An entertaining charismatic, independent thinker with a sense of humor that isn't brainwashed by a certain political ideology, and isn't afraid to say what's on his mind. I also have to agree with his views regarding people wanting to "move" to Canada as if it's some magical Candyland utopia where everyone gets along. As someone who has friends there, it's not the case at all. You'll experience hatred anywhere in the civilized world, and Canada is no exception.

They said this exact same thing, that people like to pretend that Canada is some perfect society where racism and inequality don't exist, and that that's simply not true. Racism might not be as evident as it is in America, but it definitely exists there, as it does everywhere.

I understand, to a degree, the desire to not have outside influence. Japan is a perfect example of a racist, xenophobic country, that never gets called out. The difference is that our country was founded entirely by immigrants. Japan is a centuries old empire. Canada has never had a set of universal values, like Japan, or England even. It's way too diverse, way too big. Canada is a place where immigrants gambled on their future.
I think we need to remember that. It's not a place with a proud heritage. What our government has done to the First Nations for 300 years is nothing short of revolting. Canada the definition of a post-nationalist, corporate nation. All that said, I'd rather live here than anywhere else in the world. But part of Canada's charm comes from the fact that its values change with the changes in immigration. Mandarin is the second most common language in downtown Toronto now. Punjabi is the most common language in Peel region(!!), the second most populated region in the country. Assuming you're not native (which, if you are, my bad) we have no place to tell other immigrant cultures how to act.

A story I read about Canada which sent a chill straight up my spine. In 2019, a school board in Ontario burned 30 'problematic' books, including the biographies of several French explorers and a children's book, 'Tintin in America,' in a ceremony they called 'flame purification,' after which they spread the ashes as fertilizer. ‘We bury the ashes of racism, discrimination and stereotypes in the hope that we will grow up in an inclusive country where all can live in prosperity and security’, says the _classroom video_ they made about this little project. I miss Conan. He was truly funny I found from all other shows. Great character. Watched him since a kid.

Bill should be a permanent guest to get his views on the news. Even when he doesn't quite know the answer always says things that just makes sense.

Conan's appreciation of Bill's dark humor and depressive outlook always makes me smile lmao
