Creating a Brine Shrimp Ecosphere (Artemia Ecosphere)

- In this video I decided to create a Brine Shrimp Ecosphere. This is my first saltwater ecosphere and I am interested to see how it develops. I had some eggs lying around that I had bought online and decided to try them inside an ecosphere. This is my first time working with Artemia.
This video was particularly challenging for me to film as the brine shrimp never stay still. They're frantic swimmers that never stop moving. I reckon as they mature and get bigger it'll become a little easier to film them.
I noticed a lot when studying the ecosphere that the hatchling brine shrimp tend to get stuck on algae, debris or even each other. This surprised me, which is why I showed some of it happening in the video.
Will be interesting to see how this one develops as I've never attempted an ecosphere with so little biodiversity before. Not my usual video I know, but if you like it let me know in the comments.
Can we get an update on the brine shrimp ecosphere? I would love to build one, but I would want to make sure the shrimp have everything they need to thrive. Thank you
If there was ever a man who could make a Sea Monkey civilization work, I have a feeling it'd be this guy.
Ooo your channel is growing fast, remember me when you hit 100k lol
Thanks for your kind words, 100K would be amazing. You have a memorable name so i'll deffo remember you!
@@Jartopia I always get relaxed by your content, i once have covid19 now its gone thanks to you..

@@Jartopia I made one today out of a small jar

I made it out of my nans backyard
He hit 100k

You deserve more viewers because you put so much work and effort into your videos
I hope you will keep us updated if you keep it!
Brine shrimp conspiracy theorists: 2020 we have proved the dome is a thing.
I love watching these Jar Ecosphere videos during my college work, it's so interesting and satisfying
Your channel is so therapeutic. So peaceful. Thanks for making such amazing content. Love the beautiful terrariums. 💖
This looks really cool I might want to try this someday
Keep up the good work! :)
I love your videos keep up the good work man
Thanks, will do!
good job 👍
I love how they look like they are going super fast
Now I want to see little Cthulu in the next salt water ecosystem...
I found your channel through looking into ecosystems for an art project, and honestly i'm hooked! Your content is so relaxing and interesting :) would love to see some mushroom terrariums maybe?
We are waiting to update ^^
Really enjoy the content keep up the good work 👍
Fuck You Andrew
This is what real world building looks like!
Do u give them food or put more water? Do u open the lead sometimes? And how many hours do u put light. Srry I want to do one I have the eggs
I'm as curious as you I got eggs and it's been pretty hard for me to keep those little things alive long
Крутое видео!
We have one thing in common👍
Nice
Hello! i was wondering if you could tell me how you view and film your ecosystems. I recently got a macro lens attachment for my phone but it does not seem to zoom in as far as you do in your videos. If you could let me know what you use and what brand that would be great, thank you! Love the content.
Yep you definitely had sea monkeys as a kid. 👍
Who didn’t? They were awesome! Such a brilliant marketing plan.
Can you close this jar for a long time?
Sea Monkeys!
What camera that you used?
did you collect the substrate yourself?
They don't need air stone ?
Can we have a update?
what a different existence, so lonely, so alien to me. life is vast.
Where did the worms come from?
They were from the substrate
@Just some alien • 9000 years ago Substrate is the soil he added at the start
Finally this is it this is a good video
Do follow ups on all the Jars.
I couldn't get the brine shrimp population to survive past the first generation. I will do an update of it in the future when I attempt it again. As of right now there is nothing to show you guys.
@@Jartopia
I was wondering about how they were going to survive, because you didn’t mention what they eat normally, nor add anything for a food source. How sad they starved to death.
@@anti-ethniccleansing465 There was algae inside the jar with them and for species like ostracods, copepods etc that would have been a suitable food source. In this case it wasn't enough to keep them alive. I can only guess they need some kind of saltwater infusoria that is native to their natural habitat to feed on as well as algae. Out of all the ecospheres I've made this one has always been the odd one out. I had a lot of subscribers at the time request I attempted one with brine shrimp. With this specific ecosphere I had no way of sourcing their natural habitat's (salt lake) ecology and it ended up failing. Mistakes do happen in this hobby and I plan learn from my mistakes so that it never happens again.
How artemia/brime shrimp eggs got decapsulated
Can you feed these to fish
Yes. Brine shrimp are often used as live feed for fish.
3:46 i'm fast as fuck boiiiii
Haha, thanks for watching!
Show them once they are big, they look way cooler!
Sorry but where artemia get food
According to South Park,
Seamen + sea people = sea society
Oh wow, I live in the dessert so I can’t really do this ;-;
I think I wrote this on the wrong video, idk it was very late when I wrote this.
dapnia magna
Sea Monkeys! :D Very cute, very spastic.
O will never leave the glass with dirty water kkk
That not creating that hatching
I hatch brine shrimp every day for my betta fry and I keep the eggs that not hatching and let it grow up, when the brine shrimp grow up i will wait they lay eggs after that it will become the dinner for my betta fish 😂😂
