I saw him in 2019 and he was still so great! His later albums are really good, but I really miss Dewar. Very special singer. It must've been cool to see him in 1975, probably peak popularity?
I remember when they first started playing Robin Trower on the radio, it was _so wonderful._ It was as if Jimi Hendrix had come back to life in the body of Robin Trower, so faithfully did he reproduce Jimi's "sound" in new and thoroughly enjoyable ways.
Best music reaction video I’ve seen…Trower Power! So appreciate how you guys listen and don’t make it about you…respect🙏. The few comments made were spot on. Thank you.
Another Excellent album today.. Though a few of his songs were played on FM Radio, he was never a huge sensation. Every song on this album is a great listen.
That Isaac Hayes sound from Trower's guitar reminds you of Charles "Skip" Pitts from "Shaft." The master of the scratchy "wah-wah" effect. Trower was the second guitarist in Procol Harum before going solo. Very under-rated in his time. At the time, he was mostly compared to his idol, Jimi Hendrix. Nice to hear this again, fellas. Thanks.
As a bass player myself, I’ve always said that you can say a lot with just one note. James Dewar shows us that here. Playing that pulsating and hypnotic “C” without any deviation, to me says a lot. Some might disagree, and that’s cool. And Robin is STILL rocking today. Well into his 70’s, but he can still bring it!

This was great. Monday morning and I feel like I just stepped out of the Time Machine with Michael J Fox! Day Of The Eagle (from same album) has the same structure. Last time I saw Robin, James’ son John was on bass and lead vocal. Bill Lordan’s cymbal work was always special. Or perhaps it was Reg Isadore, I forget the order. There weren’t as many toys for guitarists back in the day, but Robin made maximum use of the Wah and MXR Phase 90, then100. Phased cymbals on their recordings was a nice touch, as that became a thing. Anyway, the live album (the stadium concert cover) is a must. It’s a crime that Trower, Tull and Toto aren’t in the R&R Hall of Fame. And that’s just the “T’s.” This is must own vinyl guys! Thanks for another nice reaction, keep em’ coming. 🤘😎
Robin Trower did not get his just due. This is a fabulous album. As always fellas I am impressed with the music that you are reacting to. Great reaction fellas. Much appreciated 🙏
I remember when this record came out. It drew me in much the same as it did you. One of the great complete albums of that era. And its the bass player on vocals, a Scottish dude named James Dewar who was in line to inherit a Scotch fortune before he passed away. I like this lane of soulful blues rock that these three men occupied (Trower from Procol Harum, English guitarist) Aruban drummer Reggie Isadore (who also recorded with Rick Wright of Pink Floyd) and Dewar from Scotland.
Hey fellas. So glad you're reacting to Robin Trower! I still have this album on vinyl. Another great power trio that I always enjoyed listening to. That's Robin on Lead Guitar, James Dewar on Bass guitar and Vocals and Reg Isadore on drums. Also check out "Day OF The Eagle" from this release. Enjoying your reactions as always. Peace.
I saw him open for King Crimson in 1974, and all these years later it’s still one of the best shows that I ever went to. Trower is a great guitarist. But, Reg Isidore (drums) and James Dewar (bass & vocals) deserve some credit, too. RIP to them both.
Arguably, the MOST underrated and unappreciated guitarist in music. An OG Strat-God...dude is a real tasty guitar player. A large and excellent catalog of material.
This is becoming one of my favorite reaction channels. Love you knowledge and vibe, and it helps that we seem to have much of the same musical taste. Nice to see Robin Trower being appreciated by a younger generation. Keep up the great work guys.
Robin Trower is the guitarist. It is his band.. James Dewar (RIP) was the bassist and vocalist. and the drummer I believe was Bill Lordan.. 3 piece band that brings us the pure rock/blues.. much Hendrix influence in Trower playing.. Simply my favorite back in the 70's!!
Another great reaction guys. Robin Trower is a fantastic guitarist. He was heavily influenced by Jimi Hendrix. Nothing like the sound of a soaring, wailing cry of a Srat. Check out this and any other song on Robin Trower Love. Superb!
I used to cover this in a couple of my high school bands... I LOVE Robin Trower. Some stuff to check out are his albums with Bill Lordan on drums... Later on, after James Dewar left the band, Robin and Bill Lordan teamed up with Jack Bruce from Cream for two albums.
To me Robin had heavy Hendrix influence in his music from riffs to pedal usage. A killer guitar player who doesn’t get much conversation. Always enjoy some Robin Trower!
This whole album Bridge of Sighs is excellent. I forgot how much I love this song. In 2009 I took my son to see Robin live at The House of Blues in Los Angeles (gone now). The only problem I've had at shows like this is there always seems to be somebody from 1969 in the crowd always causing a disruption. This hippy who had been drinking started talking to my son like he was too young to know anything about this music and my son who was a 9th grader was about to go off so I stepped in and explained to this hippy that we were there to see Robin and have a good time, leave us the hell alone. He went on to bother some other people.
Saw him in a club in Atlanta in the early 90s with my hubby and his brother. The atmosphere interesting club was lackluster until Trower and the band took the stage. The crowd was electrified from 1st note until the last reverb faded and we continued to call for more. RIP to Trower and my brother-in-law.
Trower was and is an all time favorite for me. He plays guitar, Jimmy Dewar was his great vocalist back then in the 70's. Dewar has died since, RIP. His voice fit Trower's music perfectly. Trower was hugely popular for a few years, arena headliner. This album Bridge of Sighs won Guitar Player's album of the year back in the day I think. Day of the Eagle from it got some airplay, great song. Little Bit of Sympathy is a great song, one of my favs, Trower still closes shows with it to this day (still kicks out albums every year or 2). Trower is also famous for slow ethereal songs like Daydream and For Earth Below, check out those sometime. And Rock Me Baby from his first album is the best version of that old electric blues I've ever heard. Back in the day, my mom would sing around the house bits of Caledonia or Man of the World choruses from my albums just cause they were catchy and she thought Dewar was great singer.
I love Robin Trower. The two songs I can't do without on my playlist are, NO TIME and GONNA TEAR IT UP TONIGHT. The combination of rock and bles is simply too much to resist. Listen and enjoy.

He didn’t just do it in the 70s - I celebrate his entire collection with the exception of a couple albums in the mid/late 80s, the rest is good to great!!! Like you guys on your reactions! Fun, funny & insightful! Always enjoy it, don’t think I’ve seen another reactor(s) since you guys!
TROWER POWER!!!!!!!!! Let the man take you to the outer reaches with that guitar.!! We used to call this "Head Music". So underrated.
I love watching you guys your love for music is heartwarming. As 68 year old guy who loves all kinds of music I really appreciate younger people trying different music thank you both keep it up!!
Saw Robin in the "70"s , Another SICK ASS GUITARIST to SEE LIVE!! 😍😁🔥🎸
I got to see the Robin Trower power trio with bassist/vocalist James Dewar in 1977. I will never forget it, plus Sammy Hagar, recently departed from Montrose, was the opening act with his debut album, "Nine on a Ten Scale". My ears rang through the next day. Bliss! James Dewar, such a great blues voice!
This entire album is a masterpiece. Take a trip and never leave the house! Yeah I’m that old! Love to watch your reaction and growth!
Stoned is the key word
This whole album is a banger... especially "Day of the Eagle."
