    Mine was right at $1,450 with no optic. Upper:BCM ELW MK2 BFH, BCG: Free with BCM upper, Muzzle: Surefire 3 prong flash hider, Lower: M4E1 Aero Blem Lower Parts: Sionics enhanced LPK, Stock: Magpul SL with springco spring+buffer, Grip, Magpul K2, Charging Handle: Radian Raptor Blem with talon safety, Mags: 3 magpul mags, Trigger: Geissele SSA-E Lot of parts grabbed them during their holiday sales so got a decent discount.

      @@crazypersonlol34 Well I never said mine was a budget build. Name a higher end fully assembled rifle for $1,500 (After tax, background, shipping and FFL fees) because my price above is all after tax, shipping, ffl fees and background check fees. Must have the same or similar specs & quality as the brands listed above. Because you are going to be hard pressed to do that with out sacrificing something.
      Just one example of a popular brand - Daniel Defenses cheapest rifle is $1,993 before tax, ffl, background and shipping. So in my state thats 2,347 out the door. Still $897 dollars more then what I spent for same of better specs in specific areas of the fully assembled rifle.

      Aero sells a lot of builder kits (upper, lower, handguard) with cool cerakote jobs including a bunch of camo ones. They seem to have new ones every few months. IMO aero upper/lower/handguards are pretty excellent, pair it with a high quality BCG and a good barrel.
      You can cerakote or paint your own parts but itll probably be cheaper and easier to buy a build kit in the pattern you like.

My advice to people who are getting into self reliance, buy a glock, then a cheap rifle to start practicing, and then immediately begin saving to build or buy a budget friendly, quality rifle you can trust. I only buy parts during major holiday sales. That’s how you build cheaper high end AR15 builds. It takes longer but once you already have 1 good solid AR15, the other builds are just for fun so they can take longer to build. If you have military discount or any type of first responder discount, parts get even cheaper because some companies will let you stack discounts.

    The best way to go about building your first rifle is to buy cheap and slowly upgrade as you are able to. Once experienced I would recommend saving up and then do a full custom build. This way you can find what you like and what you don’t like as well as how to go about building/specing one out

    Per Cloud Defensive’s own website: “To provide the highest level of supporting structure, this mount should be attached in a way that it does not have any portion hanging off the rail. If it hangs off the rail, it does run a risk of being bent under pressure.”

    Top notch as always. I always laugh at the cost complaints. The same folks waste more than $1500 on cigarettes, alcohol, drugs, and sex every year. But complain about a $1500 rifle build… just accept that it’s not your priority. And keep your complaints to yourself.

    Ok, so here's a question about builds. Some folks talk about a "duty rated" or "battle rated" rifle, but what does that even really mean? If you use all mil-spec parts, made to the correct tolerances, using the correct materials, you have a mil-spec rifle. That, by definition, must be "duty rated" because it follows all the requirements to be issued to the military, hence mil-spec. Do I want an ambi safety? Yes. Do I want an ambi charging handle? Yes. Aside from personal preferences, am I really paying for vastly superior parts by spending more, am I paying for better QC, or am I just paying more for the hell of it?
    So I may pay more for a silent capture spring because I think it actually functions better than the original part. Triggers are obvious upgrades as they have objectively different pull weights, feels, etc.. But again, if everything on the rifle is properly mil-spec, there should be no real reason to say that you have anything less than a "duty rated" rifle. For me to care about a part, tell me you use a material that is stronger than the mil-spec. Tell me you made the part beefier to be more durable. Tell me you used a finish that has some clear advantage and no disadvantages over the proscribed mil-spec finish. Otherwise, mil-spec is mil-spec is good enough for duty use. Certainly good enough for weekly plinking or less.

    • @BobaDavis
      @BobaDavis Рік тому

      I'm curious - if you were looking to acquire a SHTF rifle and money wasn't an object, would you be looking to have the entire rifle Mil-Spec?
      If say you had a rifle and you needed part replacement but your situation is reduced to scavenging for parts would it have been better for you to have a custom built or would it make no difference if you had a DDM4A1, or would that DD have parts that MUST be particular to that brand? Essentially, I want the best built rifle without being bound to any series of parts that would be hard to get.
      I figure that if I really want a SHTF rifle, it really should be built with that in mind, right?
