@thatbobguy9778 Agreed. This album is highly overlooked. Metallica's first four albums are just amazing. Now, if we could get the bass added to ...And Justice For All.
Ride the lightning was an absolute work of art. I did not know that 40 years ago because Purple Rain came out the same year and had a chokehold on me and my bestie the first time I heard it😂😂😂
It's a song about war, referencing a poem by John Donne For Whom The Bell Tolls: No man is an island, Entire of itself. Each is a piece of the continent, A part of the main. If a clod be washed away by the sea, Europe is the less. As well as if a promontory were. As well as if a manor of thine own Or of thine friend’s were. Each man’s death diminishes me, For I am involved in mankind. Therefore, send not to know For whom the bell tolls, It tolls for thee.
I got thrown out of a bar in 1988 when a cover band played this and I lost my shit and threw a chair across the room trying to start a mosh pit. I was quite drunk...good times!
This song makes you feel like a conqueror 😂😂 "TAKE A LOOK TO THE SKY JUST BEFORE YOU DIE" James Hetfield's delivery even back than at 21 years old was just so immensely eloquent and powerful.
But the word on I like some of there songs not all but the biggest problem I have with this band is that the greed that they pushed out because they were like we're losing money because of sharing and had the popular sharing sites at the time shut down and that's why you reactors have such a hard time with music and movies and TV shows without having to jump through a whole bunch of hoops to get them on and you can blame the drummer I think his name's Lars
This entire album deserves a reaction. Bangers from top to bottom
Gotchaaa

The song is inspired by the novel of the same name by Ernest Hemingway. It's about the Spanish Civil War.

My earliest memories of this song.. back of the bus while going home from HS
You should check out their performance from Day on the Green. You will get a great example of the amazing Cliff Burton and a young Metallica
Will do
You pick the best songs bro!
I try too
Legendary track, possibly Metallica's best. Moonsorrow do a brilliant cover version of it, for anyone interested.

You can't go wrong with any songs on their first 3 albums.
Let’s gooo
First 4
@@RTJustice99 Fair enough, I just didn't care for the entire And Justice For All album, personally.
I haven't seen a 2-fer for a while, but a good one would be the song "Stone Cold Crazy" between Metallica and Queen.

I relive my first time listening to these songs you review . I was 13 in 1988. Jaw dropping album. Please go see them live while you can.
