    Hi Melissa!
Thank for all your videos and great explanations, I was just wondering if you could check my normal night routine?
1 - Micellar water from Garnier
2 - Foaming cleanser from Cerave
3 - Tonic water from Diadermine or Oat water
4 - Coffee solution for eye contour from The Ordinary
5 - Essence (snail 96 mucin power essence) from CORSX
    6 - Night cream from Nivea Q10
If I did the night routines you have from another videos incorporating The Ordinary products.
Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays I would be using Lactic Acid or Salicylic Acid, would the essence go after them and then moisturiser?
And for Tuesdays, Thrusdays and Saturdays, would the essence go after the Hyaluronic Acid and then the moisturiser?
And for Sundays, with the AHA BHA peeling solution and the hyaluronic acid, would the essence be necessary?
I also have the Innisfree Jeju Cherry Blossom Jelly Cream and I want to incorporate it, when would I incorporate it into the routine or could it replace another item from the routine?
    Thanks!!

    • @MelissaVanDijkOfficial
      @MelissaVanDijkOfficial  10 місяців тому +1

      Hello Julia,
Yes, you would apply the snail essence after using lactic acid or SA. Remember to give the acid a few minutes to settle before layering the essence on top. Technically, the order of Hyaluronic Acid and Snail Mucin doesn't matter. However, since both serve a similar function, I suggest using just one at a time or alternating between them for better layering. The same advice applies after using the peeling solution.
As for the cream, you can alternate with the Nivea Cream or simply use the one you prefer. You might even skip them entirely, as sometimes the snail mucin or hyaluronic acid alone provides enough hydration. But that's a matter of personal preference. I'd recommend testing the different combinations to see what works best for you.

Or would it be better to incluse both in a skincare?? I understand that both works to plump the skin but are there any other differences?? Which would be your pick between those two?

      Hey! :)
      Are you new to Tretinoin?
I usually recommend keeping the routine as simple as possible when using Tretinoin, especially if you are new to it, to reduce sensitivity.
      PM:
      - Cleanser (or Double Cleansing)
      - Tretinoin
      - wait for about 15min.
      - Moisturizer
However, if you are used to it and use it daily and tolerate it well...yes, you can follow the routine you've mentioned above. However, I recommend doing it like this:
      PM:
      - Cleanser (or Double Cleansing)
      - Toner
      - Essence
      - Hyaluronic Acid
      - Niacinamide
      - Lip Balm
      - Eye Cream
      - Tretinoin
      - Moisturizer
Still, I recommend just using one, maximum 2 hydrating products - I'm referring to your toner, essence, and HA serum...you do not need all of them🙈

      @MelissaVanDijkOfficial  Рік тому

      Hey! :)
Depending on the Retinol product you plan to use, using a moisturizer may not be necessary as the product itself may already provide enough hydration. I haven't tried the Minimalist Retinol yet, so I'm not sure how the formulation feels on the skin. However, since it contains Squalane, I believe it can be used alone.
You can start with the Minimalist Retinol 0.3%. However, if you prefer an even lower concentration, consider trying out COSRX or Good Molecules Retinol creams :)

Also, start using it 2-3 times per week. Do this for a few weeks and then slowly increase the frequency if tolerated. In the beginning, I wouldn't add the Snail Mucin. Just keep it simple and use your Retinol/Retinoid along with your cleanser and moisturizer to see how your skin responds to it. After a while, you may be able to use the essence after cleansing, but before applying your Retinol/Retinoid, and then finish with your moisturizer. No sandwich method needed.

I suggest the following routine to minimize skin irritation and sensitivities:
      Morning:
Use Murad SA cleanser or Kojic acid soap.
      Apply Niacinamide serum.
Follow with a face cream containing Vitamin C.
      Apply sunscreen.
      Evening:
Start with an oil cleanse. No additional cleanser is needed; just ensure the oil is properly removed.
      Gently pat the skin dry.
Wait for 10 minutes to allow the skin to fully dry.
Apply Tretinoin and wait for 10-15 minutes.
As a final step, apply a moisturizer. If you don't have dry skin, I recommend one with a gel or lotion-like texture, as Tretinoin can make the skin drier. This dryness is not related to naturally dry skin. However, if you already have dry skin, consider using a cream-based moisturizer.

      Hello Razan,
Why do you want to add more products? If fading dark spots is your only concern, I would suggest being patient and allowing your skin to naturally fade them. Instead, focus on protecting your skin from prolonged sun exposure by using a good sunscreen during the day. This will not only aid in the fading process but also prevent any further sun damage to your skin.

Do you have peeling or pilling?
Peeling: This typically refers to the skin itself shedding or flaking off. It can be a natural process of exfoliation or a reaction to certain skincare products, especially those containing active ingredients like retinoids or strong acids.
Pilling: Pilling happens when products don't fully absorb or when too many products are layered, creating a mixture that doesn't adhere well to the skin. It's more about the product formulation and its interaction with other products or the skin, rather than a reaction of the skin itself.

Wouldn't use the Crème de la Mer with these products, as it is a very heavy formulation that often clogs pores. It may be nice when you are outside during winter if it is freezing, but it is still better to protect the skin with a good SPF.

So far my skin has been improving so well. I cannot thank you enough for that. I really like the fact that you take time to reply to comments. Can you please check my current skin care routine and correct me if I am doing anything wrong?
I have dry skin with hyper-pigmentation and rather porous skin texture.

    1. Cerave hydrating cleanser (double cleanse)
    2. The Ordinary"s Alpha Arbutin 2% + HA
    3. Acmed Azelaic Acid 20% Creme
    4. CeraVe Moisturising Cream
    5. The Derma Co 1% Hyaluronic Sunscreen Aqua Gel

    2. The ordinary Niacinamide 10% + Zinc 1%
    3. Tretinoin 0.05% Cream
    4. La Roche-Posay Lipikar Balm Apbiome Moisturizer
I am planning to incorporate snail mucin in my AM routine before moisturizer. And I am also planning to use oil based cleanser followed by hydrating cleanser. My real concern is hyper-pigmentation on my forehead and porous skin texture. I really appreciate you work and content. Thanks in advance 🙂

    • @MelissaVanDijkOfficial
      @MelissaVanDijkOfficial  Рік тому

Hmm, did you experience a porous skin texture before beginning these treatments, or has it worsened since starting them?
However, right away I would say it's too much for the skin. I would suggest cutting down on double cleansing in the morning as it is not necessary. Also, consider not using the Acmed Azelaic Acid 20% Cream, as it can potentially make your skin even drier since you are already using the tretinoin cream.
I would probably recommend a routine like this:
      Morning (AM):
      Cerave Hydrating Cleanser
      The Ordinary's Alpha Arbutin 2% + HA
The Derma Co 1% Hyaluronic Sunscreen Aqua Gel
      Evening (PM):
Cerave Hydrating Cleanser (double cleanse, if necessary)
Pat dry and wait a few minutes for the skin to dry.
      Tretinoin 0.05% Cream
      Wait a few minutes.
      CeraVe Moisturising Cream
That's it. I wouldn't suggest adding more steps than these.

If your skin can properly convert Retinol into Retinoic Acid, yes can work. However, based on the comments I get, it's random...some people say that Retinol/Retinal or Granactive Retinoid has helped them to improve their acne-prone skin, whereas others told me that it made their acne worse.

Hi Melissa :) hope you’re well!
So my question is how can I layer this snail mucin with anua heart leaf 77% watery toner with clindamycin gel? Previously, i would apply the clindamycin gel on dry skin, wait 10 mins and apply my snail following with moisturizer & spf. But I really want to introduce this toner to my rouitine, but I’m so lost into how to properly incorporate in my morning rouitine.
Is there anyway I could do like
    - clinda gel after cleansing
    - toner
    -snail
    Or should I do do
    -toner
    -Clinda gel
    -Snail
    Suggestions will be much appreciated!❤️

    • @MelissaVanDijkOfficial

      Hey! :)
Well, I would do it like this:
      AM:
      - Cleanser
      - Toner
      - Snail Essence
      - Sunscreen
      PM:
      - Cleanser
      - Clinda Gel
      - Moisturizer
Still, if what you're currently doing works well for you, use the toner before the gel.

      @MelissaVanDijkOfficial  Рік тому +1

Both the Cosrx Advanced Snail 96 Mucin Power Essence and the Advanced Snail 92 All in one Cream use snail secretion filtrate as their primary ingredient, which is known for its hydrating and healing properties.
The 96 Mucin Power Essence has a simpler ingredient list and is intended as a lightweight, hydrating essence. It features a higher concentration of snail mucin, which can help with skin repair, hydration, and elasticity.
On the other hand, the 92 All in one Cream has a more complex ingredient list, including emollients like Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride and Cetearyl Alcohol, and a skin-softening agent, Dimethicone, indicating it as a more nourishing, moisturizing product. It's meant to function as a comprehensive moisturizer, suitable for drier skin or more complete skincare routines.
So, the choice between the two would depend on your skin type and what you want from your skincare product. The Essence might be a better fit for oily or combination skin types, or as a light hydrating layer in a multi-step routine, while the Cream could be a good choice for those with drier skin, or if you want a simple, all-in-one moisturizing product.
