This album is one of the best albums to come out of the 70's. It's the perfect winter album to put on and let it play through with your favorite drink by the fire:) Truly one for the collection that's almost impossible to burn out on. Brilliantly recorded, still sounds huge to this day! The combination of Robin and James Dewar( vocalist/bassist) was magical! What a vibe they could deliver! Every track on Bridge Of Sighs is reaction worthy.
I saw them open for Jethro Tull at Shea Stadium in July 1976. They played most of the album. Another guitar master, Rory Gallagher, opened the concert.
First three albums are corkers. His guitar playing is second to none. He was called the ''White Hendrix'' but hated it because despite acknowledging Jimi's influence there is only one Robin as there is only one Jimi. The add one the the greatest vocalists/singers in James Dewar and great drummers, you have a complete power trio. Just listen to the soulful ''For Earth Below'' and his guitar playing, then fire up ''Day Of The Eagle'' then swoon to ''In This Place and finish with atmospheric/moody ''Bridge Of Sighs''. Then you start to understand how grateful we are that he is still going and sharing with us.
Second to none? C'mon now. Can't he just be great without having to be the greatest? The guy who opened the show I talked about above was better than Trower. And that's just for starters. Fanboys ruin music discussion.@@letstalk3265
Very underappreciated. And he is still going. He is 78 and is releasing a new album this month. Some tracks are already online. He still has the chops.
I bought his CD called no more worlds to conquer and it was just as fire as anything he's ever put out. Looking forward to the new one too with that female singer. Peace!
@@AlexSosaBolivia Well I was one of the people in the stands at those stadiums, and then later in life in the little clubs he used to play in San Jose California. I've been with him every step of the way. But nowadays he is under appreciated, if you haven't noticed. Very few people know his name outside hard Rock circles around the comments like this. Just because you have a voice don't mean you have to use it every time.
@@jhamptonjr His fanbase is still intact after 50 years, and the fact that he doesn't draw Taylor Swift type crowds doesn't mean he's "underappreciated" - in fact I'd say due to his longevity he's more appreciated today than ever.
yeah, you don't hear them these days - even on classic rock stations. it's a shame, for sure. i used to hear them on my college radio station back in the 1970s though.
I’m in metro east St Louis area. Used to hear this song, and the others on Bridge of Sighs on K-She 95, Real Rock Radio. They still play it on their Sunday morning Classics show. I was 13 when I first heard my friend’s older brother playing the album. Ah, this music and the memories of it has kept me young.
@@AlexSosaBolivia i think you are talking about two different things. sure, robin filled stadiums back in the day. and yes, they garnered a good deal of radio play - back in the day. but today, to a new generation of rock listeners, you rarely hear about robin trower. and the classic rock station that i listen to all the time rarely (very rarely) ever plays any of his music. i believe this is what @randythomson7265 was talking about.
Toked many a joint with a power hitter to this tune back in the 70's with my buddies cranking the 8 track tape in my car! Never get those days of the 70's back, but the memories of fun times don't go away. 🎸🥁🎧☮☮
That album Bridge of Sighs is a masterpiece. It is just filthy and there is no let up! Every track is something you didn't think mortals could render. They rendered the "Bleep" out of it!
Saw Robin at a big concert back in 76'?, Strawbs, RT, King Crimson and Ten Years After. 18-20,000 or more. Hearing this through those huge speakers systems gave the sound such depth you just can't reproduce in your house. One of the best shows I ever saw, of maybe 150.
it is TROWER, not Tower, don't forget the "R". Mr. Robin Trower is an amazing, amazing "Master of the Stratocaster" Along with Stevie Ray Vaughn they are the closest to Jimi Hendrix in talent and style. Robin also makes the best "guitar face" out there. "Bridge Of Sighs" is one of Trower's best albums, IMO, and he is helped a lot by Bassist and Vocalist James Dewar (RIP) unfortunately.
I'm sure you've seen plenty of "stank-face" from various guitar masters as they ply their trade, but when you come across a record so filthy it gives YOU the stank-face just listening to it, you know it's a winner. Trower's cuts inspired a whole generation of stank-faced air guitarists like nobody else.
That whole album was a classic and worth reacting to, Robin Trower was amazing when he went solo after leaving Procol Harem. If you have not heard, do Bridge of Sighs next, if you have, try Little Bit of Sympathy, Daydream or Sinner's Song, all dope and some of the best blues rock based music ever. Enjoy! 🎵🎸🎤🎶
Love Trower. I saw the 1975 tour in Detroit and that was one of the best (and loudest) concerts I have ever seen. My older brother smuggled in a telephoto camera in, and I have some awesome pics. The whole album is fire!
There's not a bad song on this album. Robin got such great tone out of his guitar, and James Dewar on bass and vocals made this one of the best Blues-Rock Power Trios EVER! Checkout "Little Bit of Sympathy" from the same album.
Robin Trower was one of the many guitar gods that came out during that time, like Johnny Winter, Frank Marino and several others. There had to be something in the water back then. Excellent artist choice for a reaction.
I got to see the Robin Trower trio live when this first came out at an outdoor cocert in California ("Mountain Air" circa 1977). Before that I got to see them indoors in 1976 at the Sacramento Memorial Auditorium with Sammy Hagar (newly departed from Montrose) as the opening act. Unforgettable! The loudest concert I ever attended. I can still remember my ears numb and ringing.
Robin Trower guitar, James Dewer vocals/bassist and Reg Isidor drums. Such a tasty song and album. Robin obviously is a really good guitarist who leans on the blues
watup Biz, glad you checked Robin out, if i could recommend a dope one check out I Can't Wait Much Longer. It is from their live winterland concert in the 70s, it is great.
There’s nothing wrong with good music. He played by the beat of his own drummer and never sold out up or down. Play some cards on a weekend day, turn your tv off and enjoy your life people. Thanks for being you Biz
FYYYYYYRRRRRRR!!!! 😊WANT MORE FROM THIS ALBUM ( BRIDGE OF SIGHS ) IT'S JUST 7 TRACKS JUST LIKE DEEP PURPLE ( MACHINE HEAD ) ALLLLLLLLLL BANGERS! 😊DAY OF THE EAGLE, THE FOOL AND ME, LITTLE BIT OF SYMPATHY 👍

Before Rush, Stevie Ray and Van Halen….. there were Robin Trower, “Frank Marino and Mahogany Rush” (also Canadian) and Jeff Beck, just to name a few. I have no regrets on a misspent youth, because these guys laid it down hard and it still brings a smile. You should try Trower’s “Day Of The Eagle.” Exact same structure as this one. Try the whole album, it’s a Classic. 🤘😎
Trower is a real pro with his signature sound (great musician) I hear a little Jimmy Hendrix in his playing probably an influence for sure if you get a chance, do a reaction to Day of the Eagle great song
Early in his career he was with "Procol Harum"..Check out "Whiskey Train"..(mid 60's)..Great song, but I warn you, you might get run over by a cowbell in that one..I'd say rivals Blue Oyster Cult's "Don't Fear The Reaper" in that department, if you could believe it.
YES!!!! Thank you to whoever requested Robin. No disrespect intended, but there are so many more great British guitarists than Eric Clapton. Little by little you are being turned on to the greats.
