Thank you for taking the time to make this! Super helpful!
Two things I encountered after unhooking everything:
1. I could not get the pump out from the top or the bottom, ended up undoing my swaybar bushings to lower it a couple of inches, allowing the pump to be wiggled out the bottom.
2. Putting the new one in, I found that the bolt 'brackets' on the new pump were a few thousandths of a mm wider than the OEM ones. Had to file each side down and made 'em just a hair narrower than OEM as it was in so tight I had to use a prybar to get it out...
Thanks buddy your video saved me around 300-600 👍🍻
Thank you for your time on this!
Fantastic video. Helped me tremendously
I really like the fast forward.
Well done.
As a suggestion, maybe next time you can include the symptom/condition that lead to the need to replace the pump. Also, might suggest doing a rebuild of a pump vs just replacement.
symptoms include a "whining/screeching" sound on start up, especially cold start up when the fluid is cold and harder to move by the pump. whining/screeching sound when turning the wheel. may sound like a squeaky serpentine belt when it starts going bad but sound will get worse if not taken care off. if one of the seals went bad well then you can visually see that.
Outstanding!
got to change my power streering pump on 08 fj.😮
good job amigo
Where was the pump itself leaking from?
Is it the same for Tacoma 2016 v6 ?
The pressure line connection to the pump is a little different on my 06 Tacoma 4x4 6 speed 6 cylinder. Don’t want to break it, will have to do further research. Everything else was accurate. Thanks
Can the pressure be adjusted?
All the videos on changing the power steering pump yet none mention replacing the o-ring and crush gasket. How about the corresponding part number for the gasket kit?
They come with the pump 😂
I'm pretty sure your supposed to use ATF for the 2nd gen tacoma's
Truths
And it also has to be Dexron
Correctomundo
kinda of true, it HAS to dextron II or III atf fluid, no the normal WS ATF fluid. please dont spread misinformation if you dont know exactly.
incorrect, it has to be dexron ATF, no any ATF@@SlimeInnaTaco
Might as well take the timeing cover off, it has the oil leak that Toyota 4.0 engine is notorious for, just fixed mine and was a major job! Toyota should have fixed it. They have went south on there quality since early 2000..
No one ever shows where you are accessing the pump from . Under or above the vehicle makes locating all of this very difficult
the truck is on a lift dude what do u think
he removed the skid plate and his hands are coming from the bottom, are you blind?
He's actually accessing a lot of this through the passenger side wheel well.
That's why I don't do drugs.
I have a 2017 Tacoma TRD Off Road with 3 inch lift on kings and icon upper and 33inch tires. Is it normal for my steering rack and Power steering pump needing replacement after 170,000km (106,000 miles) ???
I had to replace mine at 93000
@@rubenalvarez6475 I've got 534,000 miles on mine. It's a 2005, guess I should change it.
I've got 500k plus on mine and I'm just now thinking about replace it just because lol
