A Bustling Ecosystem within a Jar │ Seasonal Wetland Ecosphere - 1 Month Update
Вставка
- Опубліковано 6 жов 2024
- In this video we're taking a look at the Seasonal Wetland Ecosphere I built on the 6th of August 2020. The ecosphere is 1 Month old now, so I wanted to do an update video.
A lot has changed within the system. A majority of the plants that were in the substrate died back. They have started to regrow, but haven't recovered as quickly as I thought they'd have. There are mosses and some sort of aquatic plant. I'll have to keep and eye on it to see if any new plant species emerge.
Many organisms are still present within the ecosphere. There is an extremely diverse selection of Ostracod, Copepod and Snail species, which have been thriving in this ecosphere since it's creation.
Species such as the Epibiotic Algae, which was seen covering the bodies of Copepods in the first video seems to have either declined or died out in this system. The Scavenger Beetles also are no longer in this system. I removed them as the duckweed was growing too thick for them to deal with and I didn't want them to drown.
There is a certain species of worm in this video that remind me of facehuggers from the Alien franchise. I got some really good footage of it and forgot to put it into the video. Sorry guys.
Enjoy my content? Please don't forget to subscribe! It really helps me out. :D
EDIT: The worms at 9:06 turned out to be Naiadid Worms (Dero digitata)
May I ask you what type of camera did you use to film these footages? Incredible video as usual ❤️
Thanks for the new video : D
Please man, i really want to do my own ecosphere. What should i to do?
which camera do you use?
hey jar, please tell us what camera you use, thank you love ur work
I am a plant lady who used to dislike insects due to the damage they can do to my plants. However, since I have found your channel I have realized there is a symbiotic relationship between plants and insects. Working with them instead of against them has not only improved my plant growth but it also opened up this world of alien life I am so incredibly fascinated with...Thank you!
Isn't it incredible how things all work in balance?
Now extend this research and you will find that bacteria and virusses are working exactly the same for our body. Not against it but in a symbiotic way.
@@musicwanderer188 So true!
Same. I used to hate worms and suffer from dehabilitating arachnophobia. But being a plant lover who keeps his hands in the soil, you run across everything. Insects I Didnt even know exist.
As far as spiders, when I moved I made sure to get a few spiders in my plants as they eat the insects I dont want hanging around.
So...so much for my dislike of worms and spiders.
There’s something so unbelievably relaxing about these videos.
Might be the music,
but I also just have 2 cats on me rn so I'm probably just overly relaxed

Shadowsight_is_my_spirit_animal ‘ that's something my old friend Freddy would say, he's cool he drives an M3 you're probably the version of him to your friend group
@@nac-1 Matpat: But that's just propaganda! SOVIET propaganda! Thanks for watching.
Music adds a lot to it.
Your video's remind me why, after well over half a century, I've never lost my love and awe of science and the natural world.
Fascinating how the snail can quickly go to the surface using an air bubble.
Yes it is
That last worm, Naiadid, are absolutely incredible. All of the creatures within the ecosphere are breathtaking but those worms were so interesting. Their red hue and the way they move, almost look like a heart beat line on a monitor that you see in hospitals. Love it.
I didn’t believe this stuff was possible and that organisms appear out of no where until I tried it myself today. I’m truly humbled and I apologize for doubting this person. I’ll also continue this unique hobby from now on. Thank you. You’re Awesome man💯❤️🙏🏾.
I mean, they don't appear out of nowhere. They were there from the start, except for the ones that were born there.
Same for me! I Never thought something so magical can really happen. I'm definitively you '1 one fan! Just found the channel, already crazy for it!
Awesome
This reminds me of blue planet but in a jar. Both are equally soothing to watch over and over again.
these videos make me feel like an immortal being or god viewing the earth millions of years ago and watching everything evolve.
Weed enhances this insight ten-fold👌. Speaking from present experience, and highly recommend (for the average adult).
Nice to see the ecosphere coming together! Great work as always.
Just made an ecosphere today, it somehow opened and leaked all in my bag lol

That snail filling its shell with air and floating to the surface is the cutest darn thing I’ve ever seen.
It's the first time that im seeing sth good happening to jars on the internet
cum jar ecosphere

the shots with the hydra, the clam, and the snail bothering the worm at the end were fantastic
amazing how there's a flatworm you don't recognize despite the fact that you seem to do this stuff all the time. my favorites are the copepods
I would imagine doing this long enough you might discover some unknown variant of something. Maybe you could name it lol
Wooaaw
This is so pretty, and relaxing!
I love the biodiversity inside this jar, and your videos of it are beautiful^^
Edit:
I knew all of the organism showed, except the last to worms, they looked like aliens :0
Keep it up, your content is amazing!
These videos are exactly what we need during these times. Thank you.
Just watching these videos as I wait for my water to clear! I’ve found a new hobby.
I giggled at the species that injects soil and flies it around from the other end! 😁😄 It's eight in the morning and I barely slept four hours. I love the little creature. I want a theme park full of them.
Everything about this comment is awesome we should be friends lol
I really liked the Naiadid Worms. They look very unique, and I like how they filter waste products and release soil balls.
I think the poop shooting worm is by far my favorite organism in this ecosphere...also, another great video...are you filming the organisms with the help of some short of super macro lens?
Life is incredible, how lucky we are. Bladder snails my favourite, Thanks for sharing 🌍✌️
I very much enjoy your video content, learning about these tiny creatures brings a smile to my face each time you post :)
My children and I made jar ecospheres for homeschool. We are enjoying studying them a few times a week and noticing new things each time!
The little snail nyooming up using the air bubble was the cutest thing! It made me smile 🥰
You need a Microscope! 🔬 I’m sure the microcosmos in these jars are amazing!
I appreciate how the placement of the flatworm's eyes makes it look like it has a long floppy snout.
Great timing! I just started a new seasonal pond ecosphere today. Thanks for the inspiration!
I love these videos. No loud ego mania going on and the music is so relaxing.
Puts everything in perspective.
I discovered your channel this evening & it’s now 1.28am! I’m hooked, completely. I have a huge houseplant collection, love gardening & love insects. These jar ecosystems seem like a natural progression into the microscopic universe that I love, so huge thanks for your amazing work.
The hydra vulgaris are my favourite & sent me off researching immediately. I’d no idea we had such organisms in the UK.
Living near Dorset flood plains, I hope to create such a world myself soon. You’ve another fan & subscriber!
Thank you for encouraging me to start my first sealed ecosystem, and my first step into this hobby. I made a sealed ecosystem with glowing algae the other day. I hope it lives. O_O
Update?
@@N0TE587 when these little bug things (I think they're shrimp) move at night, they leave a glowing blue trail behind them I captured some kind of sea grass and it grows in the river floor sandy substrate thing and I also caught this herbivore that I don't know the name of with a predator that I also don't know the name of.
lets get this guy to 100k
is cool to see a little life in a jar, 🤘🏻🇲🇽

What a rich variety of life in this jar! It's fascinating to watch all these little creatures. Thanks for your hard work and for sharing it with us.
8:43 is something straight out of my nightmares!
I’ve just found this channel and I am completely amazed and hooked! This is amazing what you’ve done! Thank you for your creations!
Damn. How the hell did i just watch every one of this channels videos. I gotta wake up in 4 hours.
Your vids are really cool! Keep up the good work.
Best jar channel in the game. Imitated but never duplicated.
Also I Love all plant and animal life, and am very impressed and inspired! Thank You for sharing!🙂
I'm so glad I found this channel Jartopia I watch these videos before I hit the hay for some reason it's relaxing. My favorite thing was that beetle larvae, I would like to see what that thing becomes. Just keep sending these jar videos please.. maybe it's because I liked bugs a lot when I was a kid.
As soon as I'll have my own house, I'll do 1 or 2 ecosphere as well, looks pretty cool !
I started watching these vids last week. The jar I ordered online came today
You are the master of the Ecospere building 🙌
Thanks for The Great content!
OK so just stumbled on this channel. First of all, OMG where has this been all my life! And also, someone is going to have to tell me more about that soil... regurgitating... worm thing! super cool man I could watch this stuff all day!
My cat loves your videos, they calm him down.
9:27 "I'm poopin' here pal"
I have a hard time going when somebody is standing behind me poking me in the back too
Life in all forms is just so beautiful
U R A genius
Ganimede the Ostapod was sickened by her role as a Ramhorn herder. She longed for adventures. One day, she stole a water suit from an Ostapod Leaper Guild member, and boarded their Leapship. She's ready to see what the other Jars had to offer.
Really enjoying these amazing videos! I have wetlands near me so very tempted to give this a try.
This is relaxing
You! Maker of Jartopia; are my favorite organism ;) 😘
Wow now I wanna start my own ecosystem!!!! Glad your channel made it to my recommendeds
My favorite organisms are the water mite, the fingernail clam and the star-a$$ed worms. Nature is marvelous.
Fascinating. I like all of creatures.
I absolutely love watching these videos and even inspiring me to make my own
That worm that spat out dirt in balls was probably my favorite organism in here. Everything about it is just so interesting.
I love these videos. I just started seeing some of those tiny snails in my planted aquarium. I'm about to start some kind of terrarium/aquarium in a large glass jar my mom gave me. I would love to do something like this.
Your channel is so awesome! Thanks for sharing this! & what an awesome idea! It’s so cool!
That was one funky flatworm
yay more
Light can make life such as the sun.
I like the life’s creation.
Awesome! Really want to make an ecosphere but dont know where to get started. U ever planning on making a guide?
He has a couple of videos on creating ecospheres. I know for sure there is a forest and wetlands one
this is insane!! how beautiful
Those filter worms are super cool
This man is basically god incarnate
He's creating whole worlds with two hands and some jars
he is enjoying life that God has created. And allowing us to enjoy also. Thanks!
well I had this weird thought that we (earth/universe) just might be a jar that had the lid put on it eons ago...
Ostracods are my favourite, they are just really cute and adorable in my opinion, the particular one that you showed bobbing from left to right was really cute, I know I’m weird but hey, I’m honest XD
You make really nice videos, please keep making it, you inspired me to make my own terrarium, and it worked!
I like that you don't speak in your videos and rather write instead. Makes it even better.
I hardly subscribe to channels. Even my favourite ones. I subscribed to yours
I was sort of hoping that buff little mite carrying the snail would make a second, more hulk-like appearance in the update
This is just insane. A completely different world like a parallel universe.
Outstanding update keep them coming!
So relaxing and full of knowledge
How do you take care of the ecospheres? I imagine you can’t put it on a windowsill. I’d like to do one with my boys and watch it over the course of a year.
Yeah you can just put it on a widowsil but only let it get a little bit of light enough to illuminate it but not enough to warm it
Depending on the ecosphere, I've had better luck with a cheap but bright LED desk lamp then a window. My ecospher has been going for about a month and a half, and I only had to intervene today (moss failure)
Amazing, my favorite is the last worm
snails are always my favourite! (-:
My favorite part is 0:00 to 10:54
Could you make a tutorial? Thanks and love your videos!
I love your videos!!! 💕
So relaxing 😌
Im just amazed!
Thanks for your work and congratulations!
Where are you from.?
You've got yourself a new subscriber!
My favorite species are the dirt pooping worms
bro i love these videos and it's a shame i can't do the same because i don't know where to find seaweed if i live in a building.
Yayyy a new vid
Interesting work.
Had a giant water bug hitch a ride on my boot after walking through the river I think your in the uk right? Watch out friend 😂
You're for real
Reign Dylan google one they’re worse than you think😂
I like the snails. I had 2 as pets once, time ago.
Hi from Turkey
This is pretty interesting
It's annoying the water mite is so flighty because he's super beautiful
great vid really enjoyed it. music was a good match...peace out
that larve @ 8:55 is going to be a beatle.. yellow line around its schield.. i only know the dutch name for it.. it punctures snails and sucks them empty like a spider..
How would one go about learning all these types of organisms and such? I think it’s really cool and I’ve been wanting to learn
this is so cool, dude....
Inspired by your video my kid as for a Ecosphere, we dig in a near pond, and after a week it's still low of "life" a lot of Cyclops , some algae growing , two Nematode spotted and no more.
How much i have to wait to have an indication that the thing are going well?
I wonder what would happen if you add some land organisms on the top of the Algae
Here a tip for you, not all terrestrial moss is the same, if you select moss that's growing in shaded conditions you will find it will actually produce more oxygen with far less light exposure than most aquatic plants. Moss that grows in shaded conditions has evolved to be far more efficient at utilising light.. In life Its not what you see that matters, its HOW you see. KMT
