It’s why a dog’s owner is punished when it bites someone instead of the actual dog. What I find hilarious, is that she says we should not define our lives by the possessions we own, which is a good idea. Then she goes on to define her life by the possessions she doesn’t own. She is defining her life just in the opposite direction. It’s kinda like saying “I don’t care if you are only marrying me for my money or not, but will you still sign a prenuptial agreement?” Still, it’s a bad idea and impossible to do away with ownership. Once people lose their own individual stake in something, they tend to do the bare minimum. Private ownership gives people an incentive to do their best. It encourages innovation, efficiency and quality. You get out what you put in. Do the best, get the best. Sorry about all the caffeine.

I do agree that her takes are very extreme and insane. However, there are 2 points she makes that I partially agree with: cars and cities. I believe that roads and parking for cars should be REDUCED (but not eliminated) to make more room for pedestrians and efficient public transit. Owning a car should be a right, not a necessity, and by making room for other modes of transportation we can accommodate those who can't or don't want to own a car. Also, she does make a good point in my opinion regarding cities. For a really long time, cities were compact and all the places where you lived, shopped and worked at were in close proximity and usually within a walking distance. This started changing during suburbanization, when the places we live in became spread out and separated from commercial areas. Most big cities in Europe and Asia follow this mixed-use model where everything you need is within a walking distance. I myself live in a place like this and I don't find it very dystopian. I understand that some people may not want to live in a densely populated area. Those people can and should have the right to live in a rural area if they want to. TL;DR: Her takes are extreme but I agree with her that 1. not everybody wants to own a car and 2. a lot of people like living in places where everything is within a walking distance.

"Today, our photos exist safe in the cloud..." Our files exist, approximately safe since we're at the whim of our technological overlords (unless we--Gasp!--take responsibility, i.e., ownership, of our digital storage) in the cloud. In my mind, a photo that hasn't been printed doesn't exist at all. And do you remember _1984_ being deleted from people's Kindles? And don't kid yourself about "autonomous" cars: they'll be driven by cops and bureaucrats, not by you.
They are BACKED UP to the cloud. Having the only copy there would be idiotic
@@nostep3966 Idiotic indeed, but that's what she envisions. My backup is backed up to the cloud, per 3-2-1 strategy.
Cloud is deleting files after while and if you miss warnings and it's your only copy then bye your files. agreed... well said
Three years later, I'm still searching for a comm where somebody agrees with her
I'm reading this comment 2 years later and still looking....
"And the minute you say or do anything the government doesn't like, you will be placed on a list and banned from using any services. Sure you might feel hungry and want a roof over your head but you will have to wait 6 months before your social credit score goes back to acceptable levels and you can rent a portion of a loaf of bread" All said in a giddy voice.
It may not even get to that point due to not even owning your own mind. Your freewill is in the past and your assimilated to the Borg-Collective.
Lol not really a religious guy but it’s pretty funny how her jewelry is a satanic star
This lady is blind. Her entire world is just what she experiences, with no thought of who owns the services that she consumes, and the consequences of any sort of malfunction. To her, it's as simple as "I press button, drone bring food! Hooray!"
Hahaha. She never mentioned government anywhere
This is purely the fantasy of a free market capitalist. This is what the world looked like in the late 1800s. A few corporations owning everything.
“Our freedom of choice in a competitive society rests on the fact that, if one person refuses to satisfy our wishes, we can turn to another. But if we face a monopolist we are at his absolute mercy. And an authority directing the whole economic system of the country would be the most powerful monopolist conceivable…it would have complete power to decide what we are to be given and on what terms. It would not only decide what commodities and services were to be available and in what quantities; it would be able to direct their distributions between persons to any degree it liked.”

He is right. This is horror being presented as a shiny present.
You child is correct. Even very small children have a strong sense of ownership and boundaries - these are MY toys. It's instinctive and natural.
I had the same thought - it's absolutely horrifying the idea that you can never keep anything. The only reason you take away another's possessions is expropriation.
You cannot own anything unless through illegal means. Very sad. Wrap speed to the dark ages, I guess? I don't understand why anyone would want to have children if this situation could not be changed. But most people are still in denial about all this and keep having kids that would most likely going to live in this nightmate.
