Yes, I feel like a bum.. I have no real job besides random freelancing, my "business" idea flopped.. yet at the same time, I feel like I'm spending more quality time with the people I love doing the things I love. It's like I'm actually living life to the fullest, minus the "succeeding" in making a stable income and stuff like that. I totally relate to what you said about losing motivation to life and work and so on. I love your tripod/camera bag by the way, looks really cool and easy to carry.
@@joshnaito I used to do videography a few months ago, a few years ago I did video editing. But to be honest I'm not enjoying doing that kind of work for others anymore. I'm only into editing my own films and videos, which I realize is extremely selfish, but the kind of work that was available to me at those times was mainly advertising or social media type stuff which I'm not a fan of. Sometimes I freelance randomly like writing or voiceover, but I don't come across those opportunities that often. Sorry for the ramble hehe, it's been on my mind.
I don’t mind rambling. I asked 😁. I’ve been busy myself with commercial work and documentary style videos recently. Although I’ve been working on passion projects for my portfolio to attract that kind of clientele. My portfolio allowed me to pick what kinds of videos to do instead of what I was doing 2 years ago (begging for small video jobs from local businesses..) 😅 I don’t think it’s selfish as much as self love. Building your dreams instead of someone else’s. I agree. No matter the job I definitely have more fun making videos for myself!
Same bro, I feel like life is really huge sea to dive into. We tend to look up somebody paths and trigger us. No kidding, being young adult is difficult. You have to walk alone despite of so many standards on society.
Lucky for us only 10% of the words oceans are mapped. There’s a lot for us to find out there. In the world and that’s part of the excitement that we can find something that others haven’t come across before 😊
Brother i feel you .... I literally post nothing on social media but over the last year have literally drove myself crazy on waiting on the "right time" to start my own actual channel and have spent countless hours on binge watching YT and telling myself after i get this piece of equipment then i can start ... then once i get that piece of equipment there ends up being another that I use as an excuse to get started, So what am I actually waiting for is what i constantly asked myself but in reality ive realized the question I need to be asking is what am i afraid of. I have finally realized the answer, it was that I was scared of not jumping on YT and having a super high quality video and doing alot of comparing before i even have something to compare with.... I can definitely resonate with this video Josh and appreciate the inspiration.... Its time to make that channel that ive beat myself up about over the last year and stop making excuses and get started.
what helped me when I went through something like this was: 'Perfection is the killer for progress.' I would have never started anything because perfection cannot be attained without training, without practice, without a journey... maybe never, but that seems to have become the beauty of it. The grace of just enjoying creating. Thank you for the courage to share 🌻 All the very best to you and your endeavours 🍀
All the best to you too! I like how you say “ perfection can’t be attained without training “ I have a mini doc that I just shot about a martial arts / fitness coach. Part of it is going to be heavily about that !
@@joshnaito that sounds very intriguing, I wish you a very successful project and also the beauty of being able to learn from every aspect of it too! is what I love about content creation and overall creative work: the innate wisdom you are able to take away from every project 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
I wasn’t going to leave a comment but after reading a few comments I changed my mind. I could use this time to be selfish and vent a little, hopefully you don’t mind! I didn’t expect it, but just seeing people around my age have a job AND be happy gave me a pang of jealousy. It made me realize that I am almost always ambivalent towards what society is trying to get us to do: more. I want to make money as a creative to live in my own place near my college campus. Right now this doesn’t seem too bad, as I want to learn how to turn scholarships into a form of art (and money) for myself. I can do better than okay. I can prioritize goals. But, they’re not the same as self-worth. They should never be the main source, anyway. I’m using this video as a reminder that I can navigate through new storms. New changes, more deadlines. (There’s a little more than just doing scholarships) I am more than okay. I’m better than good. Not because I know it all, but because I can learn to adapt. Being a creative has helped teach me the importance of adapting through experience. ❤ I’m a writer
It’s not selfish. If anything this comment is a form of selflessness because this testimony could help another person in a similar space as you. As a writer you should definitely start posting on medium. Your work could help others and “venting” is not a selfish thing if it’s from the pretense of helping others. Keep up the good work and you’re definitely doing better than good 👍🏼

It’s so hard finding the motivation when people younger than me are doing better especially when I try so hard on my videos there’s sometimes where I’m editing non stop then there’s a whole month or two where I give up 😕
