    got my F80 right when COVID started for $38k with 40k miles im at 105k miles, it's been so reliable and so easy to maintain thanks to companies like fcp plus all the diy videos on YT. It's plenty fast for the average enthusiast with just bolt on and tune. It makes upgrading to a 80-90k G80 reallly hard even tho I can afford it i just love my F80 plus an $800-$1k car payment doesn't sound fun maybe once the prices are closer to the 50k I'll upgrade

    Awesome video and spot on. And without question any s55 that I’d build for 1000% I would do the crank hub. Also to add to your M value I wouldn’t leave out the f87 either. I have found a ton of clean examples for sale for between 35-55k would is amazing. I got my 2018 lci with 32k miles for 44k all options and stock one owner. Could’ve had the m2c for about 6k more but I honestly prefer the n55b. I am not a fan of any s55 sound regardless of EL mid pipes etc….. now if I did it all over again I’d sayyyy the only way I’d do the s55 with a top mount single turbo and they siiiick. Great video and love the new talks and content. The series M cars are a great time for people to buy right now 💯.

    I was stuck between an F82 and an F32 440i. Both are good cars but ended up going with a 440i M Sport with MPPSK because of the sound. That B58 sound ❤ The F8x definitely wins in the aggressive look and performance though.

      @@iceboxash1126 B58 plus the auto trans has far more performance potential than the S55 with dct. Most people talk about track times,but 99 percent drag race. An the M4 is quite a heavy car on the track. It's really a street car. But yes, both great options. Aftermarket development has taken the b58 auto with or without the x drive option much farther than the S55 with dct has ever gone. A b58 440i xdrive auto is much closer to a G80 m3 comp with S58 and xdrive than an F80 M3 with s55 and dct is. It's the more advanced pratform from BMW. Much like the 335i easily outperforms to e92 M3 of it's era... The same could not be said of the E46. The e46 M3 was the highest performance e46. That stopped being the case in the e90 generation.

AN E9x under ~80k miles was 40k+.... an e46 m3 was the same or more, and the clean F8X non comps with sub 50k miles were hanging around 45k.

    As a Brit and someone who has lived in the US (Lancaster, SC) I find hard to listen to a content creator’s mainly in the US whom constantly put out false narratives about BMW’s when you highlighted that fact that all cars need maintenance for longevity.
    I’m now on 10th BMW (F32 440i, msport) and out of all ten cars none have ever left me stranded.
    My E46 330ci 🥰, had an issue with the gearbox but that was because I found after purchase that he did not maintain it correctly but once that was serviced along with all consumables it was a joy to own.
    BMW are great cars if owned by careful owners who like to modify and drive fast you need the maintenance first.
    Thanks for great content.

    I’ve been looking around trying to decide on an n55 m2 or spending the extra few grand for an m3/4. The cars at the price point mentioned in the video are too high mileage for my personal preference in a bmw, and I’m finding that the mileage I like is still a bit on the expensive side. Is it worth it to just wait and hope the prices come down a bit later in the year or just grab an f87 in the meantime?

    • @kaiichinose9590
      @kaiichinose9590 5 місяців тому +1

      I suppose it depends on what you need and what your goals are. What mileage and transmission are you going for? Do you need 4 doors. Honestly money isn’t an issue for me I was torn between a m2 LCI or m2c for roughly a 5-7k difference which didn’t bother me. I drove both and I ultimately went with the n55b. I prefer the m2 chassis over the m4 if we’re talking 2 doors. With that said this is not my daily but I could easily daily the m2. I am not a fan of the s55, it performs amazing but the sound to me regardless just sounds like a loud tin can. It’s great a low idle but in the high band it just doesn’t do it. The n55B in the m2 is freaking amazing and sounds fantastic. I am building mine out for the road and track and will have about 550whp on 93. If I ever did an s55 it would be a top mount single turbo conversion and those sound amazing. Have you driven any of these cars before? They should be quite easy to find to test drive. That will ultimately be your answer. I’ve tracked a slightly modded m3cs, m2c and og, m4. I had an m3 e92, 335IS, 340i xdrive 6spd. All great flavors of bmw.

    • @piercetucker1644
      @piercetucker1644 5 місяців тому

      @@kaiichinose9590 wow first of all thanks for such a comprehensive reply it genuinely helps. I have not driven any of the cars mentioned, closest things are probably an F87 M240 and an F30 335i m sport but I basically know at this point those are incomparable to an M in terms of chassis dynamics. I would like something with 40k or fewer miles but a cleaner example closer to 50k would be considered as well. It would definitely be a manual also. I feel I would prefer the M2 in stock form due to the handling but the power potential of the s55 is what makes me so uncertain about it. I always hear about how difficult it is to make power on the n55 relative to the S variant. If I could get the M2 to around 500whp I think I’d be satisfied

    • @kaiichinose9590
      @kaiichinose9590 5 місяців тому

      @@piercetucker1644 you are most welcome to hit me up anytime. It depends on what you want. If I were to do an s55 it would be on an m4 and I would do single turbo. I absolutely cannot take the sound of the s55 but that’s just preference. The n55b 30TO in the m2 og can make 500 whp no problem. If you take into account for drive train loss that equates to around 580-600bhp. In a small lightish chassis that is a lot of power. The s55 delivers the power in a different way because of the twin turbo set but both cars stock are very close if talk 0-100 or qtr mile being only a .3 second difference. I would say your best bet would be to find a used example to test drive. And I will also say if you go s55 route just for peace of mind is to do the crank hub which is about a 4k job alone but we’ll worth it esp if you are going to mod. I have driven all these vehicles and for me the sound of the og m2 in LCI trim with a 6spd and 500whp is a perfect road car. If I want to do some crazy highway pulls I’ll use my 800whp c7 z06. I’m just not into that as much as actual driving and auto cross now.

      @brandoncheer9382 5 місяців тому

      Yes! The n55 in the og m2 had the same forged internals from the S55 amongst other M parts mashed in. Only thing I would recommend doing is the rod bearings, but other than that, no issues apart from regular bmw maintenance (valve cover gaskets, oil filter gaskets, etc)

    I've been going back and forth over the decision to make an M3 my next vehicle but I keep hearing these BMWs are great cars, they're also are maintenance monsters and become money pits after a while. And I'd definitely want an older one. I really like the 2008-2011 models.

      E9x will cost a bit more in maintainence for sure! But they are just so special! Lol

      Get things into perspective, any car you buy will cost money in maintenance, so it depends on if you can afford to maintain the car, and how well ya gonna look after it and if you’ll be using daily or not, after owning an E46 330 m sport convertible for 7 years, I’ve just recently bought an E92 330 m sport, only to realise that cos I do really low mileage in a car, as I have a motorbike which I use to go to work and back on, therefore the car doesn’t get used daily, I worked it out I can afford to get an E92 M3, so, as long as all goes well over the next year, I’m gonna have some fun with the 1 I just bought, then trade it in and go for the M3, why not!!, with my usage, it also won’t depreciate in value, just giving u some food for thought 🤷🏻

      i have my f80 for sale I'm the second owner, first owner was a older guy and i only have had it for like 8 months and the reason I'm selling it is because I'm getting the g80 I love the one i have but came up the opportunity of getting a new one.

    Its better too just buy a brand new 330i M sport package. Thats what my 17 year old brother did. U know it wont have any problems, hold value better, u get all the new tech. I guess unless u wanna flex u got an Old M car. He paid 40k for his 330i M sport.
