    Have this issue on my X5 M. Basically at one point I was playing with the audio system and I found the driver side did not have bass. I knew the subwoofer was shot. Just a day ago, randomly bass cut off entirely in the middle of a song. It looks like the passenger subwoofer was operating and it also had died. This confirms my suspicions as both subwoofers have severed wiring. Thank you for this video, hopefully it serves the E and F chassis community well!!

    thats an individual amp. the speakers it comes with are higher impedance so it could affect the subs etc

    Appreciate the video, thanks. I would like to know if the wire could be soldered back or is replacing the subwoofer(s) inevitable?

      @@ericvasania I have been asked this question a few times and I feel that anything is possible, but it’s going to be a pain as there is not much space to work with. Not only do you need to solder the wire, you also should lengthen the cables to prevent the issue from recurring. People say they were going to try to do it and report back but nobody has yet!

    This just happened to my e92 m3 today, I had bass all morning then randomly noticed how flat my music was when I started it back up. I have the enhanced premium audio both went out at the same time I have no idea what to do super frustrating. How can I check if my amp is good should I just go to the dealer

    • @dariusGarage
      @dariusGarage  Рік тому +1

      Check the subwoofer’s first! Remove the 4 bolts that hold your seat down, remove the plastic cover that covers the subwoofers (6 screws), remove the subwoofers (2 bolts for enclosure… take subwoofer out of enclosure) and check the cable if it’s torn like this e92 had. Replace subwoofers if they have torn cables. Much easier to check this for a DIYer than your amp! Check for blown out fuses as well. If all else fails yes take it to the dealer as a last resort.

    I been having no bass in my 2011 335i with harman kardon for about a year now, it comes and goes sometimes it will come back the next day sometimes it will take months to come back. Recently I noticed when I do have bass the amp fan will be blowing hard, however when I have no bass the amp fan will be off and the amp will be super hot. Should I just forget taking it for a diagnosis and go straight for replacing the amp or could it be a fuse or wiring problem ?

    • @dariusGarage
      @dariusGarage  Рік тому

      This is the whole point of this video! Check your subwoofer cables first :)
      My cousin went straight to assuming the amp was bad and wasted a ton of money!
      I doubt it’s a fuse as it would never come back. It sounds like the subwoofer cable might be making contact where it should from time to time for it to work, and then once it does it gets pushed away again causing no bass.

      @@dariusGarage nah brother I checked the subs as well all the cables are in place and the subs seem fine. Just yesterday I got a new problem where the sound wont go all the way up it’s like capped at 50% volume but strangely the gong can be heard at full volume. Man these cars are so annoying sometimes lol thanks for the reply though bro

      @@The252000 That’s different than our situation then… if you have someone (or a shop) close by you with a high end scanner that can scan sound system codes I’d recommend you get them to check for any electrical fault codes. Sometimes on the E9X chassis cars, water leaks cause amps to go bad so I wouldn’t be surprised if the amp is defective in your case… however it’s always recommended to confirm a part is defective before replacing it outright!

    My right subwoofer and front right speaker are off, but the back speaker works. Is it to do with amplifier or replace woofer and speaker? e93 2008 thanks

    • @dariusGarage
      @dariusGarage  11 місяців тому

      It could be either or, it varies from case to case. Its not uncommon for the door mounted speakers to fail and subwoofers to fail as well, and considering that it’s only one side it’s likely at least part of the problem. You have some taking apart to do :)

    Is it just bmw I have the same brand speakers for my Kia but recently my girls bmw 330i 2020 bass stopped working

    • @dariusGarage
      @dariusGarage  9 місяців тому

      I haven’t worked on KIA so I can’t comment with any level of certainty, but I’d wager that they’re not the same parts. Whether or not they’ll have the same issues that’s a different story that only time can tell. The 2020 330i uses different subwoofers compared to the 2011 335is and many other older BMWs that share the same speakers up to around the 2016-2018 model year, so I’m not sure if the same issue will apply to the 330i, but it’s definitely worth looking at as they are often ignored during diagnosis and easy to diagnose. Please let us know what you find!

    What’s was the sos error for ?

    • @dariusGarage
      @dariusGarage  9 місяців тому

      SOS function is a 10 year service (subscription) from BMW, if you don't renew at a dealer then you don't get those features, the car throws an error light to let you know. At least that's what I've been told. From what I hear you can get it fixed by renewing your subscription or just code out that function from your car altogether with Bimmercode.

    if you want subwoofers i would remove those as they are tear weight and get a real sound system. my 1994 ford laser has 650watts 6x9 a 8 farad capacitor and a 12inch JVC on a 3800 watt amp. so loud that if i parked next to you while you were listening to your sounds all you would feel are mine. im getting a 2010 320i bmd later this week so im planning to upgrade it. i drive a lot and need to get to places on time and my sounds move slower drivers out of my way... or they vibe.
