- The unforgettable occasion when AP McCoy announced his decision to retire - live on air with Rishi Persad just moments after riding Mr Mole to win the Betfair Price Rush Chase (known as the Game Spirit) at Newbury in 2015.
McCoy has been champion jockey in Britain every season since 1996 - his first year as a professional. He said he had come to his decision after speaking to his agent, Dave Roberts, and owner JP McManus, for whom he had ridden for the last 10 years.
Since riding his first winner in England at Exeter in September 1994 he had set records unlikely to ever be surpassed, riding a total of over 4,300 winners.

Sir Tony , was not from racing background. The kind of lad that learned race riding and took competitiveness to another level.A total holic for horse racing.Punished beaten horses by race riding and won.Set standard for many in the game.Had intelligent and distinctive perception regarding what it was all about.Trainers dream.
The greatest.
Legend
Simply the best
My world ended this day
Grand National winner waiting to happen.
Legend Tony absolute legend, you ruby and Davy have just destroyed the racing game and totally annihilated our neighbours across the sea.
fada beo tony mc coy an jockey is mó a shiúil an talamh riamh agus go raibh maith agat as gach rás a thug tú dúinn. 🇮🇪🇮🇪🇮🇪🇮🇪🇮🇪🇮🇪
Davy is not in there leauge
Is he not? You clearly have no clue about racing because his runs on tiger are hands down the best two rides in a national you’ll ever see
First national he went too soon nearly got caught . Hes not as good as the other two fact
@@robertdelacy3434 nearly got caught 😂😂😂😂🔥🔥 he won lad Jesus Christ
@@troutriver8659 wat was the distance ?
Don't get why jockeys try and push so much to catch the winner when they know they won't all there doing is going to injure themselves and a perfectly good horse
Because people have each way bets obviously Jesus Christ man stop talking Shite
Also horses start pulling up in front and then the 2nd or 3rd come flying seen it many times
The greatest cheat.
What a muppet you are
The times he dropped his hands on horses on the smaller tracks like Hereford and Plumpton on odds on shots was in the end even expected.
Richard Johnson was the champion jockey more times than Mc coy if you did it on a wins to rides ratio.
And now he,s on tv giving out silly onfo and bad tips.
Now who's the muppet.
@@bobhadland2554 for one he never dropped hands once dont know where you're getting the facts from but your wrong you know nothing about racing
As much as you and all other punters like to think horse racing is squeaky clean i know its not.
There are gambles going on even now especially on the all weather racing.
In the mid 80,s i was asked confidentially by some people my friend met up with, to help them get some money on a horse called Tigerwood i was a bit unsure but they seemed very very confident.
So i went along with it i was putting money for them in bookmakers all over the place.
Lots of money in return they said they would give me £2000 when it won.
The race was the imperial cup at Sandown.
The day before the race it was 25 to 1.
These guys got quite a few thousands on it.
The deal was that i was not to tell anyone but on the morning of the race i did tell my uncle about it we both had £300 on it at 16,s.
It won the race at 13 to 2.
These guys were true to their word and gave me £2000.
The winnings helped to buy my first house.
I still have the occasional bet but never more than £10.
Because if Tigerwood had lost i would have been in big trouble £300 was a lot of money then.
Good luck with your bets my friend.
But you know as well as i do the racing game is open to skullduggery and it does go on even today.
@@bobhadland2554 that's true but McCoy was certainly not dodgy bit disrespectful to say that about the greatest jockey ever
A very sad 😔 day in my life 😫
