HE DID IT! The legendary AP McCoy finally wins the Grand National aboard DON'T PUSH IT in 2010

- The winningmost jockey in the history of jumps racing, Tony McCoy ended his long wait for a Grand National win as he claimed victory at the 15th attempt on board the 10-1 joint favourite Don't Push It.
Owner JP McManus and trainer Jonjo O'Neill also celebrated their first victories in the race as the winner finished ahead of Black Apalachi and State of Play.
Black Apalachi was prominent throughout but Don't Push It was always stalking him on the second circuit. As they jumped the last together, McCoy galvanised his mount to take up the running before the Elbow and the relief the record-breaking rider showed immediately - he tearfully told TV viewers: "I'm being a big wuss but it means everything to me to win the Grand National. I've won lots of big races and I'm supposed to be a good jockey, but to not win the Grand National would be a bit of a negative on the CV.
"My trainer put me on the right one if truth be known. I asked him to toss a coin and I think he tossed it a few times until he got Don't Push It!"

I love to revisit this... I got Don't Push It at 16/1 and had £25 E/W so needless to say a few beers got drunk that night... Was just delighted for McCoy to finally get that National win!
The greatest jockey ever. I never see a jockey today pull one of the fire to win on a regular basis like the champ did.
True man, with AP you always had a chance. So glad he finally got the national, would of been a travesty if he retired without winning it.
April 10th 2010 Was The BIGGEST Payday Of My Life. I Had 3 Gold Cups Wirh The Late Best Mate But THIS Was The Race I Wanted. Still Remains My ONLY Grand National Win!

I called every name under the sun this day, I had a load of bets running on to black Appalache who I also backed the year before when brought down when cruising he was a proper national horse shame he ran so badly the year after!!! I was counting my cash until the elbow!!!
i backed it at 100/1 in november only a tenner but was that grand sweet luv tony mc coy i knew he would do it one day thank you

He was indeed a very good jockey.. Many a race he won was only because of his talent. he pulled the victory out of a possible defeat. Many happy memories of backing his Mount's.. He truly tried his best.. Many times when collecting money from the bookies.. I had him to thank for the win.. What a jockey will we see his like again..????

Black Apalachi was some horse as well! Backed it the year before at 25/1 when it was cruising and Dennis O’Regan unseated. Crap jockey!
