  • Is market manipulation real? Why the heck is Piglet's Big Game so expensive??? Can't I just blame high prices on Wata? And what about money laundering??????

    Mercari comments are great because some expensive game listings are actual scams, using old photos from sold or active ebay listings. Ive seen comments saying a seller is using their pics from their copy they sold on ebay. Ive also seen comments pointing out that a listing for 1k on mercari was still listed for 5k olon ebay or recently sold for a few thousand on ebay from very highly rated sellers, meanwhile the mercari listings are zero rating sellers. It can be easy to spot once you learn how but still helpful.

      @@viridionwaves good point! I’ve certainly seen some helpful comments when a cheap, fake listing pops up for Disney Basketball on GameCube. As with everything on the internet, it can be used as a helpful tool, or abused for toxicity

    One huge problem with pricecharting is it doesnt accurately record best offers. I've seen several games that looked like they had pretty high/highest ever sales, but they were best offers. After 90 days, theres no way to confirm that unless terapeak tells you, and most people arent double checking terapeak if it even includes that info. Than sellers think thats a legit comp, when it likely sold far below that. Ive actually seen sellers on different platforms reference pricecharting sales that were best offers and either didnt know or didnt disckose they were best offer accepted.

      @@viridionwaves very fascinating. I need to utilize terapeaks. Or better yet we need eBay to make their own price tracking tool!

    I dont think the Piglets Big Game situation is market manipulation because from what I can tell it wasn’t deliberate. Seems like the FOMO organically manifested itself.
    A good example of price fixing right now is property management companies using software to not lease apartments to tenants below a certain price (and thankfully some of them are starting to face legal action)
    Agree on the $50 price point I’ll guess that cib is $40-50 a year from now

      Agreed. Not deliberate, the twitter users didn’t profit from this game skyrocketing. Hope that was the point we got across in the video! We definitely called out the $300+ sale as potential market manipulation
      What do you mean by “below a certain price”?
      Thanks for watching, my guy

      its a children's game from 2003 that sold thousands of copies and it shouldn't be that high. Collecting video games should be affordable for non rare titles, its not like anyone's gonna play it more than once if ever once.

    • @birddoggaming
      @birddoggaming  2 місяці тому

      @@bondfish We can be subjective all day about what "should" be cheap, but supply & demand decides it. Pokemon Emerald printed far more copies than Piglet's Big Game on both platforms combined, and yet it still fetches hundreds of dollars for a loose cart!
