My IBS happens the most in the morning and when I have anxiety. I have diarrhea almost everyday and I hate it, when I have work or school in the mornings I have to wake up extra early so I have time to poop so I don’t get the painful urges during the day lol.

Here's the good news: Although there are many foods that can irritate the intestines, it is most likely only one or two that are causing the IBS. So, the solution is to start to eliminate one at a time and see if you bloat. I usually drink 3 coffees a day, so I limited myself to only one in the morning. No change. So, I usually drink a couple of wines in the evening. I stopped this altogether for a few weeks. No change. I like Mexican and India hot food, so I stopped the peppers for awhile. Sooner or later I will find out the real culprit. And you can too!

Fiber is the biggest problem maker for me. Dropping fiber rich foods (absolutely no grains and limited vegetables) immediately improves the condition.
I think a lot of people are suffering from these universal "one size fits all" solutions that most doctors and nutritionists recommend. For me a healthy ketogenic diet with intermittent fasting is the best for my gut and general health. That is pretty much the direct opposite of general IBS advice. But I´ve suffered for 20 years under their "guidance"and this actually works. The best thing to do is eliminate foods and keep a diary, learning what works and what doesn´t. Theory never beats practice.
Isn't fibre supposed to be Important to eat though?
I think your on to something. Eating more fiber only makes my constipation worse, even though I drink plenty of water.
Nobody needs to eat fiber. It's a marketing scheme from the big cereal industry. $$$.
I also have a problem with high fiber foods. I think IBS-D is different from IBS-C. If you have diarrhea, fiber will make it worse.
The pain is unbearable. I literally sometimes bite down on my arm to distract myself of the pain.

Sooo, in conclusion : no lactose, wheat, fatty foods, spicy foods, apples, blackberries, gum, peaches, asparagus, caffeine, carbonated drinks, (personal experience also: cherrys, strawberries, oranges, tomatoes,) alcohol,...... My IBS is associated with my emotions as it is often called the brain/gut disease. Over the years I have singled out a lot of foods in this list to be the culprits, so usually I eliminate them from my diet.
After I feel better, I at times overindulge in the "no no" foods and pay dearly.
This makes sense for me too, my IBS has been quite bad for over a year now, and now there is a big shake up at work that is stressing me out and my stomach has never felt worse, seems to effecting my head too, I feel a mild headache and dizzness/unbalance.
That's funny you say that because there is a hormone that the gut directly releases which affects the brain
Check out your vagus nerve..
Best IBS video on UA-cam thus far.
I have IBS-C and I hate it. Woke up in the middle of the night, last night. Went to pee, but then I couldn't fall asleep again. My heart was racing, was too warm, had bowel pains, bloating, burning chest (acid) and felt really weird. Took a laxative and 2 Rennies (Tums) and managed to get back to sleep. If I didn't take the laxative, I probably would've had fevers and vomiting. That's when it's at its worst.
Foods that make me feel awful: Onions, pasta, pastries, boerewors sausage (spiced beef sausage), too much cheese, some types of cookies and baked goods, KFC, apples, bananas. When I stress, my IBS symptoms are alot worse.
I lost my job and have little to no money, so I currently rely on my Mom to help with groceries and stuff.
Life is damn expensive already, but having this disorder, just makes everything worse.
I have this 2. Its dairy!! Drop all milk n yogharts. Im 8 weeks dairy free. And im pooping like crazy atm lol. Focus on potassium foods and magnesium. Magnesium soften the poop. Potassium helps the muscles work. 1kg of grapes a day are a winner. Or 500g grapes. 250g blueberries.

As a mexican, seeing that i have to avoid spicy food really hit me
As a Swede who loves spicy food, same
I was diagnosed w/ IBS at 19 yrs old aka "spastic colon" in 1980s. Comes & goes, stress related (unfortunately I seem to live a stressful life!). I'm vegetarian since 2017. That has HELPED w/IBS and lowered my cholesterol! I've not been good about beans, legumes but gotten better since I got pregnant 1990. I do not crave meat. I had problems digesting most meat. (I know that's opposite of others). I QUIT most dairy (all milk, sour cream, mayo etc) for good 2018. Positive impact on IBS since. I started a 10 day juice diet this wk. I honestly wasn't able to cut butter, cheese, cream out of my diet until I started juicing (I'm weak). In my 20s I began eating more nuts, fresh veg & fruits. As a child I lacked fresh fruits. Starved for those! Mother thought it was indulgent & expensive to buy fresh fruits. I had to create the habit in my 20s when I was single & 30s (when I had kids. I fed my children better than I was fed.).Veg as a child were mostly frozen--lots of starchy foods, cheap red meats (worst quality hot dogs; bacon). IBS has negatively impacted my work life since 1982. Imagine performing on stage, feeling the sudden urge to--relieve oneself? Or teaching swimming & stomach wants to explode. Or working in an office, frequent trips to bathroom (8 trips before 10:30 am-- work started at 8 or 8:30).Office manager threatened to terminate me bec I was away from my desk too often. Embarrassing & SCARY. Might sound crazy, but I think I got addicted to--dairy. I consumed so much dairy in my 30s, 40s, 50s: brie, delicious cheeses, pizza with cheese (not vegan cheese) etc. Dairy def negatively impacted IBS & cholesterol levels flew to dangerous levels. I test negative for gluten but I think gluten is a problem for me. I have quit ALL dairy for a week at a time. Always helps me w/IBS to not eat/drink dairy. On Day 5 of green veg and fruit juice diet this week. It's the only way I can come completely off dairy (I crave butter, cheese, eggs). Day 5 and I feel pretty---GREAT! Little to no diarrhea. Reduced bloating, gas, trips to loo and bonus: acid reflux has lessened. If I learned one thing in over 40 yrs of dealing with this: eliminating delicious, addictive dairy (I LOVE butter)---helps--more than anything else with IBS. (I don't drink alcohol though so I am just talking food).
It’s my anniversary today, I’m sitting on the toilet!
The thing is IBS is the doctors blanket term for “I don’t know.”
And each person is different.
This is just my experience on dealing with it right or wrong it just keeps me being able to function in society.
1) Stress is the main trigger of me having a laying on the floor in pain episode. So all this focus on food is only part of the problem.
2) Avoid alcohol I keep a stash of some vodka in my bathroom to get me through one of those painful episodes. If my stomach is iffy and I am with a group of people and I am actually hungry instead of not eating like I use to I will have a beer with my meal. After all it is like a muscle relaxer and it is the painful spasms I want to avoid.
3) If it gets bad enough I will fast for as long as I can and rest. Sitting in front of tv like a sloth rest.
4) my IBS will switch from constipation to the other side. So I eat and drink according to which side it is on. Also gas x is my friend since a lot of the pain is from gas.
5) I have found the probiotics have reduced my episodes. If you can find one that also has a prebiotic in it even better. Now the high quality can get expensive but once I get to point where I can’t eat without pain I will order the high price stuff otherwise I get what they sell at a local pharmacy.
P.S. I have tried prescriptions for IBS they all make me feel out of it. Yet once it gets really bad and I need to slow my system down I will take them for a couple of days. More than that I end up on the other side of the problem.
Absolutely
Tbh they should just call it idk
I found wheat was my trigger to get it happening. Massive cramps when just a mouthful of a biscuit sometimes. So, I now have nothing with wheat in it. No pasta, breads, cakes, biscuits, pizza etc etc. It took a few "pigouts", but if you come to my house, there is nothing bought that's in a box, packet jar etc. If it wasn't around in great grandma's day, it's no good for you. There are so many additives...So, I cook breakfast, lunch and tea, all fresh meat, home grown, veg, eggs, and a few fruits which I have to restrict in case of over consumption of fructose, the enemy of healthy body. Rice is a good substitue for wheat....rice cakes are a staple here now.
@@Marylmac ans following this diet are you free from pain / back to normal?
@@jasewildheart I have been eating this way for over 30 years...but sometimes I want to just try something different and 50% of the times...about 5 times a year I'd say...I am reminded by those cramps, I've been a very naughty girl...Mostly, it's barely a bite, But at 80 years old now, still jogging a couple of klms about 3 or 4 times a week, I feel really well, thanks. Was deadly sick last year in fruit and veg season...insulin resistence struck me down...and having had my gall bladder out when I was 27 years old, I had been really well, apart from knowingly eating some allergin I should not have. Then this thing in Oct last year put me in bed for 6 weeks on and off. Both panceas and liver are supposedly in a fatty state, so am now really very cautiously watching my eating for the next 12 months until my liver and pancreas expell all the stuff itheycouldn't when I was over eating my lovely plums, fruit and veg, all home grown. I was gluttonous actually...I'm only 48 kgs, about 110 lbs, so am not over weight.
I had been through this hell. I have somehow managed to overcome this. Here are few tips.
1. Avoid drinking direct tap water (especially in developed countries), as the processed water contains chlorine that kills the good gut bacteria.
2. Avoid caffeine.
3. Avoid meat (red is proven to be highly inflammatory and takes a lot of time to digest). Also avoid eggs as they are inflammatory as well.
4. Eat fruits and vegetables that are rich in anthocyanins, that is, veggies that look purple such as purple carrot, purple cabbage, blueberries, blackberries etc.
5. Take probiotic supplement to have good gut bacteria.
6. Consume curd/yoghurt. If you are lactose intolerant, then you can go for plant based alternatives.
7. For daily protein requirements, go for black kidney beans / red kidney beans.
8. Avoid foods that are spicy.
Thank you so much
What probiotic do you take?
I have ibs, I eat red meat pretty often and I’m also lactose intolerant and I don’t really like plant based alternatives
I find it's the veggies that lead to worsening symptoms. I have no problem with meat, but when I have cabbage... boy oh boy.. my intestines go haywire. I feel like I have food poisoning afterwards. I think the only veggies I'll stick to are green beans and asparagus.
I find meat and eggs to be extremely beneficial the opposite to inflammatory. I don’t get pain when I eat them…. Beans, nuts and certain veggies on the other hand …..not so great.
There really is not reliable evidence for meat/eggs being ‘inflammatory’ not like high omega 6 seed oils, excess refined sugars and particular proteins such as gluten/lectins..
Being Lactose intolerant, yogurt really triggers issues for me, but most alternatives are not better as they tend to be full of isolated gums (carrageenan, xanthan, carob etc), starches, sugar and added lectins.

I notice there's a weird connection between anxiety and diareah... Sometimes I'll randomly feel anxious butterfly type feelings in my bowels around my gut.. A couple hours later comes the liquid fire. I don't feel anxiety normally, and if I do it's not the kind of anxiety that makes my stomach feel weird and tense. There's something to it, either my brain is sending signals to my gut, or vice versa, but there is a miscommunication. Right now I'm about to go through another liquid fire phase. I'm a sinner..... I deserve every second of this.

I am a very fussy eater, having these issues has cut down my meal options by a lot. Eggs are a good source of diet, oat meal is gluten free, i have found an amazing gluten free noodle brand that i will let you know the brand of when i find out, chex’s cereal is gluten free & actually funded by celiacs disease foundation. i also like to drink a lot of peppermint tea. i have the exact opposite, i was having the runs about 12-15 times a day. i’m now going 5 times a day.

I feel better with a high fat, animal protein rich diet. What's bothering me is lactose, beans, lentils, sugar, spices, stress, caffeine, carbonation, alcohol. I rub my belly a lot and use a heating pad and that helps x1000000. Thanks for the video.
High fat diet can lead to heart disease
Everything to avoid. ....only water left.....
The reason I’m watching this video is because I have IBS problem I think ! Especially today , & I just realized that was chewing sugar free gums all day for the last 2 weeks but today none stop . & thank you for that video.
So if you have IBS there is sure to be something here "important to avoid" so how depressing is that eh?.So the advice here is take out pleasures like coffee and alcohol and you MIGHT reduce your IBS symtoms. And what is the point if it takes out half the pleasure in your life? "Stop drinking alcohol, stop smoking, stop eating spicey food, stop drinking coffee and above all stay positive. " While doctoprs mention the important role of stress, they in the same breath recommend drastic changes in diet and habits without thinking for a moment how that could stress out some patients dramatically and stress is a key trigger for IBS!"
Basically either suffer with choosing not to eat almost everything that you enjoy eating or suffer with IBS.

It’s actually amazing for IBS. Cayenne pepper has been known to heal stomach ulcers. Some of the info in this video is very poor and factually incorrect
Guys. you can reduce the symptoms of ibs by eating only in them morning and then fasting until dinner. And working out while in between your meals. Eat blue berries and bananans. Just make sure its probiotic as it feeds your good bacteria in the morning. When you get to dinner you will want to eat lean meats like fish or beef with potatoes and green vegetables on the side with maybe rice. I hope this information helps
Well I skip meals and I still have pain
Thanks for all your help
@@antonisworkmentonis1225 I don't know what to say. Maybe it is also stress that is not caused by food. Try yoga and meditation. Things that also can trigger IBS Is mental things as well worrying to much.
Beef murders my intestines and causes constipation...which would be better than this constant diarrhea. I HATE fish. Every person is different chemically. What works for you, won't work for me, what works for me won't work for you.
@@reachingcoldmountainbeforeyou Thats true we are all different. Indians for example some of them dont eat meat. their whole lifes. and they live just fine. While others will lack iron because of not eating meat in a long time. We are all different thats definetly true. I agree with you
Anxiety triggers mine too. I have celiac disease and am lactose intolerant. Still get IBS better since I'm on the gluten free diet
Thank you. Super good info
IBS is a very terrible disease, and its more painful because the medical doctors we trust and rely on for solutions, have all failed us and kept on lying to us that there is no cure, but am a living testimony of hope, IBS can be cured by herbal medicine, my sincere gratitude to Dr folonsho for healing from IBS, when all my hope was lost, herbal medicine can cure IBS, reach out to him today, and be free from IBS, don't believe what the doctors said, there is more to life than depression from this horrible illness.
Citrucel fiber is the only fiber that made a big difference for me. I used to have so much trapped gas like in my chest. Messed with my breathing. I tried all types of fiber. Psyllium, flax, chia, that tummy fiber, I was like 80 percent better after citrucel. Wish I could find a more natural fix.
Thanks for the recommendation for Citrucel.. I’ll give anything a try at this point! I’ve tried Acacia fiber and that seemed to sorta help and I’ve tried the flax and chia seeds on my smoothie…but I might try that Citrucel! Thanks 🙏🏻 hopefully we both feel relief sometime soon!! Hope you have a happy holidays!
This was very informative, but the title is "Foods to eat/avoid with IBS" other than recommending fiber IF you have constipation symptoms, there was no other food recommendations, just things to avoid. I'm interested in specific foods that are recommended and/or can help heal the gut or improve symptoms
Excellent explanation sir👏
Thank you so very much for this video! It has helped me so much! I know caffeine makes my systems worse. I thought asparagus and apples were making my IBS worse. Your video confirms it. Thank you again, and I like the speakers voice and presentation.
Stop coffee and tea, avoid white sugar.......Take fenugreek sprouts before breakfast, hartika(kadukkai podi in Tamil) powder in hot water before sleep...... Do some simple yoga..... This cures 100% without any medicine you can come good, take 1 cup of yogurt without sugar
i cant even have onion or garlic? da fark..so what can i eat then? air?

You can have the gree part of spring onions and garlic oil
The lactose free is what helped me the most
This helps so much omg I've had ibs since I was a baby and this helps alot im having alot of pain right now since 7pm its 9.50pm rn but its ok rn ty for helping me tysm ty ty ty!!!!
It's like we have stomach cancer, there's more we can't eat then what we can. This sucks.
I am facing this problem from past 6 years and truely realize that how critical ibs actually. In ibs we can't judge what to take and what avoid. But you follow any kind of diet plan always face nutritional deficiencies. But when we intake water first you have to boil cause 80% diseases start with dirty water.
Same,,,, I am fed up of this ibs,,, don't know what to take,, ,how to overcome this, years are passing...
My nutritionist gave me the MRT/LEAP test and elimination diet based on the test, and we found many common foods were a problem for me. I started the elimination diet the same day I got the report, and I got immediate relief. While I got sick when I tried some new foods, I also found foods that were safe to eat. I recommend the MRT/LEAP test and elimination diet to anyone with IBS, it was a miracle for me.
Here's a list of what I take during the day
1. One pill of 75mg viberzi in the afternoon followed by a probiotic with 6 billion cultures
2. One pill of anxiety medication at some point during the day, along with GasX
3. Another pill of 75mg Viberzi later in the day.
And im not sure if it's all the combined medications, but I still get the burning sensation in my lower gut.
Wow! 3 things I consume too much and no wonder my bowels have not been happy :Caffeine"even decaf?" apples"I eat every morning in my oatmeal" ,and especially spicy foods .Woops! I thought I was doing great eating a gluten free diet but that's not enough. Thanks for this informative video.👍
i ate an apple yesterday cuz it said it helps constipation..
Have you made a change...did it help?
Oatmeal, a definite no no
@@AliciaM5555 yes I'm sure it isn't good for you as they say huh 😥 I always buy the healthiest oats "Bob's red mill GF " but maybe they're lying on that part still.
@@carolyn6689 yes hun, I've been doing a lot of research and I am also older, raised on the 'ol "food pyramid", grains definitely upset the digestion now I'm assuming bc our soil is over processed and we use so much chemicals. Type into YT about grains, oatmeal, etcetera I've heard multiple doctors say so much bad about them especially if you suffer with leaky gut/ibs issues. I would substitute that at the very least with gluten free products or just go carnivore/protein. Prayers 🙏🙇♂️❤
i tend to get terrible IBS symptoms when i eat beef, corn and cows milk and coffee, im now trying decaff tea and coffee
Thank you
Thank you
Thank you
Thanks for sharing! Gut health is so important for preventing constipation! Indicators of a healthy gut include: colon transit time of 12-24 hours, type 4 stool on the Bristol stool chart, not having diarrhea or constipation, having 1-3 bowel movements per day, and light-dark brown colored stools!
It would be better if this video could make the food suggested and food to avoid more obviously separated, visually with an avoid icon in different color and design wise on different pages.
The worst part of having IBS for me is the noises that my stomach makes. My stomach noises have literally ruined my life and I'd be lying if I said I don't hate myself because of it. It's just so embarrassing... And it happens when I'm writing tests or in class... Literally the worst feeling in the world.
❤❤❤ 🫂🫂🫂
Please don't think like this. It's okay. You are loved. God loves you and I do too.
It's okay we are all humans and have something unique, some people have ticks to slap others....most of the time nobody hears it, but its to loud I crack jokes with my student about *eating a dinosaur* 🥺🤫🤣 More power to us we are real warriors 🕊️👽🗡️

I know just what u mean. My Cat looks at me it is soo funny how he looks at me. My stomach & bowels are all over the place.I don't care that much about the noise it makes. If I eat the wrong foods e.g. a lot of fruit or Vegetables in one day. I fast my farts stinky soo much now that is embracing. 😭
Lol so what foods can we actually eat..?
I'm a recent victim to this and I'm frustrated af
Dust I guess or is that bad too lol
potatoes, rice, most veg, nearly all meat and fish, green bananas, citrus fruit, gluten free products. Watch out for soy products - soybean isn't low fodmap but soy protein is. Garlic infused olive oil is OK and asafoetida is a good substitute for onion. I recommend the monash fodmap app as it has more detail on what to eat
Avoid cruciferous vegs like cauliflower, cabbage, broccoli, lentils and legumes. You can have aubergines, carrots, bell pepper, french beans, potatoes, eggs, chicken, fish safely. Avoid processed foods.
@@jessb4141 Veg, are you crazy. I cant digest veg, ahahahahahaHAHAhhahah lol

Great video. I wonder if the success of gluten free diet is due to the fructans in wheat, not the gluten necessarily
Thanks bro you gave in details
If you liked this video, you may also want to know that nutrition can help with constipation! One example of foods that can help is healthy fats. Some foods higher in healthy fats are coconut oil, milk, flax oil, nut butters, and fatty fish!
At this point I'd rather live with my symptoms and eat what the hell I want
Then you aren't dealing with the same pain we are... Trust me this is not the way to live

CAC Trikatu As the name suggests three ingredients are used for its preparation like Shunthi, Pippali, & Maricha. These herbs in combination deal with the loss of appetite, gas, flatulence, bloating, abdominal distension, weak digestion, constipation, abdominal pain, etc.

Can IBS completely cure ? We have to follow these for full life span?
Seems like 80% of my diet is cutted from the Menu. I am from india ,gluten and lactose diet is like everyday for me. Sometimes tea and spicy foods too, so will it affect me like others ?
What to eat in india?
As in this video what to avoid not about what to have.
If you get the info please let me know completely. 🙏
Ah yes a sufferer from a spice loving country. We also hate a non spicy food in here. So walking around finding food is like a landmine honestly. Stay strong buddy.
A good alternative for wheat bread? I had a coke yesterday, 1st one in 6 months. It tore my tummy up. So that will be the last.
What if the main symptoms are not so much pain or cramping, but more of intermittent diarrhea/ constipation/ bouts of "normalcy," tenesmus, gas and bloating? My doctor put me on dicyclomine - which is only for the cramps - but not the other symptoms! I do watch my diet.
I just hope it's the gum. I get through a packet of extra a day. Gave up smoking 16 years ago. Probably addicted, but it's only a habit!
