Hey there, I don't have any "hands on" with jet ski motors, but the two things that come to mind would be creating a recirculating cooling system that will flow the same GPM that the factory system does. And creating a good, functional exhaust system.

Hey there, Keep an eye out here. I "THINK" I've come up with a way to shoehorn a small block Ford into a cart and still keep it 100% functional. I've got the cart and the engine. Working on rounding up the rear end then all that's left is to finalize my transmission set up. Gonna be a lot nicer build than this one. "I HOPE"!!

@tbirder1 would be nice to put the ford 300 in one but to large and heavy

@@Ruckusism That 300 inline six is quite a bit longer than my 302. Supe tough to devise a driveline system that would do what I'm wanting too.

@@tbirder1 I know this video is 10 years old. But I want to know how the trans axle held up. I’m doing a similar build now and still iffy on the trans axle

@@dougking8424 Hey there, The trans axle did great! Now I have to say that other than deep sand, I've never done any hard hole shots with this set up. When I did really bang the gears hard it was always from a roll.

It held up surprisingly well! I didn't do any hole shots or wheel stands. No hard launches but I'd bang the gears really hard once I was underway and no problems.

Keep at it! It's well worth the time to have a great custom cart like no one else!!

Well to be honest, you kinda have to fly by the seat of your pants. There were no kits or parts for this. I just had to start from scratch and build it a piece at a time. I got the inspiration for this set up from an old "3 on the tree" concept and just built from there.

@@fjs1111 Well I build em, play with em until the next idea comes along and then I sell em. Actually I just sold this one this week and my next project will be a small block V8 mid mounted. Like this one, it will have a diff in the rear end so we don't tear yards and driveways up as well as reverse cause I don't like to push! Stay tuned!!

I took a 460 and bored the block then had the crank offset ground. That’s how we got the cubic inches up to 500

That was a good ole cart. sold it a while back.

Hey there, I have a GPS speedometer with a "tattle tale" button. When you push the button, it shows your last top speed. You can see in the video at the 1:24 mark where I hit the button and you can see the needle sweep over to the last high speed. That little run was in the low 60's. I used to know the gearing back when I was setting it up, but I've long since forgotten.....sorry.

I'm not sure what you mean by the adapter, but I hand made all the items you see here.

tbirder1 how about the shifter where did you get the part by the steering wheel on the tree love that

I built that too. I took a piece of 3/4” aluminum plate and cut out the mounting bracket and the two shift levers. I cut splits in the back side of the levers then drilled and tapped them so when you tighten the bolt it crimps onto the shift lever shafts.

Yeah, it's a bit spooky riding in the rear when there's not much to hang onto. I always take it easy when I have passengers on the back.

I built it based on the old "three on the tree" concept. Outer and inner tubes with little paddle shifters on the column. Lower shifter is Forward, Neutral and Reverse. And the upper shifter is one down and five up for the Bike Gearbox. Works fantastic!

tbirder1 sounds like a great setup. Like the concept a lot. I got a gsxr motor I put on a Dune buggy and trying to figure out how to do the gears

Actually yes it is for sale. I just brought it home from the lake to give it a good detail job, take some more pictures and put it up for sale this spring.

It's a sock length Club Car, Carry All, Poineer 1200. I looked at lowering the front seat, but because of the engine and drive configuration, there simply wasn't enough room to move it back far enough to drop the seat. It's not bad as it is, doesn't feel top heavy at all.

They have a frame stretch kit for that cart that gives you 38" you can add regular racing seats with all that space.

Actually it works pretty well. I didn't want to just take the easy way out and use a straight axle because they rut up grass and gravel driveways when you turn and most important, NO REVERSE! I've played around with it a bit more and did a 67 mph pass down the road and realized that that's not for me! No belts, no roll cage, low speed off road tires!! I think 67 is going to my top speed. It has a TON more top end left in it but that's going to be for the next owner to find out. I'm going to sell this one now. I have another golf cart project I want to start, and I have to many setting around as it is.

Why wait! Come on by and buy this one.

Well that was the original plan. But in the mean time, I came up with an idea for another cart and I'm going to put this one up for sale in the spring. I didn't want to put any more time and cash into this one.

Hi there, Thanks for the kind words! I made the actual dash itself using smoked Lexan and cut it out to fit all the instruments. The dash cowling is a stock Club Car Carry All, Pioneer 1200. Ha! And as for the wiring.....I ended up fixing it and running it in black wire loom!!

Well your worst part of the project was WAY above and beyond any I've seen to date and that includes 2 of my own that I thought were pretty cool. Never even thought of filming or reviewing my builds. Did you find a buyer for this one yet? I couldn't imagine it would be very hard to. Thanks for taking the time to show us the new level the bar has been raised to.

Well again, I appreciate the kind words.I don't think this build was all that. It was my first golf cart build and basically my "learner". I'm going to try listing this one for sale very soon as I've just picked up another Carryall just like this one and I don't want to start on another creation until this one's gone. Without letting the cat out of the bag I will say this next build ought to be the "cool one"!

I can only imagine how time consuming a video must be when building but I'm really hoping you'll film the build inception to epilog. I'm thinking for my next build to get rid if the drive chains and go with the deep toothed Harley type drive belts & Sprockets. They make a huge variety for machinery and I'm thinking they would be far more reliable than the commonly used drive chains as well as more versatile.

I looked at those cogged belts as well, but in my builds I require #1 a differential so it has a better turning radius, less tire wear and won't rut up yards and driveways when turning, #2 I have to have reverse. I couldn't come up with a suitable way to do this on this build other than what you see here. But I think I've overcome these issue's for the next one. I do plan on documenting this next build because without letting the cat out of the bag just yet I can assure you this one is going to truly be "one of a kind" ! It's not that hard at all, especially if it's for carbs. I had to build new intake runners that angled backwards for the extra clearance I needed and then had to weld in intake bells and install the fuel injectors in this box. Made it a little tedious but not bad.

I did this video at the request of a bunch of folks on a custom cart forum. I said that "extra horsepower" thing just to tease a few of those folks on there. You know the ones....they have 12,000 posts and all EXTREMELY critical of other peoples work. Well the "KING A$$HOLE" of that forum was just beating up on another builders use of a momentary toggle switch to start instead of his "A$$HOLE" approved push button version. And yes, I had build the intake set up. I had to build new intake runners that that would lay it back at about a 60 degree angle, then I built the intake box and installed the factory secondary injectors. I did loose some bottom end due to the changes, but can't find anyone here to reprogram for me.

Hey there, Steering was left pretty much stock. There's a little Rack and Pinion steering box that attaches directly to the spindles.

Hey Shawn, this swap was a cake walk! I used Hooker headers on mine, and if I remember correctly, I used the same transmission, trans mount and motor mounts right off the Cleveland.

Okay and Thanks for the info Tbirder1! I figured that since the 429 was an option on the 71 that everything should fit and go together without alot of problems. I am also looking into the FPA mid length headers since my area is filled with crappy speedbump streets and dips for flooding. I am just planning on street cruising and car shows.

That's a good idea with the mid length headers. It sucks when you work on something so long just to find out it's no fun on the street. But to tell you the truth, I've not had any issues to date with ground clearance with my exhaust, even though I run 3" from the collectors, over the rear end and all the way out the back.

I was going to go with Hooker or some other full length headers until I joined a car club and unanimously, every Ford guy I asked who had done an engine swap from small block to big block instantly said...."if I had it to do over, I would definitely go with the FPA mid length headers"..... but they weren't around when most originally did their engine swaps.

+Sverri Thaysen I've not had any problems at all with the rear axle. I run a good synthetic oil in it and I don't do any hole shots. I didn't mount it directly to the axle because I wanted to reduce the unsprung weight. That let's the rear suspension work so much better.

+tbirder1 It makes perfect sense with the unsprung weight. The original engine mounts which are bolted on the rear axle has a rubber bushing which goes into the frame to prevent the rear axle from tilting. In this video it does not seem to be necessary? Have you changed the way you tighten the chain, and if, do you have made a video of it? Is it ok if I copy some of your ways of doing things?

+Sverri Thaysen When I accelerated, the spring wrap up was so severe that the chain would loosen up more than the tensioner could compensate for. So I did add a Track Bar to the front of the differential and that took care of the issue.
