn't buy anything on black Friday. I wanted to but then I thought about it and there was nothing I needed, and I felt I'd end up buying crap I don't need.

Black Friday is half the fun of Thanksgiving for me! I loved it as a kid shopping with my family, and now I enjoy taking my own children. Of course most of my haul is for them now. We don’t go crazy early and fight with people or anything, but do enjoy the hustle and bustle holiday spirit.
It was interesting to hear your take on Black Friday, because I wondered about other countries observing it. For us it is of course tied into a holiday. And a lot people have the Friday after Thanksgiving off from work , it traditionally kicked off the Christmas shopping season,but for other countries it’s just a random Friday in the middle of the month. Sounds like your not impressed, lol.
Stephanie Hubbard I live in Canada and when they started bringing Black Friday here, I found it a bit ridiculous since we don't celebrate Thanksgiving at the same time, but then I though doing Black Friday is much more interesting than Boxing Day since you can at least buy your gifts at a discount instead of paying sometimes full price only for it to be put on sale a month later!

Oh my gosh I totally do that too! I buy statement pieces when I should by staples! And then I don't have anything to wear with and help balance out my crazier pieces!

I agree, I wasn't feeling BF this year either, and I'm American! I really only shopped online at companies that never run promotions, such as Mejuri and Glossier.

I'm in Canada and we have Boxing Day on Dec 26, over the last few years Black Friday invaded with the US retailer stores. We now have both so I tend to be traditional and shop Dec 26.
I’m surprised that Mike didn’t like the coat. It looks very classic to me and is definitely warm enough to roam the country side for days. Cudos for buying it anyway.

I too am trying very much lately to buy more staple wardrobes pieces. Used to just buy lots of patterned things and didn't have a wardrobe that was cohesive. On another note, your hair looks lovely in this video. Very thick and healthy!

for the past 2-3 years black friday has become more popular in Austria and I do think it's a bit weird. it feels like we (and maybe the rest of the world) are stealing/borrowing another country's culture if that makes sense. cause we do not celebrate thanksgiving at all, we just know about it bc of all the movies. but then we get excited on black friday and it seems a bit fake idk. I admit that I purchased a few things online but it was only stuff that I meant to buy for the past few weeks anyway so I waited for the sale to come along. and idk about the sales in the US but here it was mainly -20/30% which is great but by far not as exciting as regular sale where everything's 50% so yeah. I'm happy that I got a few discounts here and there but it feels like it happened at another country's/culture's expense if that makes sense.
Yeah! I’ve been saying that to my husband, why do other countries have Black Friday now? And here in the US it was like the whole week and will just continue on through Christmas. Over it. I went weds and literally bought one hair bow.
Definitely! It's the same scenario in Norway as well. Retailers jumping on the band wagon, and now Black Friday is a "thing" here 🤷🏻♀️ without any context really. Every year it gets bigger and bigger and people go crazy. It's almost getting bigger than the regular after Christmas sales. Though I have noticed that some "ethical fashion/beauty brands" have boycotted the shopping day, by closing the store or donating proceeds.
Personally I checked off a few wishlist items and presents as well, but definitely see your point!
I love high neck tops, vests and t shirts to go under other clothes in winter but find them hard to get. However I recently found a long sleeved, high neck black top, black high neck sleeveless vest and two high neck red oversized T shirts, all at half price on a couple of sites. And truly at half price because I'd had my eye on them for a while. So I bought them last Friday. It's only the second year I've ever taken any notice of Black Friday. Lovely rugs I had in my basket but not purchased on Littlewoods last year suddenly became half price over the BF weekend and I snapped them up. I never paid attention before. I would only do BF shopping online though. It sounds like a rugby scrum in shops. Not pleasant for customers or staff.

I didn't end up buying anything for myself because I need to save at the moment but the only things that really tempted me were jewelry brands. Specifically Daisy with Estee Lalonde, Missoma and Astrid&Miyu.
I don't really shop on black friday - I always look but there is never anything I actually want other than Missoma which I wait for all year! xx

i have a favorite tea shop in berlin that had 25% off everything. as it’s the end of the month i didn’t have much to spend but i could order with an invoice & pay later so i took adavntage, makes sense to buy now than in december for christmas!

Love the black jumper, our Black Friday here in the states was crazy 😝 I haven’t went to one in years but I went Saturday the day after and the sales were amazing! 30% was nothing here LOL, our outlet mall had 50-80% off of the whole stores! To be fair though it has always been the biggest tradition here after Thanksgiving, it has slowed down a bit because of cyber Monday and all of the online shopping.

Looooove your style! I'm not a black clothes person but definitely would wear some of that ❤️ On a side note, the iPhone X is capable of recording in 4K, you just had to use the rear camera 😅 could've used a mirror so that you could see yourself and get better quality.

To be honest, I thought the Black Friday sales which started earlier wasn’t all that but on the actually day, I ended up doing some big orders from makeup brands like fenty beauty, Kylie cosmetics, Anastasia etc and I think I spent a hell of a lot more than I intended but I think I got some pretty good deals and for the three brands I mentioned, I’ve waited a long time to get some sort of discount on them! I’m so broke right now. Lol 😭
