Hey there, Keep an eye out here. I "THINK" I've come up with a way to shoehorn a small block Ford into a cart and still keep it 100% functional. I've got the cart and the engine. Working on rounding up the rear end then all that's left is to finalize my transmission set up. Gonna be a lot nicer build than this one. "I HOPE"!!
Very nice work , I especially like the airbox you built. Every time I work on the carbs on my old XS1100, I want to build an airbox that isn't such a pain to remove and install.
It's not that hard at all, especially if it's for carbs. I had to build new intake runners that angled backwards for the extra clearance I needed and then had to weld in intake bells and install the fuel injectors in this box. Made it a little tedious but not bad.
Kudo's , Man ,these conversion projects ,I am in that same don't know if it's gonna work ,doing a 14hp ex subaru engine with a gearbox & torque converter ,only mounting the clutch drive pulley onto the gearbox, still working out the bugs.
You mention something about a push button starter switch on the dash giving you a few extra horsepower, I have never heard of that before I have custom wired a ton of these sportbike ignition setups up for various builds. I would say whoever told you that its a horsepower gain has no idea what they were talking about. Also, did you build that intake manifold? seeing that gave me an idea to try that may help me solve some fitment issue with a new build I am working on however I'm not sure how you determined that size of opening diameter on the intake, is it reprogrammed to run that box or was the box built to copy a stock air box? I did this video at the request of a bunch of folks on a custom cart forum. I said that "extra horsepower" thing just to tease a few of those folks on there. You know the ones....they have 12,000 posts and all EXTREMELY critical of other peoples work. Well the "KING A$$HOLE" of that forum was just beating up on another builders use of a momentary toggle switch to start instead of his "A$$HOLE" approved push button version. And yes, I had build the intake set up. I had to build new intake runners that that would lay it back at about a 60 degree angle, then I built the intake box and installed the factory secondary injectors. I did loose some bottom end due to the changes, but can't find anyone here to reprogram for me.

Your jackshaft is scary similar to my own except I’m trying to retain a CVT in the driven end. So a CVT with 6 speeds. I’m afraid the sportbike motor will demolish the pillow block bearings in short order. I’ve got a 90 Kawi Mule 1000 with a 2011 YAMAHA FZ8 motor so very similar in theory. Well done. I love the motor mounts. Really have to be a creative person to figure this kinda thing out. I’ll be sharing this with those who know what I’m doing. Again any footage of this bad boy moving?
Is the frame longer than a normal golf cart? That looks like a good candidate to customize with the lower seat and extend the floorboard if so. Just Mount the engine further back.
It's a sock length Club Car, Carry All, Poineer 1200. I looked at lowering the front seat, but because of the engine and drive configuration, there simply wasn't enough room to move it back far enough to drop the seat. It's not bad as it is, doesn't feel top heavy at all.
It held up surprisingly well! I didn't do any hole shots or wheel stands. No hard launches but I'd bang the gears really hard once I was underway and no problems.
This is an awesome build and the best I've seen yet. ( although the blue wiring does no favors on the overall appearance as you pointed out. lol ) Where did you find the dash cowling assembly though? It's not stock Club Car for sure.
Hi there, Thanks for the kind words! I made the actual dash itself using smoked Lexan and cut it out to fit all the instruments. The dash cowling is a stock Club Car Carry All, Pioneer 1200. Ha! And as for the wiring.....I ended up fixing it and running it in black wire loom!!
Well your worst part of the project was WAY above and beyond any I've seen to date and that includes 2 of my own that I thought were pretty cool. Never even thought of filming or reviewing my builds. Did you find a buyer for this one yet? I couldn't imagine it would be very hard to. Thanks for taking the time to show us the new level the bar has been raised to.

I can only imagine how time consuming a video must be when building but I'm really hoping you'll film the build inception to epilog. I'm thinking for my next build to get rid if the drive chains and go with the deep toothed Harley type drive belts & Sprockets. They make a huge variety for machinery and I'm thinking they would be far more reliable than the commonly used drive chains as well as more versatile.
I looked at those cogged belts as well, but in my builds I require #1 a differential so it has a better turning radius, less tire wear and won't rut up yards and driveways when turning, #2 I have to have reverse. I couldn't come up with a suitable way to do this on this build other than what you see here. But I think I've overcome these issue's for the next one. I do plan on documenting this next build because without letting the cat out of the bag just yet I can assure you this one is going to truly be "one of a kind" ! Actually it works pretty well. I didn't want to just take the easy way out and use a straight axle because they rut up grass and gravel driveways when you turn and most important, NO REVERSE! Well that was the original plan. But in the mean time, I came up with an idea for another cart and I'm going to put this one up for sale in the spring. I didn't want to put any more time and cash into this one.
I built that too. I took a piece of 3/4” aluminum plate and cut out the mounting bracket and the two shift levers. I cut splits in the back side of the levers then drilled and tapped them so when you tighten the bolt it crimps onto the shift lever shafts.
I built it based on the old "three on the tree" concept. Outer and inner tubes with little paddle shifters on the column. Lower shifter is Forward, Neutral and Reverse. And the upper shifter is one down and five up for the Bike Gearbox. Works fantastic!

How exactly did you hook up the steering
Hey there, Steering was left pretty much stock. There's a little Rack and Pinion steering box that attaches directly to the spindles.

They have a frame stretch kit for that cart that gives you 38" you can add regular racing seats with all that space.

I feel like the rear seats need a holddown frame like they have on the rollercoasters.
Yeah, it's a bit spooky riding in the rear when there's not much to hang onto. I always take it easy when I have passengers on the back.

I'm not sure what you mean by the adapter, but I hand made all the items you see here.

tbirder1 sounds like a great setup. Like the concept a lot. I got a gsxr motor I put on a Dune buggy and trying to figure out how to do the gears
