Coach Heather Casey explains the use of the lap button for Garmin watches. Using the lap button allows your coach to see intervals defined in the metrics of TrainingPeaks.
Amazing. I had been hitting start and stop but now I know I can rest during an interval so I can just keep pressing that and I won't forget to press start again and loose laps like that (which has happened a few times).
this helped me - lots of videos on how to set up interval training in the Garmin app and on the watch but not much on this use of the buttons - thanks!
I'm following Amy's half marathon training plan. Today I had my first time trial training, and I didn't realize what I had to do. After doing 800m of warm up, I pressed the "Lap" button and after that, I followed the initial instructions which were: "do your best", that's what I did, but after passing a mile, I thought I would have some information.. .but I didn't get anything. After passing the second mile I ended up giving up the training, because I didn't know what to do (if I had to press the "lap" button, and when). And I also didn't know when training was going to end. I started running at a pace for a mile, of course, I can't sustain that pace for a distance that is 4 or 5 times that, so I gave up at the second mile. I think they should inform the athletes about what they are going to do, because then we are running in the dark. Has anyone here done this type of training?
Thank you for your explanation. I guess that's Fenix 6s? Before i was running i always hit that interval buttom and didn't know what that mean, now i know how to set the intervals and rests!
Hi. I’m just irritated because this lap button kicked me off right to main page (like normal back). Any idea what I’m doing wrong? I’ve got forerunner 245. Greetings! Tom
I started a 10k training and had no idea what “lap button press” from that workout routine means. Thank you for this simple but very helpful video
Someone at Garmin needs to hire you because they have done a terrible job with the user education system for this and many other features!
Very good video. I got lost today doing my first stride training! Thaks!
This is brilliant. Thank you so much, Heather!
This is soooo helpful. Thank you. I’m new to Garmin having recently purchased an Epix Gen 2
Thank you for an excellent and simple explanation on how to use Garmin for intervals! Much appreciated!!
Thank you so much for explaining something that now seems so simple yet I could not find on garmin help, super helpful, 🙂

Thanks ! Very helpful and easy to follow 👍👍
Thank you. That was useful for me as a new Fenix owner.

Big thanks. Nice and simple to understand.
Thank you so much for taking the time to do this video. Do you know if I have to turn off the Auto lap marker that come by default at every mile?
Dear, can i see lap 1 and 2 statistics for example is i am at lap 5? While still running
Oh, thank you 💪😲
Cool, thanks

you need to "turn on" the lap button in the run settings. Otherwise it's just a back button.
Helpful thanks
I'm not able to get info while my acttivity on my garmin fenix 6 pro.only able when my acttivity is saved.
Thanks
what model?
Think of the "lap button" as lapse as in "time lapse" not a lap of a running track
