BMW NO Audio/Radio FIX! A Very Simple $10 Part
Вставка
- Опубліковано 23 вер 2024
- My 2007 BMW 335i radio stopped working so here is a very simple fix to get it working again by only spending $10. This optical loop bypass is very easy to install. It originally didn't fit on my car so I had to modify it by cutting off the housing to expose the two plugs.
Amazon states that it fits on all German cars.. BMW, Audi, Porsche, VW, etc.. but that's a total lie. But you can still make it work. The
module is located in the trunk underneath the carpet. Just lift it up and you'll see it. Remove the plug going to the module and attach
this piece. That's all there is to it! Very simple fix. If you need help, please leave me a comment and I'll see what I can do.

What a strange fix. I’m not a car guy. That was very interesting. About ten years ago the engine light came on my truck. Went to the dealership to see what was the issue. I had a small child at the time, didn’t need a breakdown with her in the car.
4 hours later, the dealership technician informed me the issue can be fixed in two days, $1,576 US dollars. To me: the money was not a big issue, the safety of my child and passengers were the issue. Not to mention a two day car rental. On my way home, stopped for gas. An employee at the dealership came up to me and said. (I had seen her at the the dealership). She said the fix was very simple. She walked me thru the process. It was a pug and play part. Went to auto part store. The part was $65 dollars and I was able to fix in 20 minutes. Sometimes dealership are as croaked as they come.
By the way the girl at the dealership. I married her two kids later. I’m still not allowed to take car to dealerships. Haha, I guess it worked out in the end.
perfect choice for life ... good luck
Great story, does she have a sister? Continued success and many more blessings unto you sir.
Maaaan what a coincidence. I had that Sweet Leaf stuck in my head the past two days and that’s the song that comes on when you get the radio to work again!
I have a 2007 335i manual that lost radio audio, but had no other symptoms or indicator lights. This fixed it right up. Thanks man!
Show Me What You Got so you didn’t have the sos symbol?
I have no power to any of the fiber Optic wires going to the back or amp or sat? What could it be
Did you bypass the module or the amp ,
Mechanic tells me I need the Amp and needs to be programmed $1400 is that right
@@luiscosta19123456 I took the module out of the circuit with the bypass. I bought the part in his description that required no modification. I'd try this first before forking over 1400. The part is cheap.
What’s the wire called?
All of these other videos with so many views and you explained it best, thank you
You’re welcome 👍🏻 I hope this helped you
What’s the wire called?
Worked perfectly with the precut piece , effortless plug in play . This shit was haunting me for 3 months
I know the feeling.. glad it worked for you 👍🏻
What kind of bmw do you have?
Worked perfectly and radio and now voice module works 100% THANK YOU SO MUCH BRO
Awesome! Glad to hear 👍🏻
How do you use this loop do I leave a connected for do I disconnected and pluck everything back in
What's the pice called
Thanks Truly!
I and my husband just fixed this issue about 2 hours ago (6/30/24)in my 2008 BMW 335i.
It sounds like new.
😊
I had a same audio problem with my 2011 3 series, I fixed the sound problem by disconnected the battery, waited for 5 minutes and reconnected the battery, that's works for me, hope this help .
hmm
Did your car have this crackling sound with no bass and if so how exactly did you fix it
martinhd288 Did your car have this crackling sound with no bass and if so how exactly did you fix it
Zech Loftin did you manage to fix your issue? If so, what was the solution? I recently got the same, crackling sound, very quiet almost no volume, no bass at all.
thank you sir! unplug, plug in the battery solved the issue! Mine is 2012 x3
I’m having the same issue and I believe I have pinpointed it to a bad amplifier which I believe is what that optical wire gets connected to. What I’m wondering is what the repercussions are for not having it connected?
Great video! Did a great job being concise and solving the problem! My only criticism is why take the time to make this video and help people and not simply SAY WHAT THE PART IS CALLED?? Everyone has to go search thru comments and find your reply which took longer than watching the video.
The product link is in the description if you look there. I guess I should have made that more clear. Sorry about that
NICE!! MY 335I just did the same thing. Going to try this!! Thanks!!
Cool I hope it works for you 👍🏻 let me know
What perfect timing with the radio coming back to life with a the coughing from Black Sabbath's Sweet Leaf. I'm going to try this out. We do not see the SOS warning though so it may not apply. The dealership said they coudn't find anything, go figure.
I have the same problem (1st gen e90), no gong/pdc/music the display and idrive seems to be working but no sound. did you get it fixed?
@@gchavgo9968 Did you?
@@descendingz6017 yes, in my case it was the ground (brown) cable in the trunk, inside the rubber trunk lid. Cut the rubber trunk lid open and inspect. After reconnecting the brown cable everything worked again.
Omg thank you very much I had a Bluetooth stereo too lol 😂 but mine just suddenly started working on it’s own,but if it breaks again I now know what to do 👍👍👍x
Greetings directly from Brazil my friend. Your tip was excellent and it worked perfectly for me. Thank you very much
Name of the part
Hello , thanks for that video, I’m having the same problem, what’s the name of that wire piece? Thank you
???wow Many senior automotive mostly uses in media oriented systems transport system, and because the system module is the series connection in the maintenance process when a failure occurs from a module of the media oriented systems transport, it may cause the whole system does not work, in this case, you can replace the module in series connection in the loop to determine and confirm working condition.
Usage:
If you meet the faults of audio CD and navigation systems, audio CDs don't work, navigation is often broken and always blank screen, it may be caused damage to the telephone module.
The modules connected on a vehicle media oriented systems transport ring include: CD Changer, Video Display, GPS Navigation, Mobile Phone, Bluetooth, Voice Recognition, Amplifier and Digital/FM/AM Tuner.
If you wish to remove one of these modules from the fiber optic ring for repair or fault diagnosis you will require this connector/adaptor and fiber optic bypass loop cable to close the media oriented systems transport ring and maintain the integrity of the remaining modules on the ring.

I'm having the same problem with my BMW with the radio do you know the name of that part
@@starbob9805 art
I really enjoyed the sabbath when u turned it back on, u should’ve let that play out
Thanks for posting this video- truly grateful sir. I purchased this item from Amazon based on your recommendation and it worked!
can you tell me how to search amazon, what is to buy, thanks
What piece is it I need it
Thank you our 330 I is doing this now
Just unplugged the cable but like your one there was no red light in the plug what you think could be
Did you figure out what it was ? Mine is the same
Yea mine doesn’t have a red light either
I have that SOS light but my radio doesn’t even turn on, there are no chimes for the seatbelt, starting the car, low gas, etc. I’ve checked my fuses and they all look fine. I really want to solve this issue. Bmw quoted me over 600$ to get it fixed😭🤦🏽♂️
did you find a answer?
I know this was like 2 years ago but I am having the same issues now, what did you do to fix?
I replaced my radio head unit completely
Found one on eBay for pretty cheap, looked at the model number from the previous one in my car and bought the same on eBay. After I installed it everything worked fine
Thank you for the video I just ordered one and put it on and it works thanks
Wats the name of the piece
Hi was your audio for seatbelt, sensors, and door chime gone also?
Did you figure yours out?
I have the same problem but I do not have the SOS light, do you think this could still be my problem? please help me man
*_My Girlfriend's grandfathers BMW has this problem. I'm going to try this tomorrow and see how it goes!_*
What is the part called?
*_Part is listed in the description_*
Comunity saving cash when major corporations rip you off! Fantastic!
Is that the fiber optic audio line that's just getting bypassed by looping it into itself
Thank you,worked like a champ.
😀
Glad to hear 👍🏻
What, exactly, does this bypass? What won't work after I plug this in?
After you do that, does the navigation system still work?
so your amp failed which means you’re bypassing it. check all speakers some may not be getting power. as well you could end up overloading the bridge and burning it out sooner than later
I just removed all the fuses connected to the radio control to make sure they weren't blown. All good. I guess it reset the radio cuz its working, for now. 😉 2016 428i
I have 2016 435i and have the same problem right now. I dont even know where to start
Thanks I ordered the part! Hope its the right one because I ordered one from before but it was the wrong size
@greed6814 pls tell me
Tried this on my 2008 550i and didn’t seem to work. please help
I got the same car and got that little part And it works and i didn’t have to cut the plastic around it, but whenever I shut off the car it stops working. Is that how yours is also? I have to put it on every drive cycle? Also sometimes it doesn’t work it’s so annoying.
Good news matey I just finished lathing the Graphite coin molds and they came out bloody great I’ll send em your way probably Monday or Tuesday afternoon with some other goods as I have to go to post office early this week.
Also what do you do for a living? I’m a plant operator 🤨
Oh that’s awesome I can’t wait! I’m a bartender/restaurant manager for a local tavern
What the name of part? Plz
Will this work for a 08 BMW X5 my stereo turns on but just make any sound
Thank you. Good video. Is this the same for most BMW's around this era? Common problem among different models of the era? THanks
thanks for uploading this video I know when you take a BMW for issues like this they always want to rip you off. Can you please tell me what is the part name so I can order it. thanks again!
I need it too
Wait, what was the box doing then? You closed the circuit with that loop thingy and audio works?
I have a steady red and yellow light on the bottom of the amp, which means my amp is good but still no sound!!
what if there is no red light ?
So I’m the trunk of the E90 you have on the left the module that connects to the phone or satilite? But what is the other big module thing on the right in the trunk? My car is missing both I have neither of the modules that go in the trunk, and my radio has no sound the knob on the radio does nothing, and I don’t have the sos light on the dash, Thanks.
Tried it and still had no sound. Light was blinking red so it had power. Anything I can possibly be doing wrong?
Thank you so much OP!
This saved me so much money and time. Thank you so much. It worked perfectly and only took about 5mins to install 😃
What part is it, I'm having the exact same problem
@@m6roddbankkingfishing136 bro i have the same problem, do u know what this thing is now?
you're are so awesome !!! Thanks for the help, it also worked for me. Thank you so much!
Same thing happened to my 2013 650I. I bought the piece but cant find which module is bad. I tried the radio, the combox and it didn't work.
Did you figure it out?
@@beastybiggy3642Yes, I had to recode the radio. Using a windows laptop and the bmw code. Are you having issues?
@@Seekimo yes I am after I left my 2011 335D sitting for a few months the audio randomly stopped working, I believe I might have the same issue that you did and all the fiber optics wires are working. Any help would be appreciated!
@@Seekimo where did you find out how to code the radio? I’ve tried everything I think this is worth a shot
I pray this will work on my 440i… because a new head unit or amp is going to cost way too much 😨
Thanks so much. I just sucscribed and look forward to checking out your art. Cheers
blaster seven I’m tryin to get this piece ?
Okay so my car was working fine after the aftermarket stereo and then one day it randomly crackled and beeped and stopped working😭 would this work for my car as wellv
I had same problem but as soon as I installed that it works perfectly fine
What was the part name
I installed this gadget 2 years ago. same symptoms of no radio sound is back, pain in the neck. do this plugs go bad?
Are they just a bypass, is it a fusible link?
thank you for the video
When you say no audio, do you mean youcan't hear the annoying seatbelt reminder beeping?
So, im not defending dealerships. I work for an independent shop. Most likely its not a wiring issue, but im not sure how you can just go about saying its a lie? How do you know? If you dont know the problem, you cant claim its a lie...
I see wiring problems all the time. More times than not it is a module on these cars, but wiring is a factor i hate to tell ya
You face the problem of not getting out the sound of car bmw328i model 2012
Where is the plug you're changing? In the floor of the trunk? I can't see what you're doing. Please explain better.
Thank you that was pretty informative. I have same bmw as yours. 2007 coupe. My problem is I cannot make the phone/bluetooth work. Not sure if u have video on this. I am new here. But if you have any advise, that would be great!
The bybass did help me and a lot of others but it depends on what is actually wrong. BMW uses a looped fiber optics that ties into everything so you have to try the bypass on which is actually bad. Hope that helps you a little
Ive got a 328i with no sounds and it doesn’t have an amp in the trunk. The wiring is there and its all wrapped up from the factory, it never had one.
The jumper doesn’t change anything on mine.
Worked perfectly, thank you!
Good to hear 👍🏻 glad it worked for you :)
@@ArtByAdrock Do I need the male or the female part?
Thank you kindly for this
It's not working for me I tried the amp as well and nothing, as for the satellite box I'm not getting that red light in it as if it had no power? Any suggestions? Thanks in advance
The amp could be completly dead and needs to be replaced
@@ArtByAdrock but I'm still getting the sos message could that's still be it? Thanks for the advise
That I’m not sure. You could try unplugging each one at a time and see what works and what doesn’t
Alright thanks man
What does Square box exactly do? Just create phone service for a car phone? Or is there an actual purpose for it? Jw I'm in the same boat.
Can you post a link to Amazon? I don’t know what it’s called to buy the piece
Worked for my 2008 BMW 335i. Thanks!
On mine the radio doesnt even light up displaying the different radio stations, however still ejects the CD? You reckon this will solve the problem?
Hi , I got the same problem with my BMW 520d mSport 2013. I bought that part and did what you did. It now blowing fuse anymore but there is still no sound. What could that be ?
So on this particular BMW, there are two plugs. one on the r
front top device and one on the back bottom of the device. there no fan of any sort like in this video........do I buy two of the loop things because one does not work for either of the plugs. I suppose if I got two of them and unplugged them both and capped them with the loop thing, it may work????
What was the part that you ordered on Amazon? That was not clear from the video
what is the name of this cable and where can i buy it sometimes it makes noise sometimes it doesn't work
What if there no red light or any light coming from satellite before you put bypass on ??
I wonder would it work for all 3 series
I’ve got the same issue but can’t make bluetooth phone calls either. Not seeing anyone else mention that. Wondering if this will fix both issues?
Would using a fm transmitter work too instead of fixing it if radio works and want to use aux?
DOES THIS "WILL THIS WORK" WITH I-DRIVE SYTEM ALSO?!?
I’ve had this same problem and I can’t figure it out. I’ve bypassed the same thing that you did and I get the red light at the connection under the dash so the loop is complete but it still isn’t working for me. What else could it be?
2011 328i, the screen backlight comes on but theres no letters or numbers. It has come back on before but it has since went back off. Now the backlight comes on then goes completely off about 30 seconds after the car is started. Would this part fix that?
After you use the loop.. do you disconnect the loop plug everything back in??
What if you don’t have the satellite unit in your car like in the one where you connected to? Is that a tell sign why it doesn’t work? Connecting that piece , will male it work I’m assuming? Also, I don’t see any of those connections little red light turn on, do I have to have my key on? Thanks bud 🙏🏽
I am a mechanic and you could just use a jumper wire it works too
*_This is the most amazing car hack I've seen so far_*
Would this work in my 2005 e60? My sound keeps cutting out and I drive freezes! If I get optical loop what should I connect it to? Thanks
Did you solve the problem?
Hi, Thanks for the video.Just bought a 2008 335 E92 without any audio from the Car, after watching your video 2 days ago, I bought the bypass optical loop from Canada Amazon and I've received it today. Tried it in my Car and NO sound still, but the SOS light is gone and I can connect my phone to the Car Bluetooth (of which I do not know if the car has bluetooth before). Please where do you think I missed it? Or is Canadian optical loop different from the States? please advise.
Ematech Resources LTD did u figure it out ?
Hey bro my radio doesnt even light up. You reckon this will solve my problem aswell? Checked the fuse apparently they all fine
Have you fixed that other light that came on? The one for the lights?
Is it possible to need more then one bypass I’ve had my car for 10 months now WITH NO SOUND ! I bought 2 bypasses and nothing
You have a faulty Nav module...All you did was bypass it with the Fiber Optic test tool. As that tool is to test which module is bad. As the way BMW work. The fiber Optic line is used to monitor the system to all the modules. If a modules goes bad anywhere in the system You will lose the function of everything past that fault...
You start at the one in the Glove Box. Then work you way back....
Good job man,,,you kno how to do a video to help others wow,,,,,however i have 650 i convertible 2006 model,,the radio come on and off including that bip pong pong pong on and off,,what might be the problem brother,,,,,,,,,from South Africa
What about the auxiliary? My radio works but my aux does not. I bought the aux piece and still nothing I have a 2008 128i bmw...
Thank you for this video.! Mines been like this for a yr now. just bought the piece cant wait to see if it works 🙏
You’re welcome 👍🏻 hopefully it works out for you
