As the WEF said about the common working man, "you will own nothing, and be happy", only the rich and elites get to enjoy good art and anything that increases the quality of a man's life, you work your whole life for something your passionate about, and the poor sods end up having to get rid of it all because they need the cash, shouldn't be that way, you're supposed to enjoy and pass it on to the kids, that's why it's called an investment.
Came to the same conclusion myself recently and sold my 'retro' games and consoles. Felt good knowing someone else might enjoy using them and I'm putting the money towards a new gaming PC. Well done to you for making this decision, my dad spent a lot of time at weekend working extra to make sure we had a comfortable life. We lost him at 55 and I wish he would have spent more time relaxing at the weekend.
You the man Wayne, sorry to see the collection get thinned out but its for all the right reasons. I hope you manage to get to where you need to be and get the freedom to be with the family. I'll always be kicking around so I'll see you on the next one 👊🏻
We shouldn’t be too far away from eBay? I’ve used CEX and eBay as a base price and adjusted some in accordance with condition/ rarity etc. plus people always make silly offers on Vinted so I’ve got a little wiggle room
Sold my whole collection about 6 years ago to free up money to buy a house, and everything in it. All consoles and games from atari to neogeo and beyond. Today I've bought some stuff back that I really wanted and emulate the rest. Have the ps5 and switch set up for me and the wee man. Family comes first.
Good for ya, shame it has to be done but family is definitely a priority. If you have a PS3 console keep hold of it and Jailbreak it, put a large HDD in it and download games on it. It can play PS1, PS2 and PSP plus you can dump PS3 games on it
@@Waynesworldofgaming I kept what actually meant something to me and got rid of anything that was basically just for ‘collecting.’ The vast majority of what you sell you won’t even think of again.
I've just bought one of your ps2 games on vinted and found my way to your channel here. I've been toying with the idea of scaling down my collection in some way too. Maybe just keeping my favourites and emulating rhe rest or such like. I've subscribed to your channel and looking forward to watching more. Wishing you all the best moving forward!!
Alright bro. Brave video - it's hard to talk about adulting in the real world, particularly in front of millions. Family always comes first, so it looks like your priorities are right. I'm not convinced that it's worth acting so quickly though. I'm a big fan of you and your channel even though we've gone off and done other things in life, but this journey has taken more turns and 180s that I'm not quite sure you know what you want on times! I think the Pokemon collection was a prime example - I haven't seen many videos where you've had a genuine zest for collecting when you were picking up some of the big hitters, so to see that get thrown out of the window was a tough one but I understood the reasons. This seems like a misstep though - yes, you can emulate old games but then you can also emulate driving a Ferrari in Forza Motorsport or Gran Turismo. We've grown up through the same things and I know that one of the core collecting ideals was to have that window of nostalgia for what you grew up with - so I think hoofing the PS1 collection needs reconsidering for that reason. The added danger of the PS1 and PS2 collections is that they predated the digital shopfronts and DRM - so if you bin off some of those physical media, and then digital storefronts close or withdraw rights, then you may never get the ability to play them again. At the end of the day it's your call - this view generally goes against the grain of many commenters, but in a similar position to yourself it's nice being able to be a decent dad and show off some banging hardware and software from the 80's and 90's to kids that have Game Pass, emulation, and cloud gaming at their fingertips now! Either way, look after yourself bro, I'll make a purchase for funsies :)
Appreciate you taking the time to write all that mate and you’re right in one sense. I may not have come across in the video how it was meant to, all the titles that mean most to me are staying. Consoles are staying and the accessories are staying, this is just going to be a big reset to alleviate some financial pressure. I will then start again but not quite as mental, focussing on more heavy hitters and I can have the fun of collecting them all again
Your making a good choice family is important. But as a gamer you will eventually have remorse for some of the games you sold. I would suggest that you keep a few of your holiest grails from each console to ease the remorse when it comes. Sell everything else but keep your very favorite ones.
Completely get it tbh. I’d be interested to see how much you get for them and it will give you something to make content about. I recently sold a lot of my collection and now only stick to one shelf to avoid buying pointless stuff and with that money I bought the Sekiro collector’s edition!

This is a very good time to sell. Prices for retro games are about to drop from their peak, so my advice is to sell those first. Keep hold of your PS3 and 360 games for the time being, they're going to rise ok value over the next few years. But anything PS2 era and older, get rid.

Im getting too many of these "selling my collection" videos in my recommendation. Ehh i not really a hardcore collector or have much a large collection. The family argument is flawed but i guess everyone has there different time management that works for them. I would just sell off collection editions and pointless shovelware of games and just keep your regular core games. Don't let your wife bully and emotionally manipulate into doing sometime you actually don't want to actually do. Also ps4, ps5 and switch game collecting is overpriced at the moment especially if you having debt issues. We lost him at 55 and I wish he would have spent more time relaxing at the weekend.
That is such a sad story, but it’s confirmed that I’m making the right decision. Thank you, I hope you get your gaming pc soon 🤞🏻

@@olliecrx totally agree with you mate. It’s a tough decision but it’s for the greater good
Good for ya, shame it has to be done but family is definitely a priority. If you have a PS3 console keep hold of it and Jailbreak it, put a large HDD in it and download games on it. It can play PS1, PS2 and PSP plus you can dump PS3 games on it
I have 3 ps3 consoles 🤣 so I could look into that

I've just bought one of your ps2 games on vinted and found my way to your channel here. I've been toying with the idea of scaling down my collection in some way too. @@Waynesworldofgaming Nice one. All the best with the selling.
@@zensai-gaming that’s what I have done, I’ve kept my favourites

Gebs 24 is after a lot of ps one games. May be worth a shout between collectors first?
Ok no problem I do have a buyer wanted a fair few but I’ll see if there’s anything she wants with what’s left
Completely get it tbh. I’d be interested to see how much you get for them and it will give you something to make content about. I recently sold a lot of my collection and now only stick to one shelf to avoid buying pointless stuff and with that money I bought the Sekiro collector’s edition!
That’s kind of what I’m thinking of doing and getting the resident evil collectors editions myself but time will tell
Chasing holy grails made of plastic will never compare to the holy grail you already have in the form of family.
Best of luck to you all 👌
No truer statement said mate! I appreciate that! Thank you

You can always buy games but you can’t never buy another family, and Time is more valuable than money and a collection.

This is a very good time to sell. Prices for retro games are about to drop from their peak, so my advice is to sell those first. Keep hold of your PS3 and 360 games for the time being, they're going to rise ok value over the next few years. But anything PS2 era and older, get rid.

Honestly bro I’m in the same position as you working weekend and throughout the week, recently finding out the wife is pregnant with our first and my games room is taking up the spare room, I’m 24 with a wife 1 sheep dog and a King Charles spaniel puppy, with my games room taking up majority or the spare room granted it’s mostly ps3 stuff I think this video has mad me come to the realisation of games will be always there but family always comes first, I know If I was to sell an expensive ps3 game I’d know it would go to the right owner but apart of me thinks it won’t, I am 2 bottle of wine deep into writing this comment so I won’t be surprised if this doesn’t make sense at all haha, I’m just in a nostalgic path with finding out the wife being pregnant and knowing I won’t have much time to game a stuff and for me being the nerd to whatever it js I know gaming it gonna be outta window for me at least 2 to 3 years from now like when it come to me having Time to game again will I be restless to game or will I eve r game again, all in all I’ve thought about selling my ps3 collection to be able to provide for my family soon to come because we’re both also in debut with passed bills and credit cards, so after seeing this just shows that family comes first and games means nothing more that family first
You can always buy games again my friend but your family will only be there once. Don’t waste the gift.

I think you you might have to re-examine thought process into this idea of selling your collection.
