Yes, that happens all the time, I want to discuss an issue and he says we will talk about it on the weekend and go to dinner, and then he invites other friends and talks about other things, and we never get to the bottom of it and then he calls me crazy

Something that is really cool is that I have been taking care of my dad for three years, so my memory has been a little bit bad as my dad has dementia, and I mentioned that to my ex-boyfriend, so he is really played on that
He tells me all the time that I repeat myself, he tells me that nobody likes me because I’m crazy and that I don’t remember anything
Not a sales person to have around when you are actually having problems like that

I have siblings who gaslight, one in particular has done everything you have described in this video.... and also to my elder sister. I grew up listening to the gaslighter at work on my eldest sister. Ive had to cut the gaslighters completely out of my life.

Just went to last weeks podcast which was also compromised to say that there was nowhere to comment. I saw your frustration so you know those of us who wanted to comment were not able. Hope this helps you as much as you've been helping me.
One thing I have learned to do, instead of writing them and texting them, because they will say you are crazy for texting is to open up the voice notes on my phone and talk into it and get it out

Great idea! You know how I often I say that there is no point in poking a Hijackal!
A few things, it seems like they always say, they accuse you of not being able to communicate, and they accuse you of being crazy
They Poison the Well, once you are labeled crazy it is hard to come back from that and that is a very strong word
You're right: HIjackals are big into labeling other people in negative ways. It's how they think they reinforce their superiority. Sad. 😞

Is there a question that we can ask somebody when just meeting them that will help identify this type of person right off the bat so we can completely avoid the whole abuse nightmare?
There’s certain characteristics and traits they all seem to have. Is as if they all read off of similar scripts. From my personal experience, here’s things to look out for: lies, manipulating, gaslighting (of course), blame shifting, projecting, denying, deflecting, silent treatment, hardly ever an apology, guilt tripping, professional victim, no shame or remorse, fragile ego’s, not very self-aware, love power/ control, they seem to be confident & charismatic also need fuel aka narcissistic supply ( which is either positive or negative emotional energy, adulation , admiration, adoration and can’t ever have enough attention )… their cycle usually looks something like this- love bomb, devalue and discard. They’re addicted to drama and will have flying monkeys ( people to take their side ) by starting a smear campaign manipulating their perceptions of the chosen target.

I must be really lucky! My whole family gaslights me. People should be psychologically evaluated and assessed as an adult to see if they have these personality disorders. It should be forbidden for them to reproduce and put children through this insidious type of abuse.
The fact that it is an intentional… makes them evil
I’m dealing with this right now, my ex is telling me that I’m crazy and all of his friends think I’m crazy
I offered to babysit his daughter who has autism because I have been a caretaker for my father and he said I’m trying too hard
I buy a birthday present for one of his friends and he says I’m trying too hard
He says none of his friends like me and that I’m crazy
I I notice, he only says these things when he wants to spend the weekend with his friends, he almost picks a fight with me, instead of just communicating
Which is the other accusation, I’m a bad communicator lol, that is laughable, I am here looking for information on how to communicate better, I almost over communicate
But they would let you sit and spin and question yourself, he also tells me not to overthink lol

Yes. It sounds as though you are being gaslighted AND used. Those add up to being emotionally abused.

I've been dealing with this and a narcissist for the last 12 years. I've tried and tried and tried. I just can't any longer. I can't. I can't work anymore. I have 8 diagnosed health issues. And I'm in the gym every day.
I told her when next tax time gets here where done. She has to find a new place. My house when we got together.
