Great lecture. As a family carer of an adult with complex needs etc. Getting us both ready for a hospital visit I was multi tasking but will return to this.

My bf of 5yrs was just clinically diagnosed with Huntington's. I knew it ran on his father's side and being the one with him all the time, I began to notice his symptoms becoming prominent and pushed him to get tested. We find out how many repeats are present this Friday. He's a low voltage contractor and has no business being on a ladder as he's fallen off 3 times. He also forgets a LOT. Even major things like the court date for his daughters custody hearing. We live in a small town and the rumors of him being on drugs have been circulating for a couple years now. In reality, he can no longer work in his profession and is currently attempting handy man work here and there as he's the sole provider since my major back injury. We've since lost our apartment and had to buy an RV to live in. We struggle to pay the $575 required rent for the location we have. Two years ago, we were both working and living in our dream home in the best neighborhood with the option to buy. He slipped into a depression for a couple years and just didn't work anymore. My single income just wasn't enough and we lost everything we worked so hard for so long for. Our next step is disability. If he ever remembers to complete the application online 😒. From my prospective, it's becoming very difficult to remain involved with him as he consistently chooses other things and people over me, yet I have and continue to do everything for him. But he snaps at me unprovoked. Is there anything I can do to help him? To help us?

Get a case manager/sw. A case manager can help him get that disability form filled out. Consider a disability lawyer.

Have you consulted your county mental health services? In the US, that can help you really get the disability ball rolling and get you a case manager.
