When my husband was diagnosed with throat cancer he was in his early thirties. During the middle of his treatment it appeared the cancer was progressing. It was a terrifying and painful time. In a few weeks he will be celebrating his 75 birthday. No matter what set backs you have, don’t get discouraged. We got angry a lot and we also used a lot of sick humor. In 2005 I was diagnosed with late stage 3 colon cancer. I had a resection and they discovered 20 lymph nodes involved. I was 58. They gave me a 40% chance of survival. I went thru Chemo, which was awful. I will definitely keep you in my prayers. You CAN do this. Cancer is not the death sentence it once was. Hang in there Keith. Three time survivor here. At first your life is “all about” cancer, then it becomes “living with” cancer, then you go on to continue living the best life you can. I was keto when first diagnosed but treatment messed with that in a big way and still trying to get back there. My PET scan preps always included “no caffeine”.

It could have been longer had he looked after himself, but he wasn't interested. I have a question... when someone who's on KETO /LOCARB for a while decides to go off KETO/LOCARB will their sugar spike higher than the average person who's NEVER BEEN on a KETO DIET? If so, is it because their bodies have been so used to not eating carbs that any carbs they do consume to their diet will spike it higher than someone who's never been on KETO before? I am shocked by the carb counts! In 2006 I was a gestational diabetic. ( I did not fit the profile though) 5’2 108 lbs. I was allowed 15 net carbs for breakfast, 45 for lunch and 60 for dinner!!! Gained 19lbs and had a perfect term 7.0 pound baby. The pregnancy was a look into a crystal ball that said Type 2 diabetes can be in the future if you don’t eat properly. Here I am 50 yrs old still practicing my low carb diet. Not on holidays though!
Sending healing thoughts I recently had a PET/CT for recurrent Follicular Thyroid Cancer 12 years after Totl Thyroidectomy/RAIAblation for same. ( Am doing ok so far.) Just wanted to mention that at PET scan they simply wanted a current blood glucose per fingerstick of less than 200! Still doesn't inspire confidence given " low carb" instructions that you describe. Am hesitant to return to PCP due to concerns about similar discussion around cholesterol issues.
My Primary care MD in CT was clueless about proper nutrition. Tried to get a baseline CAC scan and he refused to authorize it. He also tried to get me to attend his wife's diabetes clinic. So I just got a blood screen. Prior to Keto, triglycerides -350, HGLs -45.. 18 months into keto triglyerides -45, HGLs 95. The guy was an idiot.

They removed half my lung and it spread to my lymph nodes and I needed 4 months of chemo. I wasn't allowed to eat keto during chemo which sucked! My thoughts exactly. And actually i'd go to zero carb....which i was for a while but had to add in potatoes because I was losing too much weight.
Unfortunately this is not a true claim. Glucose does not feed every cancer, though it is a good source for most kinds.

In the last year I've lost 60 pounds on keto and am now a normal weight. My doctor is obese. So far he hasn't broached the subject. I wish he would.

Three time survivor here. At first your life is “all about” cancer, then it becomes “living with” cancer, then you go on to continue living the best life you can. I was keto when first diagnosed but treatment messed with that in a big way and still trying to get back there. My PET scan preps always included “no caffeine”.

I be following your channels for sometime and love it! A year ago I was getting chemo and radiation for bladder cancer. I used Keto and fasting during treatments and believe it really helped with not having any real bad side effects. Other than hair loss and felling-tired. You must stay positive!! My cardiologist believes in Low Fat diet with salt retention, could not get my cholesterol down but eating Keto I have at least got it down enough to please Him.

I have a question... when someone who's on KETO /LOCARB for a while decides to go off KETO/LOCARB will their sugar spike higher than the average person who's NEVER BEEN on a KETO DIET? If so, is it because their bodies have been so used to not eating carbs that any carbs they do consume to their diet will spike it higher than someone who's never been on KETO before? And again if the answer is yes, will it ever balance out where you don't get those crazy spikes? Thank you for your response. Loving your channel.

I am shocked by the carb counts! In 2006 I was a gestational diabetic. ( I did not fit the profile though) 5’2 108 lbs. I was allowed 15 net carbs for breakfast, 45 for lunch and 60 for dinner!!! Gained 19lbs and had a perfect term 7.0 pound baby. The pregnancy was a look into a crystal ball that said Type 2 diabetes can be in the future if you don’t eat properly. Here I am 50 yrs old still practicing my low carb diet. Not on holidays though!

I recently had a PET/CT for recurrent
Follicular Thyroid Cancer 12 years
after Totl Thyroidectomy/RAIAblation for same. ( Am doing ok so far.) Just wanted to mention that
at PET scan they simply wanted a current blood glucose per fingerstick
of less than 200! Still doesn't inspire
confidence given " low carb" instructions that you describe.
Am hesitant to return to PCP
due to concerns about similar discussion around cholesterol
issues.
My Primary care MD in CT was clueless about proper nutrition. Tried to get a baseline CAC scan and he refused to authorize it. He also tried to get me to attend his wife's diabetes clinic. So I just got a blood screen. Prior to Keto, triglycerides -350, HGLs -45.. 18 months into keto triglyerides -45, HGLs 95. The guy was an idiot.

I'm so sorry to hear this..I knew when you said you had a P.E.T. scan. I had one last year because I had lung cancer. They removed half my lung and it spread to my lymph nodes and I needed 4 months of chemo. I wasn't allowed to eat keto during chemo which sucked! HAHA....But I'm here 11 months later and I'm cancer free. May Jesus cover you in His blood and remove all cancer in your body, Amen. Love you guys! Keep looking up! God bless.
