@Roderick storey What are you on about? He's 90 now but still kicking! Don't know why people always come up with fake deaths of real people, I think that's really shameful behavior. I hope it was just an honest mistake on your part.
“His first day was on location with Kylie Minogue, but all eyes, even Kylie’s, were on Bernard. He’d turned up with a suitcase full of props, just in case, including a rubber chicken. A legend has left the world.” - Russell T. Davies BERNARD JOSEPH CRIBBINS, OBE (29th December 1928-28th July 2022)
“You never killed a man.” “...don’t say that like it’s shameful!” Honestly, one of my favorite lines from Wilf. Wish he could’ve been one of the Doctor’s companions.
He has been a companion- he played Tom Campbell in one of Peter Cushing’s Dr. Who movie remakes: Dalek Invasion of Earth - 2150 in 1966; different continuity universe, but still.
Well because the Character (Shown a bit by Donna's illusion world) and by Ten's last episode. He was in the military (Though he never killed a man, that little fact seemed to be based on the actual actors experience as well) so his Marksmanship makes sense.
Yeah, I hated that he didn't have enough screen time. It might have cheapened his character, I don't know, but we could have had a whole series of Wilfred and Doctor adventures. That'd be cool.
If you ever get round to it read A writers tale by Russel T Davies... he wasn't suppose to Wilf at all. It was supposed to be her dad. Unfortunately the man who played him got Cancer and died before his part was half finished. So Wilf became grandad. They re-did all the bits they had filmed but made him talked about so he wasn't forgotten. The Lottery ticket bit was put in to memorise the dad.. providing for his family before he died. I think it was well handled and a nice tip of the hat.
Wilfred Mott is *the best* companion (he's travelled in the TARDIS, he counts as a companion) in Doctor Who, and I will shout it from the rooftops. "Dad, take those things off!" "No I shan't, it's Christmas."
I agree and he should return. I don't know there's just something about Wilf that makes him seem like a character that'd return in a future season unlike the others. I could see him looking at the Doctor going, "You're a bloomin' woman- how that heck did ya' manage that then?"
Yes he is. It just goes to show, you don't have to be young to enjoy life. You don't have to be young to see the wonder in things still. You don't have to lose your sense of wonder and excitement as you age. Don't let the world tell you otherwise.
Not just that, I also always admired that he never got jealous of Donna being able to go out and explore space like he'd always dreamt of. He never tried to muscle in or stop her or be bitter about it. He was overwhelmingly happy for her and proud of her, only said "just remember to bring a bit of them [the stars] back for your old gramps"
"I did my duty (in Palestine after WW2)." "You never killed a man." "No, I didn't. No, I-I-I did not, no but... *don't say that like it's shameful!*" And the best part is it's true of both Wilfred *and* Bernard. Rest in Power, old soldier. 🫡🥲
@@darkbum1510 I like Capaldi but I can't watch his era just because of the atrocious writing, kinda have to feel sorry for him. Bernard brought such a beautiful energy to Wilfred Mott. A charming old man, so full of love and loyalty. An old soldier who's seen dark things. A man who's loved and lost and loved again. And all the while Wilf could make you laugh at the drop of a hat. Despite appearing in only a handful of episodes, he'd make my top ten companions list every time.

The Doctor: *I ' M G O I N G T O D I E*
Wilfred: Well so am I, one day.
The Doctor: *D O N ' T Y O U D A R E*
I agree with the doctor
One of, if not, the best characters in nearly 60 years of Dr who
MY FAVOURITE DOCTOR WHO CHARACTER holy shit I love you for making this
"Don't say that like it's shameful"
God I love him so much. A very supportive granddad who had to witness the horrors of war yet never shot a man.
RIP Bernard Cribbins
Wilf was the kind of man that I am genuinely sad I will never be able to meet, RIP Wilfred Mott
What about his trembling salutes??
Holy shit yes!
Indeed.
Oh absolutely
That last salute made me cry 😔
That's the moment I started crying in the episode.
Doctor: I'm going
Wilfred: yeah me too
Silva: oh no you don't
Doctor: you can't come with me
Wilfred: well you're not leaving me with her
Silva: Dad
Doctor: Fair enough
I always loved the farther-son relationship they had
I just want to point out 2:42. Wilf makes a tactical assessment just like that. *finger snap*. Most people, upon seeing aliens, would freeze up, right? Not Wilfred Mott.
“Oh, they only look out of one eyestalk? Hold up, let me get my sh-t. We’re taking back London!”
On top of THAT…hits the target in one shot. Had that been a proper weapon, that Dalek would’ve been taken out.
RIP legend
“I’m an old man Doctor.. I’ve had my time”
Nobody:
Not even god:
Not a single soul:
Literally no one:
Wilfred: *ITS THEM ALIENS I BET MY PENSION*
D: You can't go with me!
W: Well, you ain't leaving me with her!
D: Fair enough!
I love Wilfred with my entire heart
His character is brilliant and Im so happy he could reprise Wilf for the last time in the 60th ❤️
3:50 "I'm going to die"
Well sir, me one day.
"Don't you dare"
He talk for all of us.
Doctor: im going to die
Wilfred: well so am i one day
Doctor: UM NO YOU A R E N O T YOU BEAUTIFUL OLD MAN
